Parking Wars

We have a car park at our flats, with about 28 spaces for 42 flats. Of course some families have two or even three cars so it can get a bit tight at times but no-one moans unduly. We can park on the street if need be.

What is becoming a problem is because it's private land people have cottoned onto the fact they can dump any old un-MOT'd, un-taxed, uninsured shite there indefinitely with no recourse to get them shifted. The Police aren't interested, parking on someone's land  is a civil matter, ditto the DVLA who will lift dumped cars off a public road but not private property and the council aren't interested unless it's in a dangerous condition. And because Scotland we can't even get them lifted by a private contactor so it's starting to get people's backs up.

Still, every cloud... If anyone in Glasgow wants a safe-ish place to store a car for let's say £25 a month I may know a place... 🤣

What I may or may not have done in the past is not relevant or in any way any kind of advice or suggestion.  But if I was in your hypothetical situation I find that a trolley jack or two can assist with the transition between private and public land.

I live in an apartment, each comes with a designated parking bay, which is clearly numbered. There are also a couple of 'Visitor' spots. Everyone pretty much abides and parks in their own spots. There are three or four flats which have more than one car, and they have found spaces where leaving an extra vehicle won't cause anyone any hinderance.

Recently a young couple moved in, and they have two cars. They 'party' quite a bit, and seem to have no regard for other residents. I think the guy is a car salesmen, as he seems to change his car every other week. He will happily dump his car either in someone else's spot, or across from parked cars so they can't get out of their spaces without Austin Powers levels of manoeuvring. Seems he cannot face parking his vehicle anywhere out of his direct line of sight.

One of the neighbours stuck 'DON'T PARK HERE' on A4 paper across the drivers side of the windscreen using a combo of Duct tape and Brown Parcel tape, but this just seems to have had the opposite effect, as he's leaving his vehicle in more awkward places since.

My old street was a nightmare, as it was designed for horse and carts, and being in a well to do area everyone had two vehicles, so it was a constant battle.  I'm hoping he doesn't choose to block me in/use my space as I've big steel bumpers.
