Been an interesting few weeks!

2 roffle wins, the Mk5 Astra was sold straight on, bringing much needed funds for my Kenari, and well , just... life.

The Peugeot 205 will hopefully be collected soon, once I sort the logistics.

Kenari will soon be wearing these wheels..

Speaking of roffle wins - the Mk4 Astra I won ages ago from @flat4alfa (previously owned by @Andyrew) is STILL going strong with it's current custodian.

Received a pic today as they have just fitted a spoiler ... obviously needed help keeping the massive power of the mighty 1.6 ecotec on the road. 🤣

are you ok?

Biker hit my car at speed, he was trying to filter through a merge point.

I'm fine, a few cuts and scratches from the glass and aches. Biker is not so fine, broken arm and was stretchered to hospital.

Biggest issue is I don't have any way of getting to work at the moment...

So insurance have said best I can hope for is 50/50, as I was changing lanes and it was a 'vulnerable road user', they tend to get the leaning their way. Irrelevant the accident happened as he was speeding down a merge point and I'd done everything I should.

And the car is automatically a 'total loss'

Oh and because of that, my 'driving other cars' cover is voided.

So yeah, 9 years no claims down the pan and car becomes a cat D.

Goddammit.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Shit situation.

Do check your insurance T&C's, you may not lose the full 9 years, most providers reduce it but not completely delete it.

I know I'm sticking my neck out here, but so many bikers are crazy filtering so fast when there really isn't enough room and the speed differential is much too great. Seems to me amazing more of them don't have crashes like this.

Glad you're not to bad physically, I hope you're not too shaken up and shame about the li'l car!

I should add it's good the biker isn't too bad either.

Yeah, I've told them they can't take it anywhere

Does the motorcyclist need an eye test?  Its not exactly an inconspicuous colour.

Well, my work have agreed to pay the ULEZ charge on the Peugeot for 2 months so I can sort things 😊

That gives me breathing space!

Off we go, collection time! No surprises here, it's the roffle win Peugeot 205 I'm off to fetch.

Bus to station is on time, but temperature is HOT today. Melting! 🥵

3.5 hours of public transport as we have to go into to London to go south.

Best of luck with the 205 collection!

Proof that roffle participation can be a canny self-insurance scheme to ensure vehicle continuity...

Sorry to hear about the Kenari, that's a real pisser. Hopefully it can be repaired.

Well that was fun...

On train from Essex to London and it felt like something caught under the train like a bit of cable or something, banging and bumping right underneath where we were sitting.

It honesty felt like the train would derail or something.

Loads of passengers moved and went up the carriage, but just after they did, whatever had caught must have come off as the banging stopped.

Home now, long trip, especially as a delay at the maccys at Clackett Lane meant an hour spent there. 😳

Drives lovely, and thought I'd complete the 'nan spec' by adorning the parcel shelf with backdated W.I. magazines 😅

Was it a motorcyclist?  Too soon?

Great car looks lovely.

Sorry for your troubles but glad you’re back on the road. Clackett Lane McD’s has always been the slowest I’ve ever encountered, anywhere in the UK.

It was a pleasure to meet you both yesterday, and I’m really glad to see the little 205 got you home safely! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it sees you through your current car troubles. It is such a little survivor car, I’m absolutely smitten with 205s now.
