I think the main reason I sold my Scimitar (12 bloody years ago!) was the obvious reason...

Ah yes, the inevitable royal connection.

I had to sell a Fiat Uno with a dented front wing for the same reason.

Oh?  What was that...?

😁

Apparently some royal might have once had one. No idea who as I've never heard such a story.

Christ ya wanna try owning a DeLorean, every single twat that comes along drops some kind of back to the future quip, but what’s more depressing is they all think they are the very first in the entire world to mention it.

It looks like I failed to get booked into Rustival. Last Friday 12 Jan I booked an annual ticket with Gaydon. As soon as I booked I clicked on the link for Rustival and thought I had booked in the Mitsubishi Sigma but have never received any conformation. I have got my annual entry email pass, but not Rustival. I have messaged Rustival but have never received a reply.

.

I don’t fancy general parking because that can be quite a walk.

Have you checked your junk email? My email from rustival went there but my email from Gaydon went to my inbox.

I booked after you but got in, so if you filled out the Google form you should have got in as it was first come first served.

Panic over.

I have now received an email to confirm I am one of the 350 in the Mitsubishi Sigma at Rustival.

Good stuff! Sorry for the delay. As you can imagine, it's been a bit hectic. Someone has gone through every single application.

As it happens, the museum is letting us have more space so the 350 is one section and then the overflow will, I suspect, be just as interesting and diverse again.

Have they all been processed? I booked in reasonably early but still haven't had an email.

I'm pleased this has been such a success (at least with the uptake).

I would like to go but don't really like the Sierra being front and centre.  It's a car, not a showpiece, and thus happier with it being in the car park out of the way where people can unluckily happen across it.

Will there be visitor tix etc?

They were selling normal (ie none show your car) tickets as well, which I have bought as I will most likely be in a not very interesting for another 20 years at least Honda Accord.

The Sierra would be very welcome. This isn't your typical show, so cars don't have to be a certain age, or a certain standard.

But, no reason why you can't choose one of our discounted tickets and ask to park in the main car park.

would you award for a bangerfest? Shittest car? Least shit car? Most bodges implemented to barely scrape an MOT? The Piers Corbyn award for best in show Cavalier?

3rd prize

Most advisories with a pass

2nd prize

Most advisories with a minor fail

1st prize

Most advisories with a dangerous fail, bonus prize if you drove it home then decided as it was old enough it  didn't need a MOT anyway

I was thinking of booking a ticket for this, but do you need to commit to a specific car when you buy a ticket? As per usual its going to come down to which of them is working the day before!

Yes, because we're trying to get an idea of the cars there ahead of the show, though you can change the vehicle by emailing - preferably at least a few days ahead.

Maybe it's like the ferries - you book the ticket expecting to use one car, then turn up in something entirely different because the first one wouldn't start/you sold it/the rust pixies ate it.

for those of you who booked an exhibitor ticket you need to fill out a Form on the Rustival website to register your car or you may not get in the display car parks.. Unless I missed something its possible to buy a ticket without knowing this step is required as its not on the British museum ticket website or on the ticket itself.

It's looking increasingly likely I'll be taking the modern, so I might well forego filling out the form and park in visitor parking.

Bit of an issue with that. The museum is expecting anyone with an exhibitor ticket to be parking in the show (only found this out ourselves yesterday during a site visit).

We have zero problems with moderns in the show. All wheels are welcome!

Just put a Q&A video up on the channel and we've got lots of info at rustival.co.uk - we'll be sold out of exhibitor spots very soon!

I see, thanks for clarifying. That being the case, would there be any way to change my ticket type from exhibitor to visitor? Could I cancel my exhibitor ticket and re-purchase a visitor one?

I do love the all-inclusive policy you have, but my own personal feeling is that if I can't get one of my shite cars there, I'd much rather my exhibitor space went to something a bit more interesting than a 2020 SEAT Arona.

I think the museum can take an additional fiver on the day to change your booking but please don't worry about the car being a 2020. We've got more modern than that coming. It fits the open vibe.
