I've only joined up to say a few things, granted I didn't paint my car for other peoples enjoyment, only my own but I'm fed up of know it alls jumping to conclusions about my personal life and my car.

Firstly bringing my personal life/clothing/money situation into this is absolutely pathetic, your lives

must be amazing to have to sit online to talk about it! The way I dress is because I like the clothes, I'm not making a statement, how judgemental are you all?!

 

I have worked since I left school,and I didn't ask the building trade to die on its arse or England to fill up with the Polish.

Well, the thing is, I think you do have a problem with it.

Without wising to sound like one of those arrogant bell-ends on Barry Boys, you've registered on here specifically to tell us all that we're bell-ends and that you couldn't care less about what we think. You then went a step further and sent some shitty PMs to members on here that you thought deserved it. Those are not the actions of someone who couldn't care less. If you truly weren't arsed, you'd have left it when it all went pear shaped on RR and just got on with it.

What you do with your property is your call, but if you take photos of yourself stood next to it and post them on a public forum, people are gonna take the piss. As I said in my earlier post, I've seen far worse. Not sure what you did to invite forum wide censure, but it's not going to stop now. You've got the tartan plaid JCB out. The pictures made it look nice. It has had a very bad paintjob, and when the wings were replaced, they were painted a completely different shade of white. The passenger door was full of filler, same with the front valance, the bonnet is dented, and there was rust patches all over the car. These were all taken back to bare metal, treated, etch primed, high build primered, flatted back then yes, hand painted. The reason it was hand painted is because I'm waiting to get a compressor to spray the car, it will be going satin black and not matt.

I can't believe how narrow minded you are on here, you all call me names and slate the fuck out of me when you haven't actually got a clue about anything to do with me.

The car gets whatever it needs to keep it on the road, it is my daily driver and it won't ever be going to a scrapyard like you all seem to think. I won't be getting rid of this, purely because its tax exempt and insurance is 85 quid a year...

 

Jumping to conclusions about your car? Er, it's a 40 odd year old Trumpet that looked rather tidy and original. It now looks shit. It won't look any better with a back yard Aldi compressor spray job in satin black.

If you post stuff on the internet, you really should expect that some people won't like everything you do. This isn't the blue forum, this place is only moderated on special occasions when someone is being an utter prick (and we can find one of the all powerful management to click the button for us). You've taken an original old Triumph and made it most unTriumphant, thrown a strop about not being able to fit Dolly Sprint wheels, and now joined here to remonstrate because we took the piss a little.

I found all the crap you and the others had been writing on autoshite. Its actually been on my mind the whole day, some of them guys got very personal, even bringing my looks and the way I dress into it, and making assumptions about how many miles a do in a car because I'm unemployed. What the hell is wrong with you lot?I find it beyond belief that you feel the need to chat about my life and car on a forum I'm not a member of so can't even stick up for myself. At the end of the day, this car gets everything it needs to keep it going, it gets maintained, driven gently and used everyday regardless of journey length, yet all I hear is the car will end up in a scrapyard within a year or I will sell it as an unfinished project.... It's pathetic, all because of a colour change. For Christ sake, the previous owner gave the car a bad blow over with paint, but failed to treat any rust, I sanded back through it and treated it, primered it then hand painted it. So what? If I left it as it was it would've rusted away, instead I've made it last longer but I get ripped into instead, even if I was working and had money, I still wouldn't give it decent paint job as I would worry too much about damage. I never let things bother me like this, but its far too personal. So thanks....

I just don't know what your problem is, its a car that's worth naff all. They aren't very desireable, and all I've done is change the colour. I think you have issues of your own if you feel the need to pick on someone.

 

Mate, I think you need to calm down a bit. Its the internet. You don't know me, and I don't know you. For all you know, I might be a complete and utter ar$ehole, or maybe a classic troll. If I am, whats the point in worrying about what I say? No point taking any notice of someone who is just a clueless gob$hite. At the end of the day its your car and even if I don't like matt black paint jobs, as far as I am concerned you 100% have the right to apply one to your car so you should go right ahead if thats what you want to do, and ignore any morons on the internet who give you gip about it, including me. Theres probably folk out there who look at what I do and think 'what an idiot/bodger etc' and theres nowt I can do about it, so I don't let it bother me.

What I would say is, if you are sensitive to criticism, don't post up your adventures on the internet!!! Whatever you (or i) do, theres quite likely to be some plank comes along and disses it, thats the nature of the internet. Retro-rides is pretty good for being positive and not descending into a flame war, but all forums have disputes about stuff sometimes, you've just got to remember 'its the internet', i'm not banging on your front door shouting abuse through the letterbox and scaring the kids.

 

For what its worth, I don't like matt black rattle can/roller driveway paint jobs simply because in MOST cases they are one of the last few steps before an old car reaches the scrapheap. Maybe yours will be different, thats entirely up to you.

 

Most important is that you enjoy your old motor however you like and don't let it, or any 'baggage' that comes with it (including unhelpful comments on a forum), spoil your enjoyment. Its just supposed to be a fun hobby at the end of the day innit. If the whole thing has ended up causing you a load of upset, well i'm sorry.

 

But how can you say a matt black paintjob means it will end up in a scrapyard? What a load of rubbish. It's just your opinion that don't mean squat.

What bothers me is the personal remarks. What is the actual point in that? And somewhere I'm not even a member to defend myself. I don't care about people hating my car, I think volksangyls polo is hideous and he must be in drugs, but the point is I don't start slating him for it, or doing it behind his back. its so childish why you all feel the need to do it. Have you socialised before? When I go to the pub with my friends we spend a lot of time laughing at the misfortunes of others, and social movements, such as posing sincerely in front of a modified car, that we find amusing. An Internet is a simple extension of this.
