Is there a noticeable difference? I've got most of the CMC cars but I don't want to get drawn into "specials" as they're not exactly cheap (I do think the prices are fair considering the effort that goes into them)

Got the message about the Oxford Diecast sale (with free shipping) whilst in a mildly compromised state last night, owing to cracking open a bottle of home-made rhubarb vodka that had been gently infusing since 2021.

Woke up to this:

Oh. And there I was thinking I'd gone off 1/43 models.

Apparently I also saw fit to order up a bottle of apple rum from an artisanal distiller in rural Armagh.

Note to self - keep phone somewhere out of arm's reach on Friday evenings...

Bubbly Beemer and twin-card Toyoyo error cars picked up for @bunglebus

Will pop those in with the Siku Beetle cabrio!

Thought I'd found another error car in B&M...

IMG_20250131_1320412.thumb.jpg.9baacad0534be92ed3df58ef4c70917a.jpg

...but quickly spotted the sellotape holding the blister onto the torn card.

Still, that's one way to get a Tony Hawk branded Cruise Bruiser without having to buy a skate set.

Didn't look like they had much in B&M at first, with only stale 2024 Hot Wheels and 2023 Matchbox to be seen, but...

IMG_20250131_1319572.thumb.jpg.e4850bcae3b75eca4dc1c33fbdf11c4e.jpg

A load of new 2025 case models were swinging at the end of the aisle, plus Premiums.

IMG_20250131_1314042.thumb.jpg.ef17352253c23085e4b1dab9f185bd4d.jpg

And what's this?! An unattended 2025 A-case?

IMG_20250131_1314112.thumb.jpg.11045e40d248037fcab0406a689ee02c.jpg

Ah, it had already been picked over. No R32 Skylines or Porsches. Meh.

Still, came home with a Morgan and a Lotus for myself.

Sort of.

Glad I’m not the only one that mixes the delights of diecast’s and alcohol. My eBay summary does not make for fine reading!😆 oop’s oh well never mind.

Cant wait to see your Firenza, don’t think I’ve ever actually seen one.

Another CMAC 3D print of the once-ubiquitous LDV 400 factory minibus. It looks like a generic white one but is a vehicle with a lot of personal significance, albeit not the fondest of memories.

N387PNV.thumb.jpg.8a8dcc3f051749d030120997a4274b6c.jpg

My school didn't have its own minibus and would borrow this one from the neighbouring school. Many slow and uncomfortable trips on it driven by inexperienced teachers are the reason for my lifelong dislike of the Sherpa family and I still remember it making lots of noise that didn't translate into any power, the tinny doors clanging, the sticky grey vinyl seats and banging my head on the low roof. It must have stood up to a lot of abuse though as the school had it for 17 years and then sold it for further use, although it's been scrapped now.

These things were everywhere like a plague, usually with rusty back doors and assorted other ailments, and it's modelled from memory as I never cared enough to take a photo of it. Who'd have thought all these years later I'd actually get nostalgic for a horrible old Sherpa that traumatised me as a child?

I mean, I dont NEED one, I've had the Bluebird  Firenza SL in my display cabinet since they first came out, way back in 2016.

But at a tenner, I couldn't resist it. (Plus,  finding out that the 1800 SL version differs from the 2300 by having a different dashboard tooling was a good enough excuse, so I can compare the two!)

Siku Gatso bus

Siku V345 VW Bus radar

Looking a little heathier now. Thankfully the near impossible to recreate wheels weren't too bad, just needed a coat of matt black on the treads. Suspension was broken at the front, superglue to the rescue. A right fiddly b'stard to assemble with the sliding door and flap all wanting to fall out of place, no wonder this model was short lived

This is your friend when needing an extra few fingers to hold loose bits when reassembling.

Interesting book! Don't suppose you could take a pic of the reliant page?in case there's something I've not got! Think it might have been my Bond Minicar, I've got a Tober mk C, bought for all of £4 some years ago!

It is interesting and I think I only paid £5 from the author at a toy fair, I see him quite often so if anyone would like a book I'll see if he has any left next time he's there.

Of course I can take a pic, well two, you'll have to excuse Mrs Concern's hands holding the book open.

Reliant gets two spreads, but disappointingly no three wheelers.

They're pretty good - maybe not quite up to Vanguards (on a good day) quality, but definitely worth having.

I also acquired one in Peacock Blue when the casting was first released (Christmas present), as I was just so pleased to see a Firenza being modelled!

20171226_005155.jpg

But I'd far rather have one in Honey Starmist, as that's the shade my beloved Viva HC was painted (well, mostly).

So, if you're keen on one, I could well have a blue one that's surplus to requirements quite soon...

Is the pope a catholic!?😆

Please do let me know about your blue one, it’s probably the colour I’d have chosen tbh.

One of my eBay ill advised buys just arrived.

Nothing particularly interesting or special really. Just a rough Dinky Esso tanker trailer.

IMG_6626.thumb.jpeg.c71f8b036a24bf0ad509c0c265096c77.jpeg

Reason for wanting it was for potentially carving up for a custom project. Almost all the tankers you can buy now are either round or oval tank bodies and these style flat sided tankers were common on trucks of the 60’s and 70’s so the plan eventually will be to decide exactly what cab to pair it with, the cut it to length and remove most of the original Dinky chassis f wheels to leave just the tank body. That can then be grafted onto a suitable IXO/Altaya chassis then detailed to look more in keeping with modern models.

Despite appearances, it’s actually not in the worst condition. Everything apart from the top caps and hose on the side is there and ok.

Should have something a bit bigger coming on Monday too if the Royal Mail notification is anything to go by.

Nipped in Entertainer, wasn’t making a special journey there I was passing. Same stock as in September last year, no moving parts. Complete waste of time. If I’d driven there I’d be livid. 🤣

I finished the 3d printed Rover 600.

It's OK but it's too small a scale for me to work with really. I also need to squint a bit to make it not look like an E39 5 Series. I also couldn't smooth off the printing ridges without losing some detail definition so I left them which is not really what I wanted.

I used Glue N Glaze to make the side windows. I'd use it again but it's very fragile, and takes about 24hours to dry and go clear, so don't be in a hurry. I also used it for the headlights but you can't see it.

All in all, I'll stick to larger scales in future but it was a fun wee project plus it's basically impossible to get a model of this car otherwise.

That's FAB! I could never work that detail at such a small scale, 1/43 is small for me! Aside from that it looks great whatever scale!

I've gone down some right odd rabbit holes the last couple of evenings, about Matchbox bases.

Did you know the checkerplate finish on the sides of the ISO Grifo base can all face the same direction

Matchbox 14d ISO Grifo

Or opposite directions?

Matchbox 14d ISO Grifo

Apparently there's a version where they all face left too

That Smash N Crash Chevy Lumina was another one that sent me to various shady corners of the internet while I was trying to find out its official name (I'm still none the wiser, but the casting is 100% the Lumina. Here's the base

Matchbox Smash 'N' Crash Chevy Lumina

And a stock one for comparison, Thailand base

Lumina4.thumb.webp.1a76a3258893ac6fbabab35eb7056c70.webp

Another Thailand but you can see the Chevrolet Lumina lettering has been altered for some reason

Lumina6.thumb.webp.fe0327dc964e4bfc36311cfa6fc2dcf7.webp

China base

Lumina3.thumb.webp.57aa07b35cd4893581e56270b15a7c56.webp

So what's going on here, same casting but a different base with both exhausts exiting the same side

Evening all,

Have been a lurker on here for about 3 years and decided tonight (after a rum or two) to show my collection of model tat! I've been collecting since I was about 12 so just over 20 years now.

Have seen some great models on here over the years and thought I'd be able to document any purchases going forward on here. So here's a start.........

Looks great to me considering how much smaller it is in reality than the photos. That's the worst thing about such a small scale: what looks fine to the naked eye gets magnified and suddenly any tiny imperfection becomes much more noticeable when you photograph it.

And now for a couple of recent additions.........

The Dinky A30 was a Facebook marketplace find, started at a strong £50, reduced to £40 and my offer of £30 was accepted! Lovely original condition and not a common one to find.

The Spot-On Daimler was one I'd been after for a while in clean condition and this one came up on eBay reasonably priced.

And finally the Miura I was tempted to via Instagram. Not normally my kind of thing but it's absolutely stunning!
