Question for A-frame users, MASERATI JOY

I have a pair of solid offside doors for a 4-door Biturbo sat in my shed if they're ever of any use, although from what I remember of the eBay listing for that car the doors were about the only non-rusty bit on it.

Only 150 miles? and only 1200kg? I could stick that on the LT and bring it to you!

Woo hoo, my ear is getting better and I have found some money down the back of the sofa that will mean I can just about afford to buy this thing without Ms_Bol feeling that I have prioritised rusty old bangers above the electricity bill etc etc.

I have done a little digging on this car, I remember seeing it on eBay about a year ago. First it was £550 BIN and i dithered, no one bought it then it was £375 bin and I was having a fuggin convulsion, fortunately someone else got to it before me. Now its back and this time I grabbed it!

It did belong to some lad off Johnno's stomping ground - popular classics. These pics are about a year old. I remember seeing another thread about how it came into his custody but I can't find that now.

Excellent skills Bollox. It was quite obvious you had the major horn for a Maser' by the amount pages you filled with them on the Ebay thread. Looking forward to tails of woe and regret that only these cars can supply. I'd love one.

With regards to explaining to the Mrs, good luck. I have been put on a shite buying ban by Mrs.Alexg although spend most nights on ebay bidding. She went ape when I bought RedSparrows MG Metro last year as I predicted. We were just buying our first home together at the time and I was living with the folks. After collecting the car from RS I parked it down the road hoping she would'nt notice on her arrival that evening. I'll never forget opening the front door as she pulled up to an angry "Please don't tell me that piece of shit down there is yours!"

Have you any idea of how crusty it actually is or are you just assuming the worst? Are you clearing out any of the fleet to make way?

I've never ever seen one in real life so it'll flipping brilliant to see it on the road plus it is the ulim8 super-shite.

Well done on your new purchase Bolser.

Nice looking motor that. In that colour it also TEH SEX.

Good Work. Hope you have a successful delivery :D

I so nearly bought a red one of these about 15 years back -but the rust was prodigious -even by Eyetalian standards. Sounded lovely -but I just couldnt reconcile the hours needed .

However -its only metal, innit!

Good luck Sir -I look forward to reading your progress. Whats now taking 'a back seat'?

What's the plan for this? Just to get it to MOT standard or a full on resto?

Bloody hell, excellent work Bo11ox. Looking forward to seeing this develop, whats happening with the 929 though?

Rusty Biturbo for a few hundred quid? What could possibly go wrong????

:P

Nice work Bo1!, only question is (without meaning to sound like your misses) will you be finishing any of your other projects off first before starting this one?.

It doesnt look all that hideously rotten in the pics to me. OK the front wings look frilly but thats nowt. How bad can it be?

(I'm just putting that there to give someone the pleasure of launching it back in my face when I find an 18" chasm of rot in the centre of the bulkhead)

I'm assuming the BEST, i.e. there will be no other grot beyond what is clearly depicted in the eBay ad.

Aye well thats a good point, Argenta will be hitting the road as soon as I can find time to get down the DVLA office, and the Avenger is staying in the workshop till its roadworthy, more or less. and YES I'LL MOW THE LAWN, I SAID I WOULD DIDNT I, LET ME FINISH THIS CUP OF TEA AT LEAST :roll::roll::roll::roll::)

Here's another idea - I could always put it through a MoT, then you have an idea of how much work it needs*

*to meet the minimum requirement for roadworthiness

Now that's a good offer! MrB, you're a hero, and I really hope this works out for you. Who couldn't want a Maserati on their driveway? FFS, it's one of the greatest names you can have on a car! It's also a Bond-villain car, so extra kudos!

It's the ultimate winner's car alright. Yet another Mr B thread to look forward too as well.

I reckon Mr_B's next mota' will be a Dutton Sierra (Q reg obviously) powered by a Maserati lump... I said elsewhere am very jealous, its similar to that nice mid/late 80's VAG colour too. I still think fit some Cortina badges and park up at some show, see if anyone notices

I've been thinking of forcing an unholy allegiance between the 604 and a Maserati BiTurbo lump. A kinda "What if?" transplant.

Nah, Citroen CX. I'll wager Citroen had a go at building one.

All this talk got me thinking. About 15 or so (maybe more now) years ago, when Max Power was still a car magazine, didn't one of the staffers have a Maser powered Fiat Uno?

Posted

Woohoo, another Maserati owner!

Welcome to the world of poverty "supercar" ownership  What engine's in it? The 2.5 for that year, I suspect...

If you haven't already got it, you can download a .pdf copy of the official Maserati workshop manual here: http://quattroporte.online.fr/biturbo_s ... manual.htm

Feel free to pm me if you have any problems, I might be able to help. Also, there's a chap called David Askew that runs a specialist Maserati breakers if you need any bits, see his website here: http://www.davidaskew.co.uk/

Regardless of where you're going they'll know you've arrived.

Regardless of where you're going they'll know you've arrived because you're on the back of a massive yellow AA low loader :)
