Is that from a show called 240 Robert?

According to the interwebs favourite encyclopedia they used Ford Broncos in 240-Pobert.

I imagine all the Crown Vics had been retired now, they were last built in 2010.

Mind you, that sheriff’s Impala looks quite old, that body style was replaced around 2013 IIRC.

Generally Sheriffs’ departments seem to keep cars for longer than others, maybe because they are mainly used as ‘personal transport’.  I imagine city patrol cars get worn out the quickest.

Yes, but you can’t see him, he’s behind the 2nd window up bent double laughing at the Police buying a Proton.

It depends on department funding though,. In rural, poor areas I think you're right but in Houston the HPD cars were all knackered whereas the Harris County sheriffs cars were new and they had fancy shadow marked Camaros and all sorts.

Good thing Jonathan Creek didn't live in Hull, where the police had a whole fleet of Protons. He'd have pissed himself laughing every time they turned up and never been able to explain who committed the crime.

Family legend says this was Warwickshire Constabulary once upon a time, well before my Granddad bought it and rebuilt it with his Dad in probably the late 50s/early 60s.......

On the subject of long lasting Focus diesel estates, Gloucestershire Police have just unearthed a 60 plate example, currently panda-ing around near me.

There were still a few roaming about in San Francisco, LA and Mojave when I was there earlier this year.

Ha ha, it's actually the remains of the windmill on Hessle foreshore. The local plod were well known for their fleet of Protons as discussed...

I am a bit (possibly wrongly) surprised by this.....

mini.thumb.JPG.5f130623ad4c658a2895d269c28fcf8e.JPG

Going to auction soon as ex-merseyside police https://www.classiccarauctions.co.uk/1966-austin-mini-cooper-s-mk-1-recc31708-1-warwick-0923?pn=1&el=5989&pp=100

I've seen police mini vans, and panda cars from 'normal' minis, but not a Cooper S before for the police - They seem too small to be of use for any high speed work, I would have thought Zephyrs/Cresta etc more use for that, but surely they wouldnt have gone full Cooper S for a Panda?

EDIT TO ADD - I am not doubting that they did have Cooper S police cars, just a new one on me!

Just goes to show what I know then - looks like Liverpool/Merseyside were really well known for it too according to that!

One of those funny random gaps in car knowledge - every day is a school day 😀

A rare moment of MerPol buying a halo glamour car. Mind you, over here in 0151 plod did used to run MK2 RS2000s as at one time the fast Escort was getting stolen in quantity so they needed to even the score. These were replaced with XR3/3is. This was about it as far as MerPol went insofar as sexy motors, they never tried to compete with GMP with their Capris and Lotus Sunbeams.

MerPol even clung onto 2.9 12v Mk3 Granada's well beyond their sell by date but when they were finally replaced traffic splashed out on a fleet of 24 Senators which given a long enough stretch of motorway could catch a CBR600 ridden flat out in 6th.
