Update time, after a very enjoyable and successful sunny day out yesterday:

IMG_4129.JPG.56642829a4e97776a93ab65e08bbe040.JPG

First up was a trip to the monthly local show and autojumble. MC Toys Mk1 MR2 might go the way of Miss SL's BF, and hopefully he can assist in doing whatever might be necessary to get the 300ZX running as he enjoys playing with small R/C stuff. Might just need new batteries, haven't tried. Scale looks to be around 1/20 and it's pretty decent as a display piece. Chevrolet Van (not U.S.) is the paramedic version. Pleasing to find the tidy Matchbox 480ES and also good to get some Majorette stuff (even if the Corvette is from that era when they fitted excessively wide wheels). Little did I know what I'd get later in the day....

IMG_4133.JPG.c62c0af520eaa603a6f705a24fcfc1e5.JPG

Next up was a visit to Poundstretcher. Nothing new there, but at £1.49 each I thought I'd add these to "might do a repaint one day" pile. Except when I got to the till the lad volunteered that they wouldn't scan so he got some random cheapo diecast from a bin near the till and scanned that in x3, then asking for a total of £1.77! Now wish I'd bought one or two more, but.....

I went into the charity shop nextdoor. I've previously found one or two decent things there in the 4 for £1 box so thought it would be worth a look. Walked upstairs to hear the dread sound of a kid rummaging enthusiastically through the box, while his mum picked out a few nice Britains pieces. At 25p each she did very nicely, wish I'd got there earlier. Loitered for a bit without looking too much like a weirdo (maybe unsuccessfully), then it was my turn. And this is what I got, ending up spending £10:

IMG_4134.JPG.5c3840834e7f371bedecdcbf5e5d4b99.JPG

Difficult to describe the joy of going through a box and turning up very decent Majorettes, many of which were new to me. Some other nice things too, let's have a closer look.....

IMG_4138.JPG.242c5c511e7cae0305108f808a7867dd.JPG

Second Escort Cabriolet in two weeks, this one 5p more expensive! Printed versions of the Siva and RX500 evaded me as a youngster, likewise the non-Streakers Hairy Hustler. The LR Ninety looks best in that plain clothes garb. Sand Cat pretty tidy, as was much of what I found in the box, would be interesting (and hopefully not too sad) to know where it all came from.

IMG_4137.JPG.0ee6e26c58f68ba0e9df6171dfe7d7a2.JPG

Mercedes is one of those castings where there always seems to be a different version to find. Ditto the van (U.S. this time, not Chevrolet).

IMG_4136.JPG.1c1b75b1ca8b9ee2c8d8c63ac2a39f09.JPG

Randoms. HW Hot Bird, not Firebird. Golf goes nicely with the other Sikus I seem to be slowly accumulating (definitely not collecting).

IMG_4149.JPG.aa4585765591f54456162bb405a01a2c.JPG

"Soft Drink" TM-dodging, by Yatming? Has the look of a '70s Japanese truck (and a dropped glazing issue).

IMG_4139.JPG.e9f17f3506ba86efe29b24681f6b1051.JPG

1/36 Majorette. I was aware of the Land Cruiser and Blazer, didn't know/had forgotten about this one.

IMG_4140.JPG.0f0d4b3f339cac8509ae4a720654cc55.JPG

Commercials and tractors (the latter new to me). That transporter thing is a little gormless-looking.

IMG_4143.JPG.3986bff4d5c8933394071e28ac0cb87a.JPG

And a nice selection of others, some of which were completely new to me. Have seen a couple of those R4-based JP4s for real over the years.

IMG_4141.JPG.680ab4ffbeeb6a9df8318e2c1f3b58e4.JPG

It has junk in the trunk.

IMG_4145.JPG.1cf1926ef0a3ca25a6dd2b4ea0fba679.JPG

IMG_4144.JPG.2e9a0bbeef9a5b226cbdbcd757246f5a.JPG

Finally the charming Autobianchi. Had a French teacher with one of these circa 1980/81.

I may well have missed others in the box, although I went through it as carefully as I could, but I'm very happy with what I did unearth. All for the price of just over one HW Premium....

Excellent haul, well done!

Posted

Not much of a weekend haul.

Did go in one of the B&Ms I dont normally go in. Plenty of Hot Wheels and Matchbox but the usual early '24 cases that are in every outlet in the town at the moment (the Proton & red GTV case for the Hot Wheels and the 70th anniversary Lexus and green Ranchero case for Matchbox. Everywhere!). They did, however, have quite a lot of the Hot Wheels F&F semi-premium range that I got most of last month. However, the modern supercar one seemed impossible to find, until today.

IMG_20240915_120405.jpg.6176bb89189691c4bb155d99cf802e9a.jpg

Have to admit that I'd never even heard of the snappily-titled W Motors Lykan Hypersport before this HW collection came out. It's apparently the first Middle-Eastern sports car, but designed and built in Italy using mainly German mechanicals. (The engine is a RUF built flat-six so presumably theres a bit of Porsche in there somewhere). At a mere $3.4 million dollars though, it's not exactly up my street... (Although, maybe,  one day I'll be able to cash in my collection of Vanguards Fords and afford one 🤣)

IMG_20240915_123954.jpg.edfe1d9794cab017bb36a633b73d05b5.jpg

This Hot Wheels version though, is still a nice little thing. It's a nice colour and pretty well detailed,

IMG_20240915_120530.jpg.9ed7c2782328db39286c2fc1355b954b.jpg

And thats all 5 of the Dominic Toretto F&F ones got now. (But I'm not a completist.)

IMG_20240915_121044.jpg.39f56aba80c2d95902f831502d56e4b4.jpg

At Asda, they had a few more of these Anniversary 'avec tin' editions. Everything apart from the bloody Renault 5 which is the one I was after!

IMG_20240915_121100.jpg.d5a918a85ade7bf8dd83c63456adca34.jpg

This Skyline attracted me though,. And it is nice to finally have nice Majorette content in there.

IMG_20240915_121152.jpg.abe1d6d50c24cdfc2b5912511661c6e1.jpg

Bit of trouble again actually paying for it, as this one wouldn't scan either, but the assistant sorted it.

Not too much found this morning that we haven't seen before, but this Hot Wheels Fiero is pretty cool and not one I've laid eyes on previously

I had one of those Dinky Rolls Royce’s. It was totally battered, doors broke off, bootlid gone, even the driver had disappeared!

About 18 months ago I got my brother into Hot Wheels, and he's become quite the collector although he's ultra keen on finding them in shops as opposed to buying online. He has found a super and a chase car in two local to him shops, and he also joined the RLC and will occasionally buy one for me, which is very nice!

This turned up over the weekend:PXL_20240915_162543402.jpg.86a8fb843bf6eb7a0e97de3e7c2a75d8.jpg

It looks great. I so rarely buy any HW these days so it's nice to be bought a good one.

I forgot to post about the toy fair last weekend which was most memorable for getting there too late to meet @bunglebus.

Nothing very exciting or cheap

I did get the first Dinky repros I've had for a decent price (I discovered when I got home and looked on ebay at what they go for)

I haven't got around to taking them out or even removing the cling wrap

Went to Brighton yesterday and bought these two

How did I miss the Dinkys? I did feel that particular toy fair suffered from a lack of bargains as some of the sellers were at Sandown the day before. Roll on 13th of October

Those Dinkys were out on a limb by the toilets! I need to get them out of the boxes and have a look.

We shan't be going to another one at Rayleigh as it was a crazy journey especially going home when the M25, the Blackwall tunnel and London bridge were all closed!

Having said that, Mrs Concern did come home with a huge bag full of stuff fo her projects so you never know...

Looking forward to seeing that in a ‘darting about the kitchen floor’ video!

Even if the R/C electronics are fried, I like to just jump the circuit to run the motor and lock the wheels to let it run about in circles.  The cat loves* that sort of idea.

A couple of parcels arrived this afternoon. First contained a Neet Streeter, I wasn't aware of this particular version before

I did already have it but this one is in such good shape I couldn't resist. I think I have all of them now except a few of the really obscure Playart versions, and none of my Hulk ones have the green fellow in his cage - not going to worry about that having seen how much good examples cost!

Almost no defects or casting lines to sort out - but they definitely resorted to witchcraft to attach the paint, it's a pain to remove!

With the original - bigger, but not by too much

The Opel GT is a Schuco and well detailed for a 1/43. Missing it's mirrors but I'll try to find something to replace them.

The Manta is a wierd 1. Made from resin I think but no markings at all.

The axle location parts are interesting to say the least, small nuts and a strip of sticky tape for the rear..

Good score on those, especially the German G Wagon combo

Posted

I’ve been working my way through a few unfinished projects lately, just adding in details etc etc.

But, I ordered some 3D printed truck cabs a while back, which have now arrived so I’ve started sorting a chassis for the first one.
This one’s an early AEC Ergomatic cab which will become an 8x4 flatbed. The cabs are all 1:43 so hopefully this means I don’t need to keep modifying old Dinky cabs!
The donor chassis for this one is the old chassis from the Spanish Dodge I converted to a tractor unit a while back. It does need some modification to work though.

It’s clearly too long as it is. I’ve started by cutting the original cab base plate down so the new cab sits better.

IMG_5742.jpeg.e5c4d26bd74213196267223371a1c94a.jpeg

IMG_5740.jpeg.b531685aea3eb2924a23bba93f434034.jpeg

With that done, I decided to remove everything from the chassis frame - axles and suspension just unclip, but I had to cut away the cast on fuel tank, air tanks and tool box. These are all either wrong style or the wrong side anyway.

Once they were removed it means you can refit the suspension and axles loose and just move them up and down the chassis until it looks right. While I was at it I decided to reduce the spacing between the axle pairs and swap the two rear drive axles around so the one with the differential is visible from the back, like you can see on real trucks.

IMG_5755.jpeg.8de8b73013c5c20c308d539b283caf2d.jpeg

You can see here using the original mud guard frame from this chassis how much I’ve actually moved them!

IMG_5761.jpeg.0afd9f481c8ed63d19010a413cad32db.jpeg

After all this I chopped the overall length down, and replaced the rear most cross member as it was lost when the end of the chassis came off.

I’ve cut up the mud guard frame and glued that back on as it also gives the rear body something to sit on and raise it to the right height over the wheels.

Obviously the wheels are the wrong style (apart from the lighter blue set which I temporarily took from a trailer) so will be swapped eventually. I’ll probably need to make a replacement fuel tank as it needs to be the cylindrical type rather than square. And the printed cab needs a clean up to get rid of the remaining stub things from the printing process.

The lengths you’ve got to go to, to get what you want!!

All as new but unboxed Corgi Vanguard’s Cavalier SRI’s.
I was looking for one, but found a seller in China selling these in a lot so decided 5 is always better than 1 right!?

Im going to keep a couple for myself, but anyone fancy one?

How much do you want? I've already got several myself, but if cheap enough then why not?
