I do wonder why he was out on his bike in the dark though....just asking to get knocked off if you ask me. Lights or not it is so easy to not see a bike in amongst all the super bright headlights of cars these days.

Don't even get me started on those utter idiots who think cycling at night with no lights or helmet is acceptable

Hey Si, you want to see some of the local cyclists round here. They have lights that would shame a police helicopter on the front and the backs are like a mobile disco.

I fancy getting some Cateye twin headlights for mine, one set I was looking at have a high and dipped beam, they're bloody brilliant.

So that makes it alright then? :x It's that sort of attitude that makes me scared to go out on the bike at all, never mind in the dark.

Don't be daft, of course I don't think it's alright. I love cycling and would defend cyclists rights to use the road totally. I just don't think it could have been necessary for a Tour de France/Olympic medal winning cyclist to be out training in the dark that's all. I can't imagine he was doing a 5-10 mile an hour cycle like most people going to/from work.

Just an unnecessary risk for him is all I was thinking as it is his living.

It's just mind boggling that people don't value their lives more around here, you can buy led lights in the poundshop for goodness sake, one set of batteries will last all winter. There are more bikes without lights than with, I even saw 2 blokes riding 2 abreast in the pitch black the other night, fortunately they were going in the other direction.

Maybe he thought he'd be safer in the dark with lights than in the daytime with the low winter sun blinding everybody.

It's just been on the news, looks like a fast bit of road so he was lucky to not be more seriously hurt. Also a knee jerk reaction about cycle safety on the roads......start nicking people for riding with no lights and jumping red traffic lights for a start.

Daylight visibilty is obviously far better, the sun is only blinding as it rises and sets, not all day.

As I said, even with lights on it is still very easy to miss a bikes lights in amongst car headlights, I'm not saying he deserved be knocked off his bike! Lots of people have to be out on the roads as their bike is their only transport. I just can't see that it was necessary for Bradley to be out at night on his bike, I know he is perfectly entitled to but it's just a dangerous place to be.

Driving in Sheffield makes me nervous at the best of times, it's a fantastic place to learn as I did because you have to learn that much faster and better. However, what makes me *really* nervous is the cyclists that appear on my left with no lights and wearing dark clothes after the sun has gone down. This week I very nearly collected one coming off a roundabout, he didn't even have reflectors on the bike he was riding and by the time I saw him it was very nearly too late and I ALWAYS check my left hand mirror on roundabouts for just this reason.

That said, there are a lot of cyclists in Sheffield who are massively visible that other road users seem oblivious to. If a cyclist has the courtesy to wear something reflective and light themselves up with flashy LEDs and whatnot I'm all for it. The ones that think I should just look harder for something little bigger than a pedestrian working their way along with lanes of 30mph+ traffic without so much as a reflector to catch my lights scare me a lot. There are many cyclists I've spotted purely because of a flashing light they're wearing that I would have otherwise not have seen at all, and when you're travelling on dark unlit country roads it's all the more important to mimic a christmas tree if you're on two wheels.

Then there's the magical appearing motorcyclist who I generally become aware of once they're level with my door mirror as they have no lights on and are dressed in dark clothes. Again, I have no problem with motorbikes sharing the road, I'm very much pro-biker, but not when they take unnecessary risks for the sake of their ego or whatever. I'm in a big metal box and even I have my sidelights on most of the time to make myself more visible to other road users, being on a motorbike makes such a habit even more important.

I really worry that one day I'll hit a two wheeled road user and the cause will be that I genuinely won't see them until far too late even though I'm looking for them.

In my experience the problem isn't people not seeing you, it's people knowing fine that you're there and still going ahead with their manoeuvre.

I can't find a fucking bonnet for the C15, I think I'm going to have to resort to running it with a bonnet made out of gaffer tape like some sort of twat.

The fucking thing isn't even 10 years old yet for fuck's sake.

I would appear I've managed to upset a facebook community, there's a Ford based page called "Ford old skool heritage" that spends it whole time posting my photos it's found on google on the page, I don't mind but a few times I've commented on photos that it's one of mine he's using again only for my comment to get deleted.

It's now got to the point that a good 80% of photos used (that keep getting reposted too) are mine so last night i just asked if you would mind either crediting me back to me once in a while and it gave him the opportunity to thank you, instead he started gobbing off about how he's found them on google and can do what he likes with them and ended up blocking me from commenting anymore.

He's now posted this "just to let everybody know im closing this site down today because im having so much grief downloading pictures and being threatened with the courts as there saying there pictures are copyrights i assumed if they are on the net you can download them im a bit gutted especially having so many likes if anybody wants to take over the site ill add you as an admin sorry folks thanks for all your likes"

Which has started a outcry, I can't comment on it to set the record straight as he's blocked me and i look like the bad guy, FFS, all the twat had to do is just ask and say thanks, am I being out of order?

Posted

No, you're in the right of course. Why don't you set your own 'Classic Ford' section off though and make sure that old cock warbler doesn't get invited, or whatever happens on Faceache?

*Or just nick some of his pictures, photoshop them a bit (including pictures of him tugging an alsastion off or something] and then complain that he threatened to take you to the RSPCA for revealing that he's a poodle fiddling twat.

Posted

Wow, someone using the name "old skool ford" turned out to be a dummy spitter who can't take the slightest criticism or complaint? Hmmmm.

Posted

That guy sounds like a cock to me, with it being facebook you've got his full name and probably the town he lives in, just stick them into google and you'll probably have his full address within a few seconds. Get hardwood-kitchens or whatever to pop round and measure up for a kitchen etc.

Posted

I am half tempted to start my own page just posting photos of cars from my flickr stream but I get enough crap constantly posted on my own FB page from other groups let alone to start one of my own and do the same to others.

Posted

Triiger your in the right...and as SOC alluded to, there are too many into the 'old skool' thing that are complete knobend and dummy spitters....it is one of the reasons I am seldom on Ford based forums any more....

It's just annoying me now that I'm being made to look like a arsehole and everyone's commenting about how I'm a such a cu*t, I won't mind but they don't even know me!, I didn't even threaten him court action like he's making out!, I've messaged the guy who still won't thank you or ask for using literally 100's and 100's of my photos.

Message sent, Mike.

Cunts indeed! Are your photos watermarked or have your name on them. Can you not complain to face ache that your pics have been nicked by afore mentioned cnuts and threaten them with legal action etc etc, fair chance that they will simply drop the site like a frozen fart and leave cnuts without a home.

My tip is, don't worry about it, everyone on the thread will have forgotten all about it by tomorrow morning

 Trust me, I won't be losing any sleep over it, the twat who runs the page is just a argumentative tosspot.

This has TOTALLY blown out of portion. :D:D:D

I honestly don't mind, although the bloke running the page is a total cretin, he can't even string a full sentence together, This is really a mountain out of a mole hill just because the guy won't ask permission and keep kicking off about he found them online and can do what he like.

Just had a look and it does seem that the guy running the page is being a total mong about it but haven't we all been guilty of simply hitting Google search for a pic of a car to illustrate something and posted up the first pic that suits, without crediting the copyright holder? I know I have....

I see he hasn't posted up the screen grab that I asked for. Funny, that.
