Indeed, so we might as well start there

These next were all picked up thinking one of you lot might want them. Rover jam sandwich, devoid of roof lights but what do you expect for a quid?

I paid three English pounds for this still sealed Matchbox set, thinking @Datsuncog might want it. No obligation of course

Let's have a look at some bigger cars, finally found a decent example of the silver mini I remember buying as a kid with my Premium Bond money. Forward vision might be a slight problem though

PXL_20250601_141436147.jpg.724f04b8464bb11f2d1b9c51a853e6ff.jpg

PXL_20250601_141431228.jpg.358da7e85465208bf0c2fc4dd38faf0c.jpg

Is this where my love of silver/red interior started?

PXL_20250601_141447917.jpg.38d66be4c75e918c518fdac044094eae.jpg

Corgi Rolls, not a bad example

PXL_20250601_141016039.jpg.0d9ee2d94f991fcff03331e1ca6784f3.jpg

Good amount of opening stuff and detail

PXL_20250601_141054031.jpg.085d4ed7fb409b7865474533dfcdf7d7.jpg

PXL_20250601_141117231.jpg.f973f5e02167f61289b5c2aa306cd4b9.jpg

Not as funky as the bad taste custom version though

PXL_20250601_141324259.jpg.45cf4a8816f8e94f3c71c08cab41f410.jpg

Blue Thames van with red innards is a new version for me

PXL_20250601_140448583.jpg.391c5dff89533a6aab067a6a2e7ba5da.jpg

I think it's been dropped on one of the rear doors unfortunately

PXL_20250601_140459763.jpg.2f9419932992aeb1b570e8853c06cb08.jpg

PXL_20250601_140509106.jpg.78c4ae664141472fbfe311f7b9577eec.jpg

Another Mini, one of a trio of Police vehicles I bought at the toy fair, all half the marked price. This one was probably the least bargainous, costing me a fiver

PXL_20250601_135821468.jpg.7a47a5bb1f29c2c6b5d5d0473b786859.jpg

Yet another red interior

PXL_20250601_135838204.jpg.d8a59c1678bb0fbb6fe5c8537672f0cd.jpg

It does make a nice before/after with my restored one

PXL_20250601_140044764.jpg.91e21adb50aad5c37fbc993ede7de662.jpg

PXL_20250601_140102317.jpg.f2c328c94a67a382c1b2dd0c5abc0d49.jpg

Range Rover was a boot sale bargain, and is peak Dinky. Opening stuff, tilting bits, full metal construction. This was a damn cool toy in its day

PXL_20250601_135719844.jpg.26024f211ee891b1abf6e121cb145ee9.jpg

PXL_20250601_135703080.jpg.ee7ea0d41838e5cf1daae0efee68d683.jpg

Zephyr has had a tough life, but looking closer it's only missing a single door card, all the lights etc are all there, not bad for £2.50

PXL_20250601_135357008.jpg.bcdaf04d73694bfac32aeeb8a4fa8c48.jpg

PXL_20250601_135432653.jpg.bd6e0230aeb434e3dca6a869887491dd.jpg

PXL_20250601_135511636.jpg.20ec782288f1ff0a01445e5cc6e27c5f.jpg

I prefer the later MK1 Transit, but this is another one that was well worth grabbing, as it's complete,  £5 is well below online pricing anyway

PXL_20250601_135209990.jpg.0c3c9584f82e9ad07b93e9e2e871f311.jpg

Driver has some serious anatomical problems

PXL_20250601_135303727.jpg.6ade472441ea22630b02f298a4ed250b.jpg

Here's the Studebaker again, just so you can enjoy the funky paint scheme

PXL_20250601_135110408.jpg.d7713852ba295316152aaaf5d763bd28.jpg

The Mrs picked up this Princess at the boot sale, I bought that and a load of other bits including the Range Rover, Corgi Major trailer and Bburago F40 for silly cheap

PXL_20250601_135019355.jpg.7b08241fda7db8244fe961a95d675be0.jpg

PXL_20250601_135030680.jpg.d080a310ec2dd488950eafaf7c515eeb.jpg

This one was my most expensive buy, on the stand of a guy who always has a ton of fantastic, boxed Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox etc - with prices to match. £8.00 for a Politoys NSU seemed fair enough to me

This weekend was a good one for smoll tat.

From two different charity shops. The monster trucks are near mint but the pooch is missing from the Wagoneer.

The series three Tune-Ups are a bit annoying as you can't decode what's inside as far as I know

Best HWs I could find in a number of shops:

And been making progress on various 1/24 kits:

Tamiya Subaru Alcyone (XT Turbo to us). Almost done, just decals and a little touching-up to go.

1:24 Hasegawa Mitsubishi Galant GTO kit

Mitsubishi Galant GTO by Hasegawa, to be built as a loose replica of a 1:1 I saw at a couple of shows back in the '90s.

Thought it was about time I made anpther 190-shaped purchase. Having had so many 1:1 scale examples my diecast collection is still pretty sparse in comparison. However this new Ixo release appealed, (along with a money off coupon from ebay and being able to stick it on clearpay!) I've not had many actual Ixo branded and packaged models, the majority of the ones I have are all ex-partwork models, mostly form overseas sellers

IMG_20250601_160507.jpg.11f302a66d42dc58a9c7f4957f8af38f.jpg

IMG_20250601_161320.jpg.86f0e28ad32655a3e424eb48e27489de.jpg

This one appealed because it's a proper memory jogger for me, back to the mid 2000s - early 2010s when I owned these cars. They were cheap, and reliable enough to use as daily drivers, with a bit of '80s retro cool. There was also a cracking owners forum, where the emphasis was all about getting out in your 190 and using it and having fun in it. Standard and modified cars were welcomed and celebrated in equal amounts. A few of mine were subtly modified, I was more about the Euro/OEM+ approach though, rather than anything extreme, but I admit, with the three Sportline Pack cars I had, I left those alone...

IMG_20250601_160912.jpg.05bd85f6b0cee31fdf83f83bca0e7d5e.jpg

So this one brings back happy memories of those times, because although it is of a 2.3-16 "Cosworth" variant, there is no way that it is an original one, just like a lot of them were back in the day, before prices start to rise. Even the base proclaims that it is a "customised" version. The colour of this one is amazing, my camera doesnt do it justice. It is a bit like Almandine red, an original MB colour, (that wasnt available until the later 2.5-16 was launched though), but much more vivid, with a bit of chrome-effect to it. The colour-coded bumper inserts and black striping aling the side skirts also mark this one out as modified.

IMG_20250601_161719.jpg.f971b93f473ebedf37a12fb596028e3b.jpg

Up front we have clear indicators (once guilty of that, m'lud) and a very nicely detailed colour coded grille shell and strips,(usually done with a Schatz glassfibre grille shell). Of course, to be competely period, they could have added an SEC style 'Big Star' grille insert, but fortunately they chose not to. I mean, who'd be stupid enough to drive around in a red 190 with one of those monstrosities?

042kk(1).jpg.3117760cb6f9642c93f45541320ed40c.jpg

(I did frisbee it once I started tidying the car up, and got hold of a standard insert...)

IMG_20250601_160923.jpg.f1af0b4914ba59999b5590a2a7b86862.jpg

At the rear, a nice standard twin-pipe back box and its nice to see some period smoked tail lights, which are still a sought after mod today,

cars035dd1.jpg.ca6cb91494e6e4b1c51994a7d179e4ad.jpg

I was lucky enough to score these genuine Hella smoked clusters (NOS, still in original box) for £50 for my Nutriabrun 2.0. You could easily pay ten times that or more for a used set now.

IMG_20250601_160855.jpg.8fb15884e28dda88d62f3ceb9dcc3b31.jpg

Attention to detail includes the correct early single washer jet and early skinny single wiper set up.

IMG_20250601_161033.jpg.44c5e9c5bf05a914b8d8aabc37bbac82.jpg

Early 190s lacked the ingenious 'hop up &down' mechanism of later cars which allows the single wiper to reach across the whole screen. Early cars had a single conventional wiper arm which went around the outside  of the screen, and an inset tiny wiper blade which cleared the inner part,

Screenshot_20250601_230628_com_ebay_mobile_ViewItemActivity_edit_103176691532932.jpg.a657a6e65d75cdf529c2ab4490e8ab59.jpg

IMG_20250601_161012.jpg.14f0b01141c2a9f20e4c2df7ee6b8f7a.jpg

Wheels are a typical 90s split-rim design, which are a very close match to OZ Futuras, which along with the Polaris by the same firm, were bolted to many modified 190s.

IMG_20250601_231840.jpg.95d1b5afefe013a06e281ae0f9048993.jpg

Most Ixo road castings started off as motorsport versions, like the 190, and a lot of them are let down by still having race interiors. Fortunately with this one, they've gone to the trouble  of recreating the 16 valver's 2+2 Recaro based sports seats with individually bolstered rears. The plastic's not too shiny either, so they look a fair bit like new leather.

IMG_20250601_161509.jpg.389332ea387fb65b4310b449a40f85eb.jpg

The early optional airbag steering wheel features here, and some nice dial detail. Sadly, like Minichamps, they've ballsed up a bit and used the clocks from the early base models, with a big clock instead of a rev counter!

IMG_20250601_160957.jpg.23c5813d35365958e02648d92f1b905e.jpg

All in all, a good job by Ixo. Finally I have a nice, detailed 190E in 1/43 scale and a nice reminder of some good times had in cars (which seem to be fewer and fewer these days...)
