Any idea when we'll see it in its finished glory, Ian B?

This bASe has won the lottery of life!

The Base is being painted tomorrow and I'm starting to put things back together at the weekend.

First outing is a local show on the 17th of May at a place called Stody Lodge, about 20 mins away from home.

They normally get 500 plus cars go.

Not really been all that enthused about this car, but that looks great and makes me want to have the express painted..

Looks absolutely fantastic👍

All you have to do now is reassemble it without scratching it😬

Excellent find. Those rare early Ghia trims go very nicely with the colour that makes it appear even more modern. Titan Blue?

Beautiful👍

Look at the shine on it! Theres something very appealing about shiny red paint.

They forgot to paint the front grille.

I think I would be lynched!

Wow! That's the best it's looked in decades. I wonder what old Leroy would make of it.

Sod an RS500. This is the sort of Mint Mk1 Sierra I want to see!

Don't forget your 1.6 badge.

You don't want people thinking you drive a mere 1.3!

It was an amazing stroke of luck that a real Sierra botherer ended up winning this.

I wonder how many base Sierra owners back in the day grabbed a rattle can from their local Halfords and painted that grill body colour.

Until recently, I never quite understood all the fuss over this motor if truth be told. Regardless of that, it's clearly ended up with the right owner - I wonder how close it came to ending up with someone who would have turned it into yet another Cossie rep?!

Cracking work!

Actually if this one had had its grill painted forty years ago would it still be here in 2026 ?

Looks brilliant, reminds me of the Sierra 1.6 'laser' we had when I was a kid. Similar end to the plate too, HOO 501Y in a light metallic blue iirc
