Keymaster Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Madeira is great. Is there a fella still doing mk1 panda 4x4 tours there? If he is I don't see what choice you have but to do it! Sunny Jim 1
Dyslexic Viking Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I'm buried in snow and I'm freezing my balls off. Not envious at all. Low Horatio gearbox, Matty, MantaGTE85 and 9 others 6 6
mat_the_cat Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I was going to say that you're holding the camera remarkably steadily, but... 40 minutes ago, Sunny Jim said: ...still got sea legs? Sunny Jim 1
Sunny Jim Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 He was going at a fair lick (for a Panda!) @mat_the_cat but I am still swaying. I'm on Porto Santo at the moment @Keymaster but we're hopefully heading to the main island next so I'll check out the Panda tours though the opportunity to hire a Renault Twizy is also tempting! mat_the_cat, Keymaster, auntiemaryscanary and 1 other 4

Wooden load tray pick ups are a common sight here. Check out the kwalitee roof repair on this. Mitsubishis seem popular (as is lacquer peel). @JMotorfuck your Mitsubishis I've got a horse outside. Some local shiters obviously do their own bodywork repairs. Given the saline maritime environment I'm surprised this hadn't dissolved along time ago. This place truly is an island paradise. Even the buses are shite. Dyslexic Viking, The Old Bloke Next Door, Dick Cheeseburger and 22 others 22 1 2
JMotor Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Laugh for the song line. Love the chod spots! Ooffftttt I'll hae the Corsa A too in all! Sunny Jim 1
MantaGTE85 Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 I'm trying to think what car those alloys belonged to before ending up on that Corsa A? They're not GM ones that I recognise. It's a nice find though.
AnnoyingPentium Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Thanks for the cake... I'm hungry now. 😂 Sunny Jim 1

Sunny Jim Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 Today the weather here was a bit like a Welsh summer's day: windy, cloudy and occasionally drizzly so I headed out to scramble up some peaks. And then descended in search of chod and cake. juular, Low Horatio gearbox, mat_the_cat and 15 others 18
Sunny Jim Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 The Corsas seem popular so here's some more. Peugeot and a palm. Today's lacquer peel award. I liked this Colt but the dog didn't seem too impressed. This dog was friendlier though I'm not sure what the jeep is. This Seicento was a honey and today's cake wasn't bad either. Sunny Jim Posted January 21, 2023 Author Posted January 21, 2023 Rainbows and Volcanoes on the sail from Santo Porto to Madeira today. Rustybullethole, coachie, loserone and 21 others 24
juular Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Madeira is ace. More updates please! Sunny Jim 1
Sunny Jim Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 The anchorage we found on arriving in Madeira turned out to be somewhat exposed to a building swell which led to a restless night with us being tossed relentlessly. So we sought refuge in the marina at Funchal. At night in a swanky bar surrounded by seamen where I got some cock down my throat led to relief and a sound night's sleep. Went to explore the city this morning. Not much in the way of chod to be seen but I did spot @loserone's Maderian cousin outside a building shite. More from your intrepid correspondent soon. High Jetter Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 They do have their own...distinct...way of building over there! Sunny Jim 1
Sunny Jim Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 An journey into the gifferzone today with an excursion to the botanical gardens. Think slip-on sketchers and 'travel trousers' with elasticated waists... My mate is a keen gardener and although it wasn't really my cup of tea to be fair to him he's started playing a game, 'What shit car will Jim stop to photograph next'. So, today's spots and some flowers. No idea but looks safe* Talking of safety... Toyota pick up with all mod cons Honda Accord Coupe It doesn't rain that much here but it's still necessary to tape up the sunroof on a Golf. Sunny Jim Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 Classics Corner. These two were parked together and appeared to be in regular use. Peugeot 504 And my favourite spot of the day, Datsun 200. Dacia Lodgy taxi Bird of Paradise Erm, not sure. Used Johnny Tree? Considering how shonky much of the local construction work appears the Madeirans know how to build a fly-over. MiniMinorMk3, Jim Bell, LightBulbFun and 14 others 17
Sunny Jim Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 Teenage mutant A common sight the world over, Merc as taxi. And not so common sights, rust-free 2 door Classic and Omega Turbo juular, LightBulbFun, Rustybullethole and 14 others 17
Sunny Jim Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 The climate does seem to be kind to 4x4s that would rust at home. Suzuki Vitara. Ideal for the local twisties, Seicento Sport. Though I'd pick this GT Turbo over the Fiat. Almost as ubiquitous as the Merc taxi, a fucking pan pipe band. Yes, they were playing Simon and bleedin' Garfunkel! Tchau for now, your Man In Madeira signing off for today. Datsuncog, DSdriver, RoadworkUK and 14 others 17

Sunny Jim Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 Today I got on a bus to the other side of the island to go and see Santana. How would I know, why should I care? Please don't bother trying to find her She's not there Here she is, she was hiding in the garage. Lancia returning to the earth from whence it came. What a peach, ironically locally it's a Quattro. Fiat pick up. Not sure about the wheels on this, are they correct but the wrong colour? I'll get me goat. Time for the bus back to Funchal. LightBulbFun, Datsuncog, oxb1l and 9 others 12
motorpunk Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 I'm in Leicester on a Teams call about budget synergies. My boiler is bust. I hope your knob falls off. (Great pics ) Stanky, Crackers, Datsuncog and 2 others 1 4
