Time to cut out the rust above the rear shock. Hope my skills with a grinder match those with a welder: that is a lot of missing metal. Getting a bit worried here. What a crap detail Volvo - talk about a rust trap.
Well pleased with my metal fab skills here - made the new inner wing in one piece . Didn't take one with the welding complete but you get the idea.

    Incoming!
Man maths says this should not count against me in 2024 because I first asked to buy this 1968 Morris 1300  in July 2022 and it has taken this long to come to fruition!
As I knew I was buying a car that needed some fettling I had it taken to the FoD but when it arrived it started easily and sounded sweet so when it became time to go back to the house I could not resist taking it home. It has a bit of a misfire but still cruised along at 50 mph no trouble.
Winter is not a great time for a 55 year old BMC product, but I am looking forward to the summer with it.

    Evening all
For some years now I have been looking for a big Fiat from the 80's or 90's but it had to have an Auto box.
Apart from a very ropy Croma in Isleworth last year, nothing has ever come up and I had accepted that I would never own a fantasticaly mediocre Italian car.
Then out of nowhere, a terrible Facebook ad appeared with one blurry picture of a Bravo/Brava/Marea. Knowing that many users cannot understand the term "Automatic Transmission", I didn't get my hopes up but after a quick check not only was it an Automatic, it was a Weekend!!!
So, after much back and forth, trying to find if anything had ever been serviced on this poor car, here she is......my Fiat Marea 1.6 100 ELX Weekend!

The car has been off the road for over a year, has no MOT and I have absolutely no service history.
So new belts, gearbox and engine service are a must but from the outside at least, it looks very tidy and there doesn't appear to be any noticeable rot* plus it has only done 27,000 miles.
    What could possibly go wrong?

Also started doing a bit of digital art which I've made into T-shirts using a print on demand service so I don't have to hold any physical stock. I've not made an awful lot from the T-shirts having sold about £1k worth so far but I do enjoy the fact that someone somewhere might be wearing one of my shite designs.
Here's some I've done so far...

The last one was a request that someone paid £60 for just for the design.

And that brings us up to November 2023 which includes:

The 504 which was already done once before, the winner collected it then stuck it up for sale for £4500, unsurprisingly nobody bought it and eventually he'd given up trying to sell it having made very little effort so asked if I wanted to buy it back. I did and it went again last Sunday.
This week we have the 1985 Nissan Bluebird.

And next week is the LDV Pilot.

Some of these cars were bought from forum members and some were won by ex forum members, The Lexus went to Pogweasel and the Honda H100 went to Breadvan...

August was a busy month as I'd started accumulating too much stuff and needed multiple giveaways to clear space so went from one a week to sometimes three.
    Here's the shite from August.

With those away I continued as I had before, I'd made some money, freed up some space but was still at the same job, falling into the same habits and buying more shite for entertainment. In May I got rid of these.

I started having a little bit more fun with advertising these and making videos for them.

Hello, I've had a much needed break from posting on the forum in any great detail but now I'm feeling like I have some interesting shite to share.
I regret deleting my previous tat thread which spanned a decade of buying and selling shite so with this thread I aim to update it regularly with vehicles I have coming and going.  I've been raffling cars a lot this year so this first post will summarise how and why it started.
It's largely done through Facebook, but I do have a separate website which can be used without FB at https://retroshite.com/ and a place to buy merch at https://retroshite.shop
In April I was having a tough time at work, forced into night shift and really struggling to cope with it, one of my coping mechanisms was to buy cars to entertain myself with when I wasn't at work but started accumulating far too much shite and became weighed down with it all so decided to have a mega clear out!

I'd ended up with around 17 cars and a bunch of motorbikes so decided to start raffling them as a hassle free way of getting rid of stuff.
In April I got rid of these:

The 505 gti did surprisingly well and made over 5 months wages at what then was my current job and was the catalyst for escaping my regular working life.

Today was collection day for the Volvo 480ES, I known it is traditional to announce a new car the day you get it and I blurted it out a week ago. In my defence I was excited about having another 480 and I had paid for it, the V5C was transferred into my name on line and I had the keys even if it was still parked on the sellers drive.
I am grateful to @Prince_of_darkness91 for coming with me and driving it 67 miles home for me. What we discovered was the car runs very well on city streets, the M1 Motorway and in queuing traffic on the A5 all with no hiccups.  OK it has faults it a Volvo 480, electrical gremlins include central locking not working, dash computer does little and it is damp inside and mists up when parked. But all in all I am very pleased with my purchase.
What car do you take to collect your Volvo, another Volvo of course this time a V70 that Mrs6C has had since 2006.
I got you a petrol station first fill shot.
Yes the pop up headlights work perfectly.

So close! I'm now the owner of 1 of 9 remaining pre-facelift BMW 540i MANUAL shifted Tourings! The combination of big V8, manual gearbox and estate body is pretty much unheard of and very few are left (they barely existed in the first place).
Naturally a purchase has just been made, very nice seller. About to start the 200 mile drive home, wish me luck!

Well, most of the past couple of weeks has been spent with a toothbrush and degreaser wiping off 35 years of grime. Pretty grotty.

Plus, brushing up the rocker cover and giving it a bit of a spruce up. Got my '12V' sticker ready and waiting to go on.

And my clutch arrived in correct period packaging.

Next step is to wait on a couple of replacement hoses and then reassemble water pump, thermostat etc.

This is my dads Lna that he’s owned for at least  20 years . It spent very little time on the road in those years but I can remember myself using it as a daily for a few months but it’s mainly been kept in dry storage while dad tinkers with it with varying degrees of success .
Fast forward until a month or two ago when it was dragged out of storage and transported to my brothers field . Who then lost the keys .
After removing the steering lock ( carefully as I’m not exactly tripping over new ones for lnas 😂) I then found the service book with the bloody key numbers on . A local locksmith cut me a new ign and boot key for £15 . Legend !

A quick look over on the ramp reveals it’s still bloody solid and I don’t think it’s had or going to need any welding . The paint is well worn and it has surface rust on it but an ideal candidate for an oily rag resto I reckon .

Well blow me down - a quick suck through of fuel from the tank , hook up a fresh battery and she fires straight up . I do remember dad fitting and NOS carb to it a few years back .
The original idea was my wife was going ti use this as her daily when the lease E Up goes back but I can’t see her liking the experience after a modern electric car but time will tell .
    Why a sad tale ?
About 7 years ago dad was diagnosed with dementia and is going downhill quite rapidly now . But he still asks about the LNA ( and the Mk1 BX )
So I’m looking forward to taking him out , maybe to a few car shows , in it when it’s on the road .
Must stop looking at the subframe design and thinking it would make a bloody good trials car tho 😂
I’ll get some more pics today !

These were so common in Ireland at one point; a real rarity to see now; that bonnet rust is misleading, it seemed fairly solid
