Dyslexic Viking Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Something a little unusual for Norway has appeared for sale. 1939 Morris 8 I like the look of it, but it's probably not as nice to drive and underpowered compared to American cars. https://www.finn.no/mobility/item/371855830?ci=1 bangernomics, eddyramrod, Vantman and 4 others 7

Dyslexic Viking Posted April 21 Posted April 21 And a question, this 1936 British built Ford Tudoor Deluxe is only listed with 10hp, is this really true? If so, this must be miserable. https://www.finn.no/mobility/item/366684019?ci=1 Richard_FM 1

It is stated in the registration information to only have 10hp engine power. Norwegian roads from this time period in this must not have been fun. bangernomics and scdan4 2

It was from a formula created by the Royal Automobile Club for the Government. Because of this formula many British cars had long stroke engines. The Ford engine really produces about 26HP/20KW . garethj, D.E and Dyslexic Viking 3
Dyslexic Viking Posted April 21 Posted April 21 If any of you want a road trip, someone here in Norway has taken in a UK registered 1937 Austin 14/6 only thing is you have to rebuild the engine before starting the trip. https://www.finn.no/mobility/item/399756136?ci=1 De Selby, Shite Ron, D.E and 5 others 8
Six-cylinder Posted April 21 Posted April 21 This is the very car that was my introduction to pre-war cars, a 1932 Invicta S Type with Carbodies open touring body. This car was always raced and I spannered on it. Including engine rebuilds under the supervision of the owner and on race days like changing the spark plugs on the grid a Silverstone. Interestingly in line with reports that pre-war cars are dropping in price these super rare Low Chassis Invicta’s seems to have fallen in value. I seem to remember about 15 years ago them being £600,000 now they seem to be for sale at £300-£400,000. Still beyond my reach unfortunately. Matty, Vantman, lesapandre and 5 others 8

D.E Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Are there any fellow enthusiasts here for the stuff that makes cars from the 30s look modern in comparison? Here's a few highly original ones I saw at Louwman: eddyramrod, LightBulbFun, wuvvum and 3 others 6

A late friend found a steam car engine that would have been London to Brighton eligible if it had still been in its original car. Mike then built a replica around it . High Jetter Posted April 23 Posted April 23 I do like and admire the really early ones. Days of real innovation, often to remain one-offs if the resources to support production weren't available. eddyramrod, D.E, lesapandre and 1 other 2 2

tooSavvy Posted May 5 Posted May 5 TV Guide roaming threw up 'Bangers & Cash', Matthewsons, last night.... It's scary to look [through cold eyes 🫤] at the array of types *selling (4 years welding/lying on cold garage floor... BUT 'full of love' for a project) vs. Chequebook buyers. The 'mildly warm' Austin [no servo/pas] looked a hoot (... the daughter like the 'toot' 🤣) 🚙💨 Matty and lesapandre 2
lesapandre Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 One of the challenges of following 30's cars is working out what's what... You Standard looks lovely never seen one before. Standard. 1934 Lanchester looking similar. I suppose with the tech they had there was only so many ways to design a car body. Angrydicky 1

'Flying' in Standard terms refers to the late-30s streamlined cars with the waterfall grilles, etc. What yu have there is very much a ratite Nine, from about 1934 Six-cylinder, Momentary Lapse Of Reason and lesapandre 1 1 1

lesapandre Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 I think that is a 1937-40 Vauxhall 10. A few made '46-'47 too. Nice house still there? Six-cylinder and wuvvum 1 1
