Rarely do I go to Dumfries, and the occasions I have cause to visit Tesco rarer still thankfully, but I genuinely was going right past it this afternoon and wondered whether it might be worth having a look. Compared to quite a few of you I'm not much of a chap for Matchbox, or new models in general, but when the opportunity comes up one might as well take it. Besides, I'd been intrigued how difficult this evidently is to find. Hardly anything on the pegs, I was just about to give it up as a bad lot and head home when something yellow right at the back caught my eye.. Before anyone asks, yes it was the only one.

That's brilliant,at least we know they are out there 😀

I'd gathered they were a bit difficult to come by, Sierraman and bunglebus in particular being much more into this sort of thing than me and I'd read on here that neither had found one yet. If there had been more than one I'd have bought them to share out. Turns out there's another Tesco in Dumfries I didn't know about until earlier, I might well have to revisit the town later in the week and if so I'll check that out on the off chance. It's a nicely done little thing but would benefit from some tail-light detailing.

Well I'm also the wrong side of the border this week, so fingers crossed! Just been scoping out where I'll be working and seen a B&M, Home Bargains and Sainsbury's in close proximity, so hopefully there'll at least be some Hot Wheels to purchase

I spy a silver nova just below centre. I also have one of those.

Can anyone identify the white car top right corner under the P&O container?

Matchbox MK4 Cortina is saleable even in that condition, and so is the Turbo II Transit Supervan. How much is the lot? Definitely looks worth a rummage.

White car top right is a Matchbox MK2 Golf

*edit* ah not that one - mysterious. Keep thinking Escort RS2000 but it's not right...

Thanks, but I meant the one next to the yellow digger thing

Corgi Whizzwheels Vita-min  also.

Who knows what lurks in the depths.

I want to rummage through that box so much!🤣🤪

£30 for that box which they reckon is 'more than 200 cars', plus a little bit of pez to fetch it. I'll go and get it but only if you lot buy buy some bits... I don't actually *want* any of it but if I can make my money back plus a bit on top it could be a fun virtual rummage. I had spotted the Silhouette but sadly that seems to be the most common/least valuable Red Line... I probably should though, right?

Edit - already sold!

I'm looking for a model of a Lotus XI to sit on my desk and ponder while I am supposed to be working. Who makes a decent one that doesn't cost a quintillion pounds. Bigger the better.

NB. No build it yourself sort of things because I have precisely zero patience for that.

Got an appointment in Dumfries tomorrow morning, will have a look in the Tesco I didn't know was there afterwards. If they have any Capris I'll try and get a few to distribute on here. Fingers crossed!

Some weeks ago I stumbled across a chap on Facebook selling off his late uncle's Vanguards collection.  He offered them for open auction and while I did like several enough to bid, I didn't win any.  At least, I thought I didn't.  One bloke outbid everybody on a variety of lots; some singles, some joblots.  Then as soon as the seller tried to make contact, he disappeared.  So the seller posted that he would honour the last bid on each of these lots, and one of them was mine.  Today a little box arrived containing my purchases.

We all know how I like a PA Cresta, right?  I got this joblot of three for £12 plus postage.  And they're lovely.  Now... anyone got a good method of removing the transfers without damaging the paint?

Yep nail varnish remover. Be nice and gentle. Use a cotton bud

I had a yellow/cream PA Cresta taxi in my model railway. Will probably be up the loft with the other stuff now.

Me one Christmas. Army vehicles was that years theamed presents.

Honest John Missile, Quad and 25 ponder, another gun. There was the tank and transporter too. Plus some dispatch riders. I think the dispatch riders were made by Britons and the rest by Dinky.

Here is what I still have. The Quad but some eyes and hooks for towing are broken.

The single 25 pounder gun. That too may have been made by Britain. There is a  mechanism which would allow the firing of broken matchsticks from the barrel.

The tank with now knackered tracks.

and last of all the Thornycroft Antar tank transporter.

I bought a 1/32 Jada F&F '71 Skyline a while back. The detail is excellent and it's one of my favourite modern* purchases. BIL plays with potatoshop and found himself bored one evening...

I have that 25 pounder somewhere. As well as firing matches, you could tear a cap from a roll and place it so the plunger becomes a striker and it it goes bang, with a nicely warlike smell of cordite.

I don't know if you remember, but I kept seeing one of these at my local boot sale, and every week walked away as the woman wanted too much money. Think I got it for a two or three quid in the end - bet you probably didn't pay much more!
