DD12SWL was first registered to Arriva North East in 2012 under the governments "ganning doon the Olympics" program which offered a discount on new buses for provincial operators, in exchange for allowing them to be used for the Olympics before taking delivery.

As such, the bus had a unique layout with 57 seated, zero disabled spaces and a golden throne and strongbox for Olympic officials and the accompanying medals.

Sadly, the Olympic equipment was removed when the bus was transferred to Gloucestershire county council under a prisoner exchange program in 2017.
