The grumpy thread

I was welding up a shotbox P reg Fiesta yesterday afternoon. They had sent me photos of 2 small patches of welding that needed doing on the sills on each side. I did one side and went round to the other and half the sill was missing (how did they miss that when sending the photos?). MOT retest is today so no chance to replace the sill. Ended up putting in a bit of metal from the rear wheel to halfway under the door. To make matters worse it turns out there was very little to attach it to at the bottom of the sill (I should have folded it over) but seemed to manage to get it secure with a lot of hammering and swearing. By now it was getting dark and the batteries in my mask have run out so I adopted the position the tip, close eyes and turn away technique.

Today I have awful sunburn on 1 side of my face. Never really thought that through. Never had it before as have always used a mask.

Look, I could not even get the length of the thing on my camera. It goes on in each direction off the picture.

Even if it passes, I told them to get shot of the car as its a danger to the roads. Whilst I am confident my welding is secure enough I dont think patching that much of the sill is a good idea. We think you can do that for an MOT but its more than a bit dodgy.

The price of vegetables. Seriously. Just went to Lidl, bell peppers are 69p and aubergines 79p. Not per kilo, not per lb, but PER PIECE. If you calculate the price per kilo, they work out more expensive than smoked ham and about double the price of chicken fillets. Both are imported from Holland, so it's not a case of paying a fortune for transport. GR3 for healthy eating.

Thats what happen when people stop buying veg in green grocers. Also see milk.

Car parts websites selling stuff they don't actually have in stock :x

I bought some parts online yesterday, order confirmed, paid for etc.

Today I received an email saying they don't have ANY of the 10 things I ordered and can't get them!

Just finished spewing my ring up for the umpteenth time. In Lille. Homesick to the extreme. Not in the eddy league of things but it's making me grumpy.

By the way. I'll take this time to hope mrs Rr a speedy recovery and our thoughts go out to you eddy in this most harrowing time. I hope I speak for the majority, we're all there for you.

Andy and Andria.

I'm a little sad (can't really call it a grump given how serious some grumps in here have become!) because my 1924 piano has developed a few more faults. It was already 'written off' by a piano company several years ago, and the last person to tune it was quite rude about it, but playing it is becoming more difficult as bits keep breaking. It's condition hasn't been helped by it falling over in the truck when we moved house (my wife decided to try and manoever it in the back on the truck on her own. I heard a big and tuneful bang but fortunately she wasn't underneath it!).

Problem is, what do I do with it? I don't think there's much of a restoration market for pianos, but it feels as wrong to destroy it as taking a blowtorch to a 1924 car. Mind you, once we've got the wood burner installed, we will need fuel...

Is there not a pre-war upright meet at Hendesf...maybe not, it never ends well

Oh look, it's getting dark a bit earlier now. How about all the f*ck*ng morons turn their fog lights on, that should help matters?

At least it will go out in a blaze of glory...

In situations like this you need..... Chelsea_Dolls_House_Antiques, aka Raymanboy. Try contacting him via eBay and be prepared for a ten million word reply with references to Rolls Royce radiator badges, the German invasion of Poland, Liberace, Spitfires, Hurricanes and the price of walking sticks in Inner Mongolia!

Strip it out, stick in an H frame and take it to Hednesford!

(Arse, already done by Cheggers!)

I got an oven out of my "lock up" (dad's garage) today and carried it round to the house so he could wire it up and see if it works, carrying it up the two steps the door opened and promptly fell off smashing on the floor. Arse.

On the plus side the washer and dishwasher I put out for scrap were gone within an hour. Probably on the way to the oval as we speak.

What about having a Hendrix style session. Take it out in the back garden. Load of something flammable light it up and start playing! See how far you get through the piece :)

Or the Autoshite way is to find some old packing cases, gaffer tape and jb weld and stick it back together. Oh and chuck in some K Seal just in case it has been near a Rover :)

Amen brother, I feel your pain. Fortunately, my new shite motor has lots of lights. I have more lights for my Amazon now, too. I have put some Nightbreakers in the C4, just make sure.

And if all fails, there's always the quicklime.

Fuck's sake. It's just a fat looking estate car.

What a fabulous idea putting countless switches on the roof panel too, that should help people concentrate on the road

Right, that's f*cking it now. I've finally had enough of that gobshite Wright after he cut a record short I like short today. It won't make any difference except make me feel slightly better for getting it off my chest, but I've just mailed his poxy show and inculded my real e-mail address:

'Any chance Steve Wright could just shut the f*ck up a bit? Seriously.

Today was the final straw: he played half a Del Amitri song, cut it short then said that it was miserable. Well here's somethings you should consider, you jabbering bastard: 1) You're paid to entertain youur listners. Just because you don't like a song doesn't mean we don't. 2)Is there actually ever a point of having guests on your show? All you ever f*cking do is talk over them, cut them short and attempt (but actually fail) to try and be funny. Well here's news for you: YOU ARE NOT EVEN ONE MILLIONTH AS FUNNY AS YOU THINK YOU ARE, YOU F*CKING ANNOYING TURD.

I've stuck by Radio2 for years because it is, or was, the best radio station out there but today was the final straw. Shove your show up your fat arse, Wright, I'll find some other station to listen to when you're on you cretinous bastard.

Right, I'll leave you to your arse licking, inane 'banter' and piss poor DJ 'skills' and find someone better to listen to. Which could be anyone.'

Just think... now the handbrake's electric, they could put that up there too. Then Clarkson's comments in the C6 piece on TG a few years back would come to pass...

Thank you for your email.

I can confirm that the email you have received is a scam e-mail, we strongly recommend you stop any further correspondence with this scam. Auto Trader take these matters very seriously and we are therefore very grateful that you have contacted us to alert us of this problem.

Riiight. How come when I google the text of the E-mail, there's about 50k results, all complaining about autotrader responses..

I love how their solution is to

remove your email address to prevent any further fraudulent emails

Isn't that why I'm paying you £35? So that people can contact me about my shit, overpriced car?

...the truth about Steve Wright...

Nice one, Billy - I hope you get an answer! And that Wrighty gets the boot. He was a dinosaur 20 years ago... :?

I've finally had enough of that gobshite Wright'

Pissed me off for years that twat has - 2pm is mp3 player time for me these days.

Does this picture make you feel better about him Billy?

Hmmm. It might not come to think of it. He is an utter pillock and his egotistical rantings were enough to make sure I stopped listening to him years ago.

I know people have a bit of a downer on BMW drivers, but frankly I have found new Seat drivers much, much worse. Is it just me?!

Nope, they couldn't afford a VW so have to drive like they mean business.

DriverS? You have seen more than one new Seat being driven around? Are you sure you weren't visiting the factory in Barcelona? :P

Where does that leave the Nissan Qashqai? They're all driven aggressively in a plume of DPF smoke where I live. The stretch of the A56 down to the Lymm roundabout seems to bring out the worse in them.
