Rover 800 Expansion tanks :evil::evil:

I'd be off to snoop round a scrap yard and find something roughly the same size/shape with outlets coming off in more or less the same direction, then spend about £7 on it and forget it rather than pump good money into a bloody header tank. If you want something new then there's a company on ebay that'll do a custom one in alloy for about £75, just send them one to copy

Cheers cobs. I just remembered that I do have an expansion tank from a later mk2 car, apparently these last better. I'll keep a check for the alloy ones, I did here about this when I got speaking to the owner of a Saab 90 I keep seeing in Bearwood. He told me that Saabs were also prone to expansion tank breakages and that he had an alloy one installed, it was too dark to spot it.

Also - I regret not stopping to see a White Triumph Toledo in Bearwood, I've seen this car twice and with the oenwer sitting in it. I shall indeed stop to chat to the owner and try and grab a pic. I bet I dont see him again....

Bust the ligament in my knee again, fell down the stairs, and just learned that my brother's girlfriend has had a miscarriage of their expected twins. Still, since starting the move into my parents at least my hair has stopped falling out in big chunks.

Shit Angyl, there just isn't anything to be said, other than my utter condolences to you brother and his girlfriend. I've said it before in times like these, but I think it important to circle the wagons, so you, they and everyone else in the family can be strong for each other.

Oh, and in the midst of that accidental seriousness, stop being a spackypaws, you weren't designed for falling down stairs!

Metrobi, where abouts are you? I ask in case someone in your 'hood may know of a job going or something.

Yesterday the Alfa Romeo 156 which has so far been nice and reliable blew the fuse for the wipers as I was switching between different wipe settings. I changed it for another 20amp fuse and all was well.

Today I am driving home from work on a very twisty A-road in the dark, following a BMW M3, when I decide to swipe the stalk upwards to do one wipe, it gets half way through the wipe and the wipers stop. Fuse blown again. No big problem I think, it hasn't rained since first thing this morning and I'm not too far from home, I'll make it without having to clear the screen. about 30 seconds later it begins bucketing down with rain and I am completely blind. Luckily I know the road well so I managed a couple of corners and more by memory than sight pull into a little side turning into a small business park. Here I change the fuse, but being out of 20 amp fuses, go for a 30 amp. I give this a shot and everything seems normal again.

I make it another 2 miles and the rain has eased so I have the wipers set on intermittent when suddenly they switch to 'holy shit its monsoon season' speed. I try all settings on intermittent, normal speed and fast wipe and all now run at this speed. In addition they are no longer self parking so stop where ever they are when the stalk goes to the 'off' position.

I have no fucking clue what is wrong here. My immediate thought says the stalk, although it could just as easily be the motor as I think the whole control unit for the wipers is housed in there, however it could be pretty much any other electrical component on the car. I changed the wiper linkage about 2 weeks ago and replaced everything as it was and there has been no problems since, but I just wonder if water has been making its way into the casework for the motor or similar. I just really hope it isn't the stalk because I have heard that to replace the stalks, requires a new steering column.

What really is making me grumpy is that because of this cars superb reliability I have it booked in for a full change of belts on Wednesday, so I could really do with finding out what the problem is and how much it is going to cost to fix before I commit to spending £500 on a big engine service.

Down in the West Midlands, Cradley to be exact. The great Lord Sterling has given me a lead for an agency that I'm going to try tomorrow.

Thanks for askin' and apologies to the collective for my previous rant. I just needed to vent a little.

I think my TR7 is suffering from 405 syndrome on ebay. I've had over 1000 page views in a couple of days and 42 watchers but not questions. The auctions buy it now so why they're watching it I don't know.

Started pre-moting the van today, poked a hole in it's hind quarters. FUCKSTICKS ON A BASTARDING BISCUIT!

Do you still need a bonnet? There's a place on eBay with a C15 in for breaking.

Go to Volvo 460 last night. Do not pass go, do not collect £145.23.

Get note on windscreen.

'HI M8 IF you are scraping this car I will give you 200 pound for the engine and box

PLEASE LEAVE MY VOLVO ALONE. :(

I should write a reply, saying "No, the neighbours scrape it for me" in large letters (So the short sighted cunts can have one of their less retarded family read it to them.)

The wifes C8 is a heap of garlic flavoured shit.

So far this year:-

2 new tyres £200

MOT & Service £250

Timing belt, water pump and tensioners £400

EGR valve £320 (including all the pissing about with diagnostics and stuff cleaning it x3 and finally giving up on it as a bad job)

NOW the bloody rear washer pipe has ruptured somewhere in the boot and is pissing washer fluid out everywhere.

Kin 'ell, is it me or have people suddenly found spending power? I've lost around 14 auctions in the last 10 days, thats a record. Alot of the items I've lost out on have ended up going for stupid money, for example;

A set of JDM K11 Micra/March floor mats - Ended at £51, free postage

K11 foglight kit - £43 + £7.50 postage

2 1/43 model cars (Minichamps Pug 306 and Herpa Polo) £50 + £3 postage

A 1/60 Audi A5 model car by Majorette - £18

Last edition Dandy Comic - £18.95

The list goes on. I know that many might say 'its worth that to those who'll pay' But I've never seen similar items go for so much during the rest of the year (bar the JDM mats, there was a similar auction a few months back, it ended at around the £50+ mark, then a few weeks later, I managed to buy some Micra JDM mats through B.I.N for about £20 incl postage)

Also - I'm glad I wont be having to go into work on Friday, its wearing me out and those bastard Christmas songs are starting to turn me bovine.

Mo, this probably won't help but those Minichamps 306s go for metric fucktonnes because they're pretty sought after. I saw a couple on eBay hit £65 which is bloody mental considering they're 1:43. I've seen Otto Mobile 306s go for less than that.

I did wonder, I dont think I've ever seen a 1:43 Pug 306. I just shot a bid on and did get into bidding war for a small while, I gave up and when I got the 'You didnt win' e-mail I was interested to see what it went for. Just like most things I've bid on, it went for mad money. Still, I suppose if I had more money to yog about I think even I would bid upto that much. I did once bid about £250 on a 1/25 Rover Sterling model, and I still got outbid....

20Th December, got to my 65 birthday and became a pensioner, yes, I have been looking forward to that for years.

Why the fuck can't people drive in a little bit of rain?

Been fucking it down here all night, so the roads are a bit flooded in places, however I came across someone doing 25mph (again) and braking every time a car came past. It was raining hard, it was fine to be cautious but 25mph!?!?!

Was a clio this time. I might keep a tally of the fuckwit cars

and there's me just waiting for an item I am going to retail at £1,500 that just cost me £107 on eBay cos the twunt that listed it misdescribed it.

Lots of stuff has been going silly money though.

'+1'.

Also, just to counter the fuckwits who drive round in perfect visibility with their fog lights on, there are equal numbers of people who don't bother with their fog lights when you can barely see the end of your bonnet from the drivers seat. These cock warblers also usually have one headlight bulb out just to help* matters too.

Just the other night, I had a car following me in my Land Rover. The lights were SO bright, they were pointing into my screen mounted mirror (Over 6 feet off the ground) I tried a few flashes of my roof mounted rear-facing "worklights" (More like anti-tailgater lights tbh) I stopped at the first red light and got out to tell the driver about the bright lights... "I think you have full beam on love...." "NO I haven't, these are normal lights......" (all defiant like) I noticed a small blue light on the dash. "You have full beam on, that's what the blue light is for" "NO I haven't" and she shut her window. SO I drove on with my work lights on.... for a good mile. Before I turned off. The car? Citroen C4. Says it all really. :P

I drive around with the rear view mirror dipped the majority of the time due to blinding headlights, The ZX is worse for it than the Puma was.

Driving home last night in the dark I saw what I thought was a boke close to the verge on the other side of the road. Was a transit with the drivers side light out. No sidelight, nothing! People who have a light out and drive with the other side on full beam to compensate deserve a punch in the face too

Work. We have to drive on the quayside of a Victorian dock to get to our car park and I've driven over a long redundant cast iron gate stop that was sitting 4" proud of the ground and cracked the sump of the Golf. £109+ VAT for a new sump.

Do I have a claim?
