So the dodge is gone now, I swapped it for so to completely diffrent! My new passat:

My first modified car. It was a 1.8, but at some point someone has fitted a vr6 in it! Sounds and goes great, a very cool change. Also has a set of Mx5 alloys thay suit it better then I thought they might.

Always fancied a b3 or a B4 passat but they are always hanging. This one Is in great shape, the interior looks very nice. I think it's all been retrimmed.

Already gotten busy messing with some little bits that require improvement, found a new old stock side trim to replace one that looked bad.

That is awesome! I had German import left hooker B3 VR6 wagon. Loved that car but the auto box just sucked power out of it and ultimately I got pissed off with it and sold the car. Still regret it to this day, and I'd love another but like you say most of them are frilly at best.

The ride height and wheels work really well too. Enjoy!

B3 Passats were once absolutely everywhere in Brussels. A bit like how in the UK the XJ40 is referred to as the "Pub Landlords" choice of transport, the B3 Passat, particularly in estate form was known as the "Moroccan butchers" car.

Picked up a cheap 2000 GS300. It's petty rough but I've fancied one of these. Drives alright though, it only has 125k ish. Paint and inteiror is totally shot though!

I approve, the mileage shouldn't mean all that much outside of cosmetics.

My only big issue is the hand brake light remains illuminated after the handbrake is reliased. The brake level sensor is working as it should, as well as the handbrake (or footbrake on this case) work. Maybe you know some good resources to figure out what other issue could cause it.

Other then that the headlight adjusent, cd changer, central locking and a few small bits are broken! But I can figure those out with time!

The handbrake light turned out to be 4 out of the 5 brake lights (the centre one) being blown. It now works at it should. Now that light is out the cruise control works too.

Now onto the bad news, the paint is pretty bad, every time you get water on it more cames off:

I've decided to go full ricebox weeb spec on it. I've had some stickers lieing around and I think this is the most appropriate car to stick them on.

Just know it pained me to do this, I'm not really sure why I did.

Not really sure how I'm going to build the courage to take it In for a mot now!

The Ralliart sticker is a tad controversial on a posh Toyota. It’s the equivalent of a TRD sticker on a Mitsubishi!

I was told by my freind, I'm wondering if I will be told by anyone else on the street.

As per the sales thread I've pulled the engine from the gs now!

Ma9tLpl.jpeg

Thankfully a few other parts were saved, somebody came from Scotland for the complete exhuast. The headlights and Anti-roll bars sold. And I gave away the floor matts, but sadly there is not a lot of demand for car parts on these once you've pulled the engine.

Its awaiting a complete rebuild now then hopefully a donor car. I've sourced a BMW gearbox to pair it with, I'm, not looking forward too buying thr adapter kit for it.

These engines look pretty clean and dry when they have their manifolds and pipes all around them, but once you remove all the stuff that goes around them it shows how leaky they are.

As a side note if anyone ever does this, always crack the flywheel bolt free before you pull the engine. It's so extremely hard to do on the engine stand!

I got a 250D as a stop gap!

bdhjJSr.jpeg

Its slow but only cost £55 a year to insure, I will stick some more details up later but it's slow and plush. Has a nice interior!

Nice! Diamant Blau IIRC. looks like its lost its cloth interior and gained some chrome arches since this pic was taken.  Has it got a sunroof? relatively unusual on a uk car if not.

It has a sunroof! Looks better then, Where and when was that!

It lost its ginger rear lights and went too smoked ones for that photo, and since then they have been changed out for clear ones.

Duuuude. That looks amazing. If it does end up being a stop gap car, do think of me when you come to move it on.

I see your formally grey floor mats have turned mint green as well, just like in my W140. Looks good though!

Wonder if the grey leather interior was from one of the Indian built w124's imported into the UK in the late 90's? A lot of them had them iirc. A very nice stop gap car.

Posted

I parked next to one of those Indian ones yesterday, I think it was registered as a 1996, I'm pretty sure all the Indian ones are four banger petrol or the om605. I think they are all manuals though.

I Tore into the engine bay today, cleaned off all the oil underneath it but could only find a major diesel leak from cylinder 5's injector. Took the front of it all apart and found the waterpump is not in great shape, so like that. It's already in bits awaiting glow plugs, and Injector and probably more bits. There is a flywheel inspection bung and I was pleased to see no oil on the flywheel! Saved me some hassle there.

Thankfully I've removed the tint alresdy, it does not pair well with the powder blue look.

Great progress! Agreed on the tint- w124s with clear clusters and tints make me think of chase scenes in TAKEN.

Posted

As cringe as the rear limo tint may be, keeping it on the rear screen only will help the next time you have an Audi Qcunt or some other modern SUV with poorly adjusted LED headlights behind you. My 180SX has it and it's very useful in that respect.

I'm glad you asked, cause otherwise I'd have had to.

Might be worth doing the injection pump fuel delivery seals while you in there. They are a  common source of diesel leaks on om602's, particularily if you plan to use veg oil. Main dealers stock the seals and washers for not a lot.

Agree on the crush washers, but don't use OEM O-rings.. they are EPDM and not overly tolerant of veg.  Viton ones are available from various suppliers for pence and are far more resiliant.

Also, you do need a special tool (essential!) to do delivery valve seals.  Like this:

About £20 off the bay of snot.

@Talbot @Nullzwei a lot of good information, for now I've just ordered a single rebuild Injector just to get it running without a diesel leak. Then see how I get on from there.

I think it was leaking diesel, it was running down the side of the extremely dirty block and becoming covered in carbon then by the time it got to the floor I thought it was oil. Or I just have diesel and oil leaks, just need to get it all cleaned up as best as I can before I can tell.

Got any underbonnet shots?  Can work out if it's an OM602 or an OM605.
