11pm last night a newly passed 17yr old did this to my 1966 Fiat 1100r

sliding off that, & on,into my B1000 Barkas

and finally coming to rest against my Renault Colorale.

Clearly the Fiats totalled, Barkas probably too.

4up,inhisX plateFiesta, he couldnt leg it- all his wheels were pointing in different directions.

Police-quickly on the scene, established current insurance.

So -my serious question to you shiters:-

How much should I ask for each, what should I settle for?

Want both back as salvage -Fiat for spares, Barkas to sort.

Never seems to stop raining here...

You are really suffering with bad luck aren't you?

Buy them all back!

Are the police going to charge him with anything?

Posted

Blimey, sorry to see that, you don't seem to be having much luck!

Do you live on a dodgy bend or something? As I seem to remember an early 127 got totalled outside your house not long back?

Posted

I live on a straightline.

The 127 & Fuego were deliberate-and have been''sorted''.

This was a daft17 yr old, hooning his 'newcar' on a straight greasyroad.

No likelihood of charges-but 100% liability.

Sorry Nigel but you must the the most unluckiest person I know! At least they are insured, I bet your premium is going to be a bugger at renewal though!

Posted

I'm not claiming. my insureres wont be involved.I'll sort this myself.

They were parked up,off road.

His responsibility-100%.

Its going to hit his premium hard though- his Fiesta is toast too.

Weigh up the cost of importing another of each and ask them for that - if the insurance argue the toss simply ask them to find like for like within this country then.

Hit them with as much documentary proof as possible about the cost of each car, the work done and the cost of importing.

I think the Fiat is probably worth the best part of eleventy billion - the Bakhaus a bit less.

Posted

Any way of claiming that the accident goosed the locks and evaporated the back seat on the Datsun?

Posted

Sorry Nigel but you must the the most unluckiest person I know!

Second that!

At least the Barkas is saveable. If you can get enough dosh from the guys insurers then the Fiat probably is too, although i'm sure the cost of importing another one would be considerably less than repairing that mess. Hard to tell from the picture, but it doesn't look TOO banana-shaped.

This has pissed me right off (again)

on the plus side, you are definitely due an enormous spate of Very Good Luck Indeed...

Posted

No idea on the others, but the Barkas must be £1500 to find another one?

As said, you're just going through a spot of bad luck, back to normal soon I hope

Posted

I don't know how you maintain your sense of humour Nigel.

I would be seriously considering weighing the lot in and getting a nice little Hyundai on easy finance!

Keep the faith! :)

Posted

Fuggin 'ell. If you didn't have bad luck then you wouldn't have any luck at all :( Must be gutted, really don't know how you maintain the enthusiasm for it at the moment.

I'd say FT's suggestion sounds good - look at what the cost of replacing them would be and go from there.

Posted

Bloody hell Nigel, that's terrible news and you don't half have some bad luck. These things seem to come in phases and I truly hope your luck changes for the better evry soon.

As regards values the best way (usually*) is to check in AutoTrader (insurance companies use AT for valuing stuff themselves) and classic car magazines. If there are any owners clubs for these in Blighty ask them to give a pre-accident valuation for the respective vehicles, and dig out all the service history, receipts for work carried out etc and keep hold of them as they all help the value.

If you think the insurance company are taking the piss ref. the offers they will make then a decent 'no win, no fee' solicitor will sort them out no bother. Mine did on two seperate occasions and both times I got the proper market price for my cars.

*I say usually because there won't be hundreds of your type of vehicles advertised in AT and the like.

Posted

Oh no, FFS indeed! I hope you win the lottery or find a pot of gold today, you deserve a bit of luck now.

There's only 1 solution Mr B , emigrate to the quarter acre paradise, and start another collection 8)

Posted

Wasn't there an NB already there? Might get confusing...

Posted

NO Michiel..one of them will be human, have human strengths and frailties and not work for the govt.

Posted

Good points! My brain has overheated the past week, I think I've blown my head gasket. Sorry for the OT-posts...

Posted

Blinking Noran Nigel, what a terrible run of bad luck you're having with your fleet.

Not cool.

Posted

Clucking Bell - your becoming the Autoshite "unlucky Alf". Thats crap news-hope its easily sorted to an agreeable outcome.

Posted

What an awful thing to happen :(

At least the guy was insured.

Posted

Oh man, it's never ending shit luck for you! You need to move up here. Nothing much happens up here!

Posted

RIP Fiat. At least the Barkas doesn't look unsaveable, and the Prairie doesn't seem to have sustained too much damage. It's fortunate for twatboy that he didn't hit the Renault first - I don't fancy the chances of a Mk4 Fester against that thing. You'd probably be scrubbing his brains off the bonnet as we speak. Still, like others have said - at least he was insured.

Posted

Blimey, that is rough luck. Like everyone else says, I guess the 2 are probably savable.

You are in Arundel aren't you? Cant believe you get all those problems there. If you were smack bang in the middle of LA, I would expect this kind of crack to keep happening as you do have a fair amount of wronguns there.

Noticed that the kid that did your Datsun was from there. Surprised that they could be bothered going all that way to cause the amount of crap you seem to get.

At least the kid was insured and it looks like getting sorted.

That's awful. A straight road. How can someone crash into the side of a car parked off the public highway whilst driving on a straight road? And the police won't charge him for driving without due care and attention or otherwise. Can a civil action be raised for driving without skill, talent and common sense?

Why don't we have a probation period for new drivers, whereby if you stuff something because you're an oaf you have your provisional back for a period of time?

I really feel for you Nigel, this must be difficult for you.

Posted

Claims Adjuster-6pm. Hasn't got a clue what he's looking at.

Gonna be fun

Posted

New drivers are on probation.Six points in the first two years you lose your license and have to retake a test.Police should have done him for driving without due care and attention at the very least.
