There seem to be three projects going on there, the mini, the Anglia (ace, by the way) and the Mk1 Cortina.

What are they like now?

Yes, the once upon a time Magenta Dolly was pretty much as pink as the pics suggest! Was one hell of a car that, sat just right once lowered, sounded awesome with the stainless system too. I do miss it.

 

Projects? Hmmm the Mini was finished years ago and is with a new owner.

The Cortina doesn't really need much now, rest of the body going down to bare metal before painting back up and it needs a new n/s sill popping on. I've been slowly getting together the things I want for it like slot mags, a 1650 711m block, A6 cam, 40's etc but due to a few personal issues it got put on the back burner and the Anglia was bought. That was only meant to need minor welding so I was going to sort it and use as a daily, but as with all old shite, once you start pulling things apart you find all the old bodges hidden. I made a start with things but an operation which took me out of action all summer, coupled with rapidly failing health has meant it will have to wait until the weather improves and I'm feeling a bit better. I've also now found issues with the engine now I've actually ran it up to temp, so that'll have to be rebuilt too before the car can see the road again. I'm kinda disheartened by it as it isn't the car I thought it was and I lost my mojo a bit with it to the point I thought about breaking it, but I'm ok now and it still makes me smile when I look out the window or come home.

Is it the one litre engine or the 1200 in the Anglia? If it has got to come out I'd go for the upgrade. A mate of mine had an Anglia Super with the 1200 and used to do some awesome times at events.

It's a stage 3 1550 with all steel bottom end, lightened and balanced, forged pistons, 244 cam to make it at least usable on the road and a pair of 40's.
