GRUMP OF THE DAY: The pedantic and the smug.

If I want to use "Iil" instead of "little" I fucking well will.

On such a diverse forum where the literate, semi literate and the downright thick rub shoulders, its hardly anything to get your knickers in a twist about, is it.

Now fuck off and whinge about something important.

Thank you.

Gosh, is everyone on here grumpy today? I just found out that a close friend died last Thursday. He was 61. He and his wife sold everything they owned to move to a Greek island and live the dream. He lived the dream for less than three years and died of a massive heart attack. His wife is shattered. As are his friends.

A wake up call! Stop whining about stuff that doesn't matter?

Maybe.

No smilies or American speak here.

You know a forum is struggling when you get a page of the regulars bickering over each others fucking grammar! 0.2/10

Audi drivers living up to the traditional stereotype -

Coming up the M6 this evening a newish A4 / A5 in white joins the motorway and obviously pulls straight into the third lane. Then proceeds to do a bit of tailgating, a bit of undertaking using both of the other two lanes and generally driving like a cock. Nothing new or surprising there.

But what I wonder is this - is there something in the DNA of newish Audi drivers that makes them like this or does it just happen when they get behind the wheel.

And do they at anytime whilst driving like a knobgargler think to themselves 'Hang on, what am I doing, I really do drive like a dick'

Seemingly not.

Is it just me or is the Autoshite facebook page getting a little over bearing lately?.

I was wondering if someone else was going to mention this, I noticed a distinct change in 'ambience' over the last couple of weeks too. :(

Just turn off notifications and job's a good un. I don't mind them, as it breaks the monotony of Greek politics posts which clutter my newsfeed.

Sorry if it's me causing it.

Anyway, tomorrow is the funeral for the father of WTC_BIRD. I've just tallied up that out of my last four wives/girlfriends I've had to cope with the deaths of one or more of the parents of three of the aforementioned ladies. I should be getting used to it by now. By shocking coincidence I've owned a black car every time.

It's not you mate. Hope tomorrow goes as well as a funeral can for you.

I don't always know who's who over there because most people use their real names but I don't think the problems are down to any of the regulars on here, there seems to be a few Pistonheads types joining up who just don't seem to be on the same wavelength.

Luckily one of the few plus points of Facebook is a really useful one click 'ignore/fuck off' button which totally removes another individual's lifestyle and opinions from view, as I discovered the other day.

I'm as guilty (If not more) as the next man for posting shite on there but it does make me laugh and it does have it uses.

I've just left the group, Had enough now.

Thank Christ, thought it was just me. Not leaving, just not posting on it much any more. It fills up too quickly with pointless crap that was never interesting or special in the first place. I don't want to look at a fucked Corsa or Metro - BORING! If that's what being an Autoshitiest is, I'm not one. I'm not an inverted snob.

Also, there's a couple of PH mongs that are really battering my swede.

I can't get Firefox to update, in other news. The extensions are whinging about being vulnerable and the updates won't install without McCuntingAfee [even if the check box is turned off] so that can fuck off too - it won't play anything in YouTube. It won't display Facebook either, although in many ways that's a blessed relief.

I've been through all of them now, stuck with IE8, the only bloody browser that will log on to Autoshite. At the moment I have the choice of my Dell, which is chronically slow and basically falling to pieces [the CD drive hasn't worked for about 18 months], the machine SCTSH_ANDY built which is so dementedly stressed it falls over and refuses to boot if you dare install a program on it [he's rebuilt it 3 times], and my netbook, which is even slower, is gradually getting fucked up the arsehole by Chrome and has fallen to pieces.

Basically, computers are shit and I can't be arsed with them.

I too am experiencing computer woe. I don't have a bang up to date machine, but neither is it a megalithic relic and yet I struggle to get even the most basic games to work on it, have issues with iPlayer and Youtube and generally browsing the internet outside of regular haunts like Autoshite is a ballache. Before it melted its own motherboard for no good reason (or any reason at all, for that matter) and had to be rebuilt with scavenged parts this machine has been nothing but mediocre at best. Disappointing.

The XM bleeped low coolant at me when I was pulling into the office car park. Temp didn't shoot up, or indeed move at all but worrying all the same. Left it for now, as I wasn't about to open the expansion cap after driving to work! Hopefully it's a borked sensor or similar.

Sam

have you disturbed something when fitting the thermostat.

I Know my white XM diesel was losing water from a split small bore rubber hose which went into the engine under the inlet manifold.

Possibly, will check the level at lunch, then do some fault finding tonight (read squeeze everything until I get wet! Did 300 lovely miles this weekend without a hitch, so can't see it being anything life threatening.

Have you tried Iceweasel (forked from FF, less bloat and dependencies but uses the same extensions & add-ons) - Arora and Midori are fairly good too, although might not like Java/Flash without a few tweaks. Also, Iron's a decent alternative to Chrome (I don't use either as I hate the interface).

If you're desperate for a reliable PC or lappy, there's a place near me that does ex-corporate refurbed ones for not much money. I'm still running a 7- or 8-yr old ex-college desktop from them, it's bombproof. Worth seeing if there's a similar establishment near you.

1.All the best, 155. She will be fine.

2.Tar for the PC refurbishment tips MrDuke - so long as the Dell holds out long enough to get this coursework, I'll worry about it shitting itself after everything's handed in. It might give me a break from the bollocks-snaps-on-a-King-Edward-look-a-fucked-Corsa Facebook group, eh?

..........On the subject of that Facebook group, can I take back what I said and just suggest it's complete and outright bollocks? Yes!

3. I'm not using Photobucket in the future, either. Why they've chosen to make it into a half-arsed social networking site is utterly beyond me. Yes, you can still make the photos [NICE PICS M8] work by taking out the two lines of extra shite PB chooses to insert in the BBCode, but it's tedious. Much more straightforward on IMGUR to be honest.

Agree on the Facebook site - I get the impression it is populated mainly by people who are not on here (maybe they can't register!)

At least it's not got as bad as that "Classic Car Scrapyard Finds" one though...

The XM bleeped low coolant at me...

Campbell beat me to it with the "check hoses" advice! Back in the dim & distant, my 2.0 petrol bleeped a similar warning shortly before the bottom hose let go...

Had a 50 gallon ex chemical water barrel in the garden I inherited from the previous owner. So decided today to empty it as its an eyesore(along with the rest of the garden!), so drilled a hole at the bottom. I never realised how much 50 gallons was when its all over the floor, it was an impressive jet of water that came out the hole though!
