Facelifts we didn't get in the UK

Does seem a bit of a stupid thing to do though, considering the Mondeo was supposed to be a more or less standard design across the world. Then the American’s decide to remodel it for their market only!

To make it more confusing, the Contour was later facelifted after which it looked almost identical to the European Mondeo Mk II, except for the rear:

I have a 1995 brochure that has this sexy centrefold. Forget the Crown Vic - I want to import a 2 litre manual with pumice cloth interior and optional air con 😃

You are obviously a man of class and distinction with the refined tastes of a connoisseur!  Well done, sir!

Think you have missed the point with those two @hairnet

The bottom one was a model that was available in the UK with several facelifts (and other things too) - probably better placed in the unsucessful facelifts thread 😉

The Indian Punto Evo which seems to have been so well executed* it was restricted to India

I'm surprised the Punto Evo European version hasn't popped up in the unsucessful facelifts thread yet

Nowadays, it's funny to remember that it was the Grande Punto and the mk3 Clio that moved the supermini game on when they were launched together, in late 2005. Has Giugiaro seen this atrocity yet? What the bloody hell have Fiat done to such an attractive and original piece of supermini design? My current nail, an '08-plate Grande Punto 1.3 MultiJet Dynamic is a much better looking car than this. Sure enough, my car is finished in that amazing deep 'New Orleans Blue', but I still think the Grande Punto in original flavour looked good in white, especially as a 3dr Sporting, a trim level that Fiat had sadly long since done away with.

These look interesting. How much brake whores power did the hot ZZ/Z put out?

What an excellent thread idea!

From Wikipedia;

Quote

In 1983, a performance model, named the ZZ/Z (triple zed), was added. The ZZ/Z was always silver, with a body kit consisting of a front bar, wind splitters on top of the guards, a bobtail boot spoiler, alloy wheels, and blue and black ZZ/Z decals. The ZZ/Z was often thought to come with the twin-cam engine that was used in the Isuzu Gemini ZZ/R of the same era, but the ZZ/Z was strictly a cosmetic version and came with the standard running gear of other models. A five-speed manual gearbox was standard, with somewhat altered gearing; an automatic transmission was not available.

In memory of Phil.

I deliberately requested on of those as a hire car in about 2008, bloke at the desk did look at me a little oddly.

It was OK. Underpowered and stripped back.

Don't quote me on this, but according to replies I've had about my 3 door sierra on various threads, Ford didn't do a mk2 in UK. It was a European model only.

5 doors yes but 3 doors no.

When I clapped eyes on that I immediately thought it was some kind of Stormtrooper minibus.

And the 2008 facelift of the Subaru Tribeca after it took them a year to realise that the original was fucking gopping:

Thinking about it, I think all three are candidates for the successful facelift club too.

We definitely got the face lifted Tribeca in the UK as I've driven one!.

I suppose the thing is that they might have had some to sell, weather anyone decided to buy one is a different matter.

Even the non-sports models looked the part:

The VK Commodore would have to be my favourite of the Commodore family, best in wagon form.

Similarly Mark 2 Cavalier was very short lived in two door form but continued long enough to be facelifted in the Opel Ascona version.
