(copied from another forum, no apologies for my laziness)

Its taken me a while to get some pictures up. but here they are.

I picked up a 1983 Maestro HLE last weekend, I am so pleased with my latest purchase.

There is so much service history with the car, everything ever done to the car between 1983 to late 2010 is recorded on a hand written spreadsheet, and has had an oil change every 6 months in that period!

The original bill of sale from Lavender Hill Garages in Enfield, The undersealing certificate done when new, the original V5. all there, and now laminated for posterity :)

I have never driven such a well maintanined A+ engine at 69k miles, it starts instantly with the turn of the key, and is so quiet at running that it puts my 30k mile-er to shame.

here are some pictures of her, she really is as good as she looks, garaged from new. the only issue is the front bumper is taped, but i have a replacement ready to go on.

the drivers seat is covered (from new) so i will only take it off for shows!

As mentioned before, the chassis number on this car is in the low 5000's this is the lowest number known to the club, could it be the oldest maestro in existance?

p.s check out the awesome period washer fluid heater.

WOW!!!!!! That is simply STUNNING

That is really amazing! Just the sort of car that I like to see pottering about :D

It also goes to show how badly-designed the Maestro's original dashboard was. No wonder the Montego's dashboard was adopted across the range.

That's museum-quality, wow. Just amazing.

I rate these so much higher than the later models where they made some cack-handed efforts to modernise them without spending more than fifteen quid. Centrecaps, metal bumpers, and that oh-so Austin interior. I had an '83 Austin brochure once and the whole thing was just a sea of tweed.

The stuff dreams are made off!, It's remarkable that there's Maestro left like that out there!

That is fappin' ace. So fappin' ace infact, that I might fapp myself in abit of a frenzy.

Jesus H Christ... Now that is what I call a find! Looks pretty much as flawless as Maestro's get today. A real stunner and a genuine show piece.

Loving that rear boot spoiler...! Not seen one of those on a Maestro for a very long time!

Any chance of seeing that at 'Chumley' a week on Sunday?:) I’ll bring some surgical gloves...!

Flaming Norah, that really is a honey. Top work old bean, suitably impressed and jealous in equal measure.

Sounds like a few 'shiters will be off to PC World for new keyboards tomorrow morning.

lovely mate really lovely - nothing like an A+ ticking away under the bonnet

I'm sorry if this makes me sound a complete novice but being an HLE, does it have the talking dash?

Loving the Y-reg earliness of it. I remember seeing one of those steel wheels in Greengrass's yard on an episode of Heartbeat years ago!
