I appreciate that I'm probably the only person on earth who thinks this, but back when either car was a more common sight on the roads, I would always wonder if the headlights of the Octavia coming towards me were actually on a Rover 800.

And whilst he was at it. The Triumph 1300 was a mini mk1 2000, that's fair enough, it's common for car makers to use a similar design across the range.

Not quite. Ford held 33% of Mazda shares in the 90s and effectively had control. However between 2008 and 2015 they gradually sold their shares and now have no interest in the company.
