Unique floorpan, and only available in left hand drive for some engineering reason, if memory serves?

(Could be talking bollocks here)

Nope rhd too.

Was and is - every generation of Panda has had (at least) one! They're all meant to be great at going off road as well.

The original pandas completed all sorts of adventures Inc camel trophy.

VW Golf Mk2 Country.

About 20 years ago I had a holiday in the a French Alps and there were loads of Scenic 4x4s but not many big 4x4s although I suspect the more fashionable resorts are packed with Range Rovers and big German 4x4s in the ski season.

My mate has one. Very capable but why it needs four wheel drive I don't know

I'd love an AX 4x4 - though I think the photographer here may have adjusted the angle for dramatic effect...

The Cavalier's sexier stablemate the awesome Calibra Turbo. This is my old one, it was ludicrously capable off road, never ever even looked like it was going to get stuck and was relentlessly reliable all the way up to 200k when I moved it on. My old MoT tester used to hate me because this dropped big lumps of clay all over his nice antiseptically clean testing bay every time I brought it in.

I think they did a lesser 4x4 version as well, but can't remember whether it was the 8 or 16v model.

MkIV Ford Zephyr 6 - with 4x4 and ABS.

Built as a small batch for police evaluation purposes by Harry Ferguson Research, and using the same set-up that had appeared in the Jensen Interceptor FF from 1966 on.

My father in law had one, he really rated it said nothing on a banger track could keep up with it.

I suppose these were never "supposed" to be 4x4, they just got Steyr-Puch to bodge on some drive to the front wheels for a daft laugh. The front diff is basically the middle half of a 2wd gearbox, missing the bellhousing and all the gears with a custom end bit to take a propshaft.

To support all this, there's a subframe that runs front to rear and conveniently all the front suspension mounts off it, too, giving the thing a slight body lift.

I’ve got one. An E430 4matic. Terrible when it comes to front suspension parts availability, most were sold in the US .IMG_3937.thumb.jpeg.c9bf02e4b91735578a338c18e919676e.jpeg

Not the crazy front springs that W124 has.

It’s a pity w210 can’t stand winter weather, though.
