Cant think of any other explanation of how they got all of that so wrong, about it being an S Reg ex-press car, 1 out of 380 etc 🤔

Either way, the sill repair sections look poorly done and all the jacking pads are missing, generally looks rough. 

Yeah that's what I later realized, don't know where they got all the info about it being an S reg as it's clearly just a 2001 🤔

Also; this hole shouldn't be there right? Though hard to tell given the angle

No holes in that sill, they're meant to be like that.

It's had a very badly fitted repair section though. Rear sections are made by Tom Hobbs and they're not cheap at £115 a pair. Cheap shit full sills are available but I've seen those fitted and they're miles off at the back. Seems a shame to then go and weld them in so carelessly. Look at the gap between the jacking pad hole and the brace underneath. That's how water gets in in the first place.

Here's the same repair panels being fitted by  @GingerNuttz, you can see how it's meant to look.

I had clearly just let my excitement get the better of me when I initially thought the sills were ok! I see what you're saying. 

That section I circled just initially looked a bit unnatural to me given how close up it was, but it now makes perfect sense to me seeing yours from a bit further away.

That's a great repair you've had done there, I'm impressed!

My black Saab 93 is going to him for some sill repairs at the end of next month too.

I'm really intrigued by that so-called S reg example. To me, the colour doesn't look like one that was in the launch range but I could be wrong. There's an outside chance it was never registered by Rover, used for display and only went on the road in 2001. I'd be interested to hear about it anyway.

Ok I had this with my s reg 75. Mine was like this registered in 2001 but wore an s plate. 

Mine had some history going to Spain then coming back into the UK getting registered on date it originally got registered. Mine is long gone now but I think that one had the same story as mine. 

Ask to look at the vin. Should have 2 zeros which means pre launch

Interestingly enough, on a recent trip home to Scotland, I saw very little in terms of older cars. However, of those, 75’s seemed to make up a disproportionate amount!

There's two in the village here. One 04 reg in black and an 05 in metallic beige or whatever its called. I passed a lovely 51-reg maroon 75 Tourer that was parked in Largs too. :)

This may be a bit sad, but the only way I would consider parting with the beetle cabriolet of this forum is if a nice 75 came along. It would have to be badermatic tho. I drove Audrey for a few days and loved her, felt at home,relaxed as she wafted along...

I've never seen another black facelift saloon since getting mine, interesting! They do suit it.

Good looking cars in facelift guise. At first when I saw it I thought it was yours (didn't know your reg) but that wouldn't have made much sense for you to be going between Patna and Dalmellington. 😂

I haven't got a photo of the beige one yet but will try to remember and snap one when out my morning walk.

Maybe the SVM have a rival family trying to get in on their turf.

I forgot to post pictures of a Rover meet I went to a few weeks ago at Dundee Museum of Transport. It was an excellent day and great to be able to chat to other 75 owners about our cars and also good to catch up with @Tam.

Note the presence of a 99 launch car. I really liked this one.

Having recently achieved another year’s MOT (not without event), thought today was a nice day to treat the 75 to some Lanoguard on its underside. Still looking pretty decent under there.

Auto box question…

If I pull the lever back to position 2 when I am moving, it will drop down to second and stay there. If I select position 2 when stationary, it appears to start in 1st and not change up until I move the selector to 3, 4 or D. Is this what it's supposed to do? Bizarre.

I have no idea as I have never manually selected the gears on mine.

Are you 100% sure it isn't starting in 2nd or changing to 2nd and you haven't noticed?

Next time I'm out in mine I'll try it and see what happens.

No, it totally revs its tits off at little more than walking pace. I suspect that if I redline it, it will change up. Perhaps it's in case I ever want to accelerate like a total arsehole! In other exciting news, clicking the winter button at the same time makes it drive everywhere in second...

Is the gearbox controlled by a mechanical cable and is there a “1” position also?

I ask because it sounds to me like normal operation should be that the numbers should just be there to select the limit of the highest gear but always start in 1st. It sounds like yours might be going to “1” accidentally when you select “2”. If true then a little cable adjustment could be in order or maybe an inspection of the gearbox mounts as maybe the gearbox is physically moving itself about relative to the fixed selector cable.

Are you doing doing this when the engine is cold?

When going up a hill, mine stays in second for absolutely ages unless you toe it. I think its something to do with warming the engine up more quickly. When it's warm it changes up from 2nd to 3rd up a hill at much lower revs.  Very annoying but I think its a feature.
