I'd like to appologise for helping towards the fuel chaos by spending my Saturday driving my van from Rotherham to Barnsley then from Barnsley to Brighton and back

(Brighton - full of people trying just that bit too hard to be trendy while not really being able to afford to live there).

RIP Max.

100_2053-vi.jpg

Max is the black dog in this photo. He was dumped at Andreas's garage a bit over a year ago, as a tiny puppy, probably shouldn't have been taken from his mother. Andreas looked after him with the help of the other dog you can see, Julie, who was only a couple of months older, having also been left at the garage (in fact we found her the morning after collecting my Granada fom Limassol). As you can see, Max grew up big and strong; also playful, he had a beautiful loving nature.

Last night somebody poisoned him. Andreas found him this morning, dead. Bastards.

Oh and a few weeks ago, Julie went missing from her new home with one of Andreas's sons. She hasn't been seen since. Probably stolen. More bastards.

Eddy, as an animal lover I'm feeling your pain there, and fwiw you have my utmost sympathy. Anyone who causes pain or suffering to an animal is a w*nk*r of the highest order.

That is shit Eddy, like Cav I also feel your pain as an animal lover too. Find these bastards and poison them, see how they like it

Cyprus does seem to be Animal Cruelty Central. All the "animal" charities are Brit-run... that must say something. I know Brits who would take issue with the way Andreas's dogs live, but they are kept at the garage to do a job, they are his guard dogs. If you spend time with him and them, you can see he does love them. But he's in a minority here.

I do hope you manage to trace who did it and do some justice. While I am not particularly fond of the concept of looking after a pet (or a child, or even a girlfriend  ), I really don't get why anyone would set out to kill them.

Posted

Yeh, that really sucks Eddy, some people really do need a taste of the their own medicine..

Why would someone want to poison your dog anyway? Frigging foreigners!

I think the clue is in the term "guard dog..." If you want to loot a garage, it makes sense to get the dog/s out of the way, doesn't it? It's also possible someone just didn't care for him barking at night. Not sure he ever did, but that was certainly part of his function. Very likely we will never find out who it was...

In a whole other grump: Eurosport. Now I'm not a bloke to sit down in front of the footy all Sunday (I can imagine few things I'd enjoy less) but over here we get World Touring Cars, which is about all the racing I can find on my channels. In company with several other channels (some of them showing movies I'd like to watch) they work for a few seconds then divert to some blank channel. If you're lucky, after a pause twice as long as the snippet shown, it comes back. Except the same thing happens again, and again. Transmission by Norman Collier, FFS! Occasionally, and totally unpredictably, this doesn't happen and the channel works properly. Last week I watched Cars 2 on one of the offending movie channels, with hardly any interruption. It was in Greek, no subtitles. Somehow, I didn't need dialogue, I understood enough from the images! :D

I've just tried to get Eurosport Live through my computer (I never use the computer for TV-watching). Nothing worked. I'm going now to fiddle with my telly before the second race, I might at least be able to salvage that. Fingers crossed!

Car parts - the accumilation of and lofts.....

Spent 4 bloody hours this evening clearing the loft because a couple of months ago, some jolly chappy type from British Gas plumped up on my doorstep offering free loft insulation through the local council. He had a quick butchers at the loft and came to the conclusion that we hardly had any insulation. (Half the loft isnt covered)

So tomorrow they are due to to fit some insulation which mean me clearing the loft, after 3 hours the landing was starting to look like that exessive hoarder blokes place, you couldnt see the floor, I couldnt beleive how much crap I'd collected, everything from old college work to old work stuff/tools/plastic nut 'n' bolt trays and a can of Plasti-cote 'RUST NOT' and SPRAY ANYWAY (From my old job as a CNC machinist, not entirely sure what SPRAY ANYWAY does). I couldnt be arsed getting my all my car stuff down because 1) Ma_Sterling isnt actually aware of how much car stuff I've got up there and 2) I managed to use some old temporary loft flooring - a couple of old wardrobe doors - to make some shelving, where I placed my 3 Mk1 Rover 800s wings (One of which is bashed, not entirely sure why I've still got it) and 4 boxes full of assorted Rover 800 related crap, the fifth box was too big. After 4 hours I still had several plastic bags and coupl eof small boxes, but I'd had enough, I gave up.

Roll on tomorrow where I can finally throw all that shit back up into the loft and hopefully forget about it.

Oh, also - ebay and my bidding finger/mind - Why did I think it was a good idea to bid (and win) on a Rover 800 security kit thing?

People who do things like that to animals deserve to be tied up to a concrete post, and have a few hard steel toe capped kicks to the guts and balls

Princess now on Sorn because there is no money in my piggy bank. *grump*

After wasting time yesterday PM and this morning, thinking "yeah I'll go outside with a camera in a while", it's now started raining for the first time in about 10 days. Now my eBay car pics will look truly sh*t. Fookstix.

I feel your pain, been there many times. In fact I'm "officially" without the Granada for the very same reason; fortunately I have off-road space for it.

My grump of the night: I've started packing my model cars for the move (yes, a move six months away yet; I have that many). I've realised that whatever I do with the Barrow house, I'm not going to have enough display space for everything, so I've sorted out some Vanguards that can go. I'll be advertising them within the club first. There are 9 vans and 5 cars in this batch, all mint and boxed. Should be worth 100 euros, I would have thought. If anyone here is interested, that'll be plus postage of course; but you'll probably find them cheaper on ebay. (Shoots self in foot... )

I hate moving, and especially packing; and I hate selling stuff, especially stuff I deliberately bought because I wanted it.

I thought I had a £500 daily withdrawal limit on my card - turns out it's actually £250. I shall have to find time tomorrow to run to a bank somewhere between trains en route to Kent and beg them for money, otherwise I'll be £400 short when I pick up the Scrote. I seem to remember the last time I asked for money over the counter, they were incredibly unhelpful. Arsebiscuits.

if it's any help, I have withdrawn £800 in cash over the counter from Lloyds and Co-Op recently without any issues at all.

Posted

I never had any problems with Lloyds/TSB when I was with them either - unfortunately I'm now with Santander who seem to be a bit more anal about their 'procedures'. Oh well.

offered £210k on a house, knocked back, raised offer to £220k, now have to wait till tomorrow to hear!

Remind Santander that it is YOUR money and not theirs!

Satan Dan Dare are bloody useless in branch.

When me + Mrs Tops were married it took 3 visits to the branch to change her name on the mortgage, each time whatever paperwork we were told to bring either on the phone, or on the visit before, we were told it wasn't what was needed.

You need to bring so and so.

Go and get so and so, return to the branch.

Oh, you need this and that.

And so on and so on.

And on two of the visits there were people ranting at the counter for various other balls ups they had made.

Account moved.

Maybe Santander is the Moneyshite of the financial world !

Santander is Spanish for fucking useless. Phact!

I worked in their Glasgow Call centre for two years... They are fucking useless!

As an aside, we hated the branch just as much as we hated the idiotic procedures...

All the cock-ups were quite fun though, like when they sent 18,000 customers someone else's statement :D:shock:
