Ok, we've had the Belmont factor, what about those aftermarket estate jobbies?

Like these 604 estates.

Or this one off 300 SEL 6.3 Estate. One of my favourite cars of all time.

Or these bloody things.

Or this, which I consider an affront to SD1ism.

and this, which is just plain rank.

Um, this actually doesn't look as bad as the fastback to me.

Yeuchh.

Is that a Volvo tailgate on that SD1? Looks familiar somehow... :?

I like the Rover p6 estate and regret not buying the cheap one offered to me in 1989 (£150)

Think so, think it's off a 144/244. The 604 'gate on the top pic is definately Mk1/2 Granada.

Don't know if they ever actually built this, but if they did, I want it. Badly.

Even this would do if there was a way to put the X300 front on.

Hopefully nobody will recreate this.

More of this would be good though, just don't let any Goth's near it.

This, to me, is one of the best looking BMWs ever.

Not sure this counts, as it's an estate conversion of an estate. Pretty bonkers though!

Not the most obvious candidate for an estate conversion  :

I was wondering what the extension is below the rear bumper on this

168426_10150089718359644_804084643_5848199_7580972_n.jpg

then I remembered that the fuel tank on a 604 is behind the rear seats, so I suspect that they have put the fuel tank below the rear bumper

nice

I love the e28 tourings. It's one of those cars they sold in europe but never bothered their arse bring it over here for some reason.

Also the e34 M5 touring is ace. Another one they never brought over for no real reason.

I wish BMW had made these.

Not sure if this counts

It's the Friary Anglia conversion done before the estate was launched in 1962, they did a cheaper version after this using the orignal saloon side glass. I believe one is left and known to the Anglia club but i've never seen it.

When the Ford estate was launched they fizzled away. I quite like it and suits it well IMO

That SD1/Volvo is a fucking crime against humanity....some strange Dr Frankenstien has interbred two great cars into creating one horrible funcking monster of an abortion of a car....quite ghastly...

mind you .....I've always been a frightful pervert.....quite appeals if I'm honest :twisted::shock::shock:

Does this count, as it was actually a Ford built thing?

If this is real, it's cooler than a polar bear's ball bag.

I knew this one would appear! I owned one exactly the same back in 98. It was really comfy, really quiet and massive. Sadly it was a 1.8 8v and whilst that engine might have been exciting in a mildly warm Clio, it might as well have been a lawnmower engine in a car this size. I look at the car now and imagine the quite attractive clay model of the Laguna that had been carefully presented to the design department - who promptly shrugged their shoulders and presented it to Hannibal and the rest of The A Team, who in turn knocked up this shit using the several lengths of pipework, a sheet of 6x4 and a tarpaulin that was kept in the back of their van.

Heated rear side windows were. . . pointless.

If you took at a photo of a Rodius and block out the top part, it looks like a BMW X6, and would possibly be less pointless.
