Anyone know how well these are selling? It's been around a while now but I'm pretty damn certain I've never seen one on the road. Anywhere.

I know it's not the most distinctive of cars but I've kind of made it a challenge to see one because I just don't think anyone has actually bought one yet!!!

Quite a handsome little car. What's the story then? Are they not selling well for some reason?

Previous models have sold millions.

Funnily enough I spotted one yesterday and didn't know what it was at first, I thought it was a Kia/Hyundai/Daihatsu or something equally tragic.

Is it a "new" car or is it just a reskin of the old Micra? Whatever it is, it looks utterly dull & forgettable.

I've seen a couple of these around Norwich. They don't seem anything like as popular as the K12, do they? Perhaps people are cottoning on to the fact that modern Nissans are essentially Renaults underneath...

Posted

I've seen a few about. They're quite well camouflaged though cos from any distance the headlights/grill affair makes them look like a BINI, and from every other angle they seem to be entirely anonymous.

Posted

Its an all new car and it's only been out for just over a year. Not a huge seller but sales are starting to pick up.

Posted

The press have given it a right doing. It's been design as a world car so has milder styling than the last Micra, which doesn't seem to appeal quite as much to folks in the UK when you can get a Fiat 500 for similiar £££.

There's a dark red one on my street. "meh" sums it up quite nicely, and you can only get them as a 5 door

Posted

Hmmm. I dont think I've seen one about to be honest, there a fair few in the Nissan dealers. I saw one in exactly the same colour as my Micra in a dealership whilst trying to find some small proper Nissan '16v' badges which they wanted about £35 for - each

The current design looks to be a coming together of bothe the late facelift K11 and K12 designs:

(The K11 in the middle pic is my car by the way)

I've only seen a handful, but I think I get them confused with the current Corsa. Shame, the K12 was one of the best looking small cars available. The new one... 'meh' is definitely the best way to describe it.

Posted

How much of the K12 comes via Renault?

I like the look of them and they are almost at shiter pricing levels.

The new one just looks shit....

Posted

TBH, I didn't realise that was the current Micra... :?

I do know they no longer make them in Sunderland though, as I have a mate who works on the production line.

He builds Quashquis and Jukes. The Quashqui+2 has been a complete sales disaster though, so apparently the plan is that, as every 4th Quasqui on the production line is a '+2' they are replacing every 4th spot on the Quashqui line with the Nissan Leaf. They've built the battery plant and all the associated gubbins in preparation for production. The staff are worried... They've also doubled the size of the Nissan factory in Russia. He gives Sunderland less than 10 years... :(

I was looking at one parked outside Chorley Nissan on Friday (as you do sat waiting for the lights to change to green) and I thought it didnt look as big as the K12, more like the K11 I was sat in. Are they as big as the K12 or are they smaller?

Posted

I must admit, I honestly thought the current model was just a reskinned K12 given the similar shape of the side profile (door glass in particular. I though they'd just toned it down. It's not hugely different at the back either - those rear lights look really awkward to me - as if they've been bolted onto the quarter panels as an afterthought.

No, I've not seen many at all. Intact, near enough all the small handful I've seen have been accident/repair company rentals. I think I've only seen one that hasn't been sigh written in some way.

Nissan lost it with the last Micra and I imagine it lost a lot of it's core buyers with it's oddball looks. I though the interior was okay to be honest (especially in beige) but I could never grow to love that 'gloopy' rear end or those headlights. For me, the Micra 'died' after the K11.

Having many relatives in Sunderland, I was worried when they took the Micra away and I question the cost and longevity of the Leaf. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but without many 'bread and butter' cars manufactured there (I see no appeal at all in the Juke) I do think the plant is now on borrowed time.

So am I the only one who really like it??

I think its got nice simple styling (Trust me, I'm a design student  ).

If it anything like the K12 then it'll be pretty easy to drive, and If its anything like the K11 then it'll do millions of miles to the gallon. All in all for the prices you have to pay nowadays for a Supermini (11k+) the little korean looking Micra seems to offer a nice overall pachage, compared to its expensive and oversized counterparts.

:D

I like the new Micra too. Nissan playing it a little safe with the design I guess as the K12 looked odd.

I'd say sales are starting to pick up a bit on the new Micras. I cover about 1400 miles a week and see quite a few on the roads now.

Mutha201 bought one a few months ago. TBH it was a no brainer for her. Cost just under 8k (she'd also been looking at a Picanto and i10 and even they couldnt come near on price). For that it was the bottom of the range spec but still has remote locks, leccy bins, decent CD stereo with MP3 socket. Build doesnt seem too bad either, no worse than the k11 or 12, both of which I've owned. The new 1.2 3- pot is extremely gutsy as well. The styling might not be as exciting as the previous two were, (I agree it looks like a love child of the two) but up close it does grow on you. In Essex Racing White like mutha's, it looks quite sharp. Factor in 5 years servicing, warranty, breakdown and £35 a year tax, theres no other small car on the market that came anywhere near. Fiesta, Corsa, 500 etc were all 10k or over. Mutha's very happy with it.

That's a good discount. Basic Micras start from £10k. More car than the Picanto and i10 too. :D

Seriously?? I thought the K12 looked bloody awful. K10's and 11's are great though.

I see no appeal at all in the Juke

You may not, but buyers seem to be lapping them up. The only car that has outdone the Juke in terms of 'suddenly they're everywhere' to me is the Range Rover Evoque. I didn't realise there were that many estate agents around here...

Back to topic though, I've only seen a couple of these Micras. They are tediously dull in a way the previous one just wasn't.

Crossovers = another bloody fad for bored middle aged housewives and people called Nigel who work in Hair Salons with names like Curl up and Dye.

I had a K12 1.5TD, i wouldn't have another, especially after the electric power steering failed driving down the A14 at 70 mph.

I'm sure the new Micra is fit for purpose but i wouldn't be expecting to see many on the road still in 25 years time like the original K10.

I want a JUKE!!! There not practical, but i think they look brilliant! There small enough for town driving, have a good array of engine choices and better yet, the prices start from just £14K. Thats a good 2-3K less than the VW Golf and Focus (Which has serious put on allot of weight recently, There ma-hussive!!!!)

Regarding the K12 Micra's, i personally thought that there where really really ugly!

If i was going to buy a new car tomorrow, It would almost definitely be either a Juke or the New Micra, I dont know why, as i detest modern cars. But all the other New cars on the market, Dont float my boat, so to speak, as much as they do.

I take new Picanto any day of the week over the bland Micra.

It's probably a decent enough car at the end of the day but I suspect Nissan as a brand is losing market share these days anyway.

They simply dont make the bullet proof cars they used to.

I like the look of the juke as well - it's quirky and that's great. Couldn't see myself buying one.

Saw an Evoque the other week....it is bloody tiny! I'd go for an equally tiny KIA sportage....

Everybody I know thought the K12 was a cracking looking little car....

I gotta say, city cars are one of my least favourite things, but I'm really getting to like my courtesy car. Yes, it's ugly as fuck, but it's nowhere near as cheap and nasty as I expected.

Christ that's fugly! What is it? Apart from a stylistic mess that is!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

It really is an ugly bastard. It's a Chevy Spark. I was expecting a rebranded Daewoo Matiz with added American plastics. I was very wrong. Once you're safely inside, you can almost forgive the bugger for it's looks

The Micra is now made in Thailand, I bet that would put a few giffers off if they ever found out! (Edit: this comment is not aimed at Mother201!!)

One of the magazines (Autocar) said it was OK but pretty unimaginative compared to the K11/K12 design. It's kind of obvious they only expect it to sell to those who've bought Nissans/Datsuns since 1977, or serial Micra purchasers, or people who buy the same car as the one they learnt to drive in.

I loved the K11, it was a brilliant little car. I've never driven a K12 and thought the K10 was a fairly grim tin box, though I can appreciate their longevity.
