Don't mention fanny, you'll set 'em off again!

Sounds like a bugger of a job.

He can't mention fanny, but you've got a free-reign with buggery? One rule etc etc.

Minor vehicle-related grump.

My BMW key has decided to stop remote central locking. I like things to work and despite the claims that the BMW (diamond shaped) key has a battery that gets recharged everytime it's used, eventually the batteries die.

I managed to open the key fob, and locate the battery, which is soldered 4 times with tiny soldering points. They are easy to prise apart, but as I did the last one I noticed that the bottom battery contact track has broken away from its solder.

Arse! No wonder it stopped, there may be nothing wrong with the battery after all. Pah, now I need to get the track soldered and I ain't good at soldering, oddly enough, I used to be great at arc welding. (Yes, I know, different but similar principles)

Mo, if you fancy a trip to Malvern, I could ask if the Owd Giffer's up to helping out?  (Retired radar engineer, a whizz at soldering, etc.)

I can't solder so I've used blue tack to "repair" a broken solder join in a key fob before now.

I gave up on my E46 fob and sent it away to get fixed-cost me £30 from memory and was well worth it. I had 2 keys so could keep the car mobile while one was getting fixed.

Headlight bulb out :(

Ordered a pair of Philips Xtreme vision +130% H4s.  Arrived yesterday.  Set to to fit this morning, in the rain :(

Remove bumper - no two fasteners the same. Takes a good half hour to get it off.

Remove light and discover that it is an H7 that is out :(

Fit H4s anyway, root around for a spare H7 - none to be found.  Did have an H4 but wanted the Philips bulbs.

Look on Halfords web page. Halfords only a mile away. Stupid prices and not a Philips option.

Look on ECP site - pair of Osram Night Breaker Unlimited for £17 - 35% discount this weekend :)

Except discount doesn't apply for this product :(

Print the click and collect waffle - except printer has decided to run out of ink so barely legible.

Waiting for daughter to give me a lift to Gateshead now.

Ten minute jobs :ssch00101:

Was going to clean the car - hasn't been done since September.  Not much chance of that happening now.

I had about 3 months use from Osram Night Breaker Unlimited over the summer about 2 years ago.

Would NOT use again, when i spoke to Osram technical  about the poor use I got nowhere.

I do prefer the Philips ones, they do seem to last a few years, but there were none available - the Osram ones are the only pair in stock.

^ No, may give them a go next time.  Would have been simpler to get them from Halfords.  Still waiting for a lift to ECP.

An Post thingy at Tosco in Naas.

Sent Mrs Honda to post a calendar. Comes back to tell me €5.50, to which I reply ROBBING BASTARDS WITH FUCKED SCALES. To date, I've sent 117 of these envelopes and I know that a single calendar is well under 250g (233g) and should be €4.25.

The E36 had a key battery behind a cover, 2 mins to replace and 3 quid for a battery.

That's progress!  :-D

Dog owners!

I'm one myself first off.

However anyone that has a dog, part of that comes with the responsibility to clean up your dogs mess.

I've just spent the day at work in a substation where not only has some dirty lazy fuckers allowed their dogs to foul all over the grass verge and gate entrance outside but also thrown all the doggy bags full of turd over the fence into the substation.

Dirty lazy bastards! Pick it up. Put it in a bin. It's not fucking hard and even your pea sized brains can actually do it.

Not only did I and my colleagues end up stepping in some of it today but we had to work in the stench of it all day. It's disgusting and if someone did this outside their houses they'd be the first to complain.

Worse still this was immediately outside a health/fitness centres outdoor AstroTurf sports compound where kids are playing sports.

It pisses me right off. I clean up after my pets and so should everyone else.

Posted

^ couldn't agree more it takes 2 seconds to pick it up, pees me right off I'm lucky around where I live because it's always the same faces who walk their dogs past so if their dogs make any mess they pick it up.

I understand (but don't condone) people who just leave it. But I'm totally baffled by the phenomenon of bags left hanging on fences, or thrown over them. You've picked it up already! That's the disgusting part done! How hard is it to then put the bag in a bin?

People do that in the woods where I walk the dogs. They've picked it up and then hung them in the trees or over the gatepost as you walk into the woods.

Well done morons, if you'd left it on the floor unbagged it'd just rot or wash away. Bagging it then hanging up in a tree means it won't rot or wash away but will stay there for years! Why!? Disgusting.

Might take you up on that. Maybe a Midz Meet there at some point? Local key repair place couldn't help so I now have a rubber band holding the key together!

The CX's nearside high beam has failed. Got the bulb out only to find the filament was still intact. Cleaned the contacts and stuck the thing back in. Still nothing. Scratched head, puzzled. All the other headlamp bulbs work perfectly.

And still it rained. I'll check the fuses some other time. Ditto the air horns and compressor.

Mine was the same.

There is some slight discolouration of the glass near one of the pins so I suspect that that pin has sheared.

Before Christmas I dismantled a steel ramp and rails from the front of my daughter's new house and dragged it all round the back and into her garden.

Recently noticed it was all missing.  Someone nicked it!

Did us a favour but they might have asked and they were trespassing.

Went there last week and the ramp in the garden, from the gate to the deck had also been taken.

Again, did us a favour as it wasn't wanted and would have been scrapped anyway but it is still theft.
