Has all the options ticked too. Nice spec. Small amount of rust in nearside front inner wing which I’m taking to be sorted out tomorrow. A/c works but needs REGAS M9.

stopped at Leicester forest services for a munch.

I hope that's a munch for you, not the Land Rover having munched through a £100 of diesel already.

IIRC they have a  huge 95 litre tank, first over £100 fill for me still hangs in the memory.

Nope. We had another burger queen to feed the stomach.

got back to it and noticed a pool. OMGSCRAPIT. No, just water off the aircon. Still needs a regas m9 but at least it works.

made it home safe and sound. 160 miles completed ✔️. Used just under 1/4 of a tank of derv. Happy with that.

box of spares in the back, anyone want a rear wiper? Guy must have had a “thing” for rear blades.

It had just over 1/4 of a tank too! I’ve not missed those days!

Holy fuck! It's always a hoot when public transport is the most reliable mode in a collection thread🤣

1 hr 30 mins to get from stoke station to Euston. And it cost £6 with “mates rates”. Wasnt worth taking the car. Saved a fortune! Had to sit next to a Spanish lady on the way down. Shame that. We found the CD changer has 5 “how to get your pilots licence” and 1 “learn to speak Spanish” cd in it. Too late!

Buenos Noche!

Top collection.  Like that, sorry you lost your egg in the Gala pie though, I'd have been raging.

The whole of London knew I was raging. Shame. I have spare gala pie for tomorrow 🤣 so ALL IS NOT LOST!

Sales of Gala Pie go through the roof nationwide

My work here has been successful.

1 less 12.50 a day to the khunt in charge of London, and an increase in gala pie sales. Beautiful!

first job today, the discovery is going into my mates garage for welding. Getting it done now before winter sets in.

Poundland were selling these for a while.
I wonder if he thought he'd offer them to his other Disco mates, but they'd already ditched their ULEZ scrappers.

If that has a proper gearbox it'll almost compensate for the Fuel Of Satan.

Shift-o-Matic 9000 👌

today, it’s been dropped off for inner wing and bulkhead welding. Probably get it back next week.

Yay! Great news! I have been waiting 4 years for the Merlin roffle, the acquisition of a Disco 2 has brought that day much closer! :-)

Nice buy, a good D2 is wonderful, a bad one will drive you to insanity, which is the only driving it will do! Best of luck with it. Think I have 2 brand new in the box chinesium indicators left over if you need or want them.

(edit) And true to form, both halves of egg fell out the moment I picked the slices up.

Top man!

yes, the egg part fell out just outside Euston station near the bike racks. Was gutted. At least the southern pigeons will have been grateful

Top off poo if you're a true connoisseur

The real experience is the cold, naked and damp one when it hits mid-shower, and you have to shuffle out and across to the loo.

  • sutty2006 changed the title to Many reasons NOT to buy a discovery 2. Testing my patience already.

So, i knew buying one of these would piss me off.

5x rear wiper blades supplied with this heap. 5x rear wiper blades all wrong. They don’t fit. The Bosch ones are completely wrong fitting and size. The 2x unknown ones I’ve managed to file the top edge down so it will just about clip in.

IMG_7854.thumb.jpeg.510a7fbb90eceda7ca42621661e83650.jpeg

the interior lights don’t work. Massive no no. Must sort that out. I got the front working by messing with the bulb. Dodgy contact? Well, it stopped working again today. So I dive in.

IMG_7856.thumb.jpeg.ca6cf4b728e104415e4e6627f564e5ff.jpeg

it’s a funny set up. It’s got a plug with two wires, but the earth runs through that right hand 8mm nut.

IMG_7857.thumb.jpeg.73e33270bf38e18301b69458b490b0dc.jpeg

we have 12v, no problem. We just don’t have earth.

IMG_7858.thumb.jpeg.dd1f3895f947c143873e4031668d9c55.jpeg

the earth runs through the bolt hole on the left, and the 3x contacts it’s the left most brass looking nodger. The switch has a brass wotsit inside that scooches along between each post. I cleaned all of those up. Making sure clean contacts. And I also stretched the spring inside a little to help push the wotsit onto the nodger. STILL DOESNT WORK. Fuck you landrover.

anyway. The more I dig, the wetter I get, and the more confused I get.

interior light sits on a metal base. Which I’ve removed.

it looks like it should have an earth lead plugged into it. But I can’t find anything? Why? Wtf is going on?
