A: Hi yes four door and hatchback."

Clear as mud.

Didn't want to hijack the coach saving thread, so I thought I'd pop this in here...

Hmmm. Any more Welsh coach operators clearing out their fleets?!

Was wondering that too. I might/might not be able to drive a coach on my license, but I can drive a low loader artic...

Talbot Samba Style on Gumtree for £300 - not sure about the "go faster" stripes though

Talbot Sunbeam in not Lotus replica shocker!! Not for much longer I doubt or is £1,695 enough to ensure its survival as it is?

In fact, does anyone no of any original "bread and butter" Sunbeams around, I bet there are hardly any?

Were they ever sold abroad?

Looks like a bargain - worth a trip to the UK for Lukas perhaps? 50k mile Camry GLi with MOT for £295

It's probably less blurred than this in reality.

Tidy looking thing, sensibly priced.

[super-pedant]I think you mean "avec", as 'con' is spanish ('sans' being french)[/super-pedant]

Anyways, I'd give it room in my garage. If I had one. A garage, that is...

Likewise. There goes my "basic knowedge of the French language" self esteem...

'This old retro classic is far to good to send to the scrap yard. We have removed this low milage 1300cc engine and gearbox to sell on ebay for the mini restoration projects a fantastic little powerfull engine'

Brilliant, now I'm just going to cut the roof, engine and rear end off my Granada, sell them to a banger racer and then flog the remains stating 'far too good to scrap'.

Posted

It's not the engine removal of Mini owners/traders that really gets on my tits, but the attitude that they're doing someone a favour by selling the rest after the engine's been taken out:

i am looking for a customer who is needing a Austin Allegro either for a project, or parts for restoration for there own Allegro,This old retro classic is far to good to send to the scrap yard

We have removed this low milage 1300cc engine and gearbox to sell on ebay for the mini restoration projects a fantastic little powerfull engine

Fill you boots sunshine, I can see you having no difficulty in finding someone with an Allegro with a good engine but a knackered body who wants to help you make a tidy profit on your enterprise. I also have no doubt that your over-inflated sense of self-importance will allow you to sleep smugly at night.

How much is a decent 1275 engine and box worth? My mums penniless elderly neighbour has a late-ish Metro advantage that she pranged years ago, maybe I could turn it into some dollars for her somehow.

Posted

Advantage engine? That'll be an unleaded engine too - so probably £250-£500 depending on how well you word your advert, (or, like the onanist selling the engine-less Allegro, how much Brasso you use on your neck ...!:lol: ).

I was told that any Allegro, Metro or ADO16 which sells for under £450 (IIRC) is likely to be sold to a Mini Owner. When I was looking for one for my first Allegro a runner was selling for £400 - £500 and even one which needed work was selling for £150 - £200 ish.

Probably shouldn't have as it is none of my business but I have just messaged the vendor of that Allegro complaining about his destruction of a perfectly usable classic car. Still I feel mildly better for it!!

Oh yes....

To be fair, although this one is boggo, it's the only one that is, out of at least half a dozen in Andreas's yard! All the others are or have been rally cars, which could still be this one's fate too, as it's a 1600. AFAIK every one of them has been in Cyprus from new.

À mon avis: achetez-la, elle est magnifique!

On second thought: the drivers door opens veeery wide, does that mean trouble?

I had a 79 Sunbeam 1.0 LS for a couple of years in 2002-2004, and never saw another non-Lotus Sunbeam on the road during that time (or since). Alas I sold mine to re-shell a Lotus when the clutch packed in along with a very crusty 1.6 I'd been using as a spares vehicle. The 1.6 was the same same colour as the one above, 'sweetcorn' I believe. The only other Sunbeam I encountered at that time was a soon-to-be-crushed mk2 in my favourite breakers yard in Hedingham.

I’ve seen this model go MOT’d and taxed for between £650 and £2500. The garage where it was serviced said the condition was near imacculate. I think £950 is a fair price, plus it has recently had the above done. There is near zero body rust and the engine is clean.

Good job the seating material is flame proof as I believe the seller's pants are on fire.

Maybe he should have painted over the over-spray before making such claims
