minor grump, but theres just been an ad on the telly, and apparently the nissan qashqui (crashed car?) is some small suv car of the year????

wtf!!!!! as i recall they are bloody colossal!! ok not range roony big, but bloody big enough!!!

SWMBO has a real gay little jeep thing, a suzi vitarta. dunno what model it is, its about a 2000 year one and its blue an silver, with an ill advised bonnet scoop....

now that IS a SMALL suv, it has got proper free wheeling hubs, a hi-lo transfer box, everything....

i shouldn't be surprised, all modern cars are shite....

The Qashqow is shockingly low on interior space, considering the outside dimensions. Maybe that's how they classify car 'size' now.

Sounds like the worst combination cms! Auto and the 2.2 lump. For some reason they both seem to get bad press. Not owned either so can't say for sure though

How is it that classic policy quotes are coming out at the same price as regular insurers on the Corsa?  About £530.

Because its not a classic? Least not in the age sphere, had similar issues with my polo, even tho that's an 88.worth trying the FJ online quote, tho obv I don't know your individual stats.

Sorry to hear about the cat. I've lost two in the last couple o months.

They're both perfectly fine, it's just that after 12 years they've decided to move in with the neighbours, I think the little turncoat bastards got fed up with the dogs, despite both dogs staying well out of their way.

We do still have Humphrey, the stray we homed a while back. He never wants to go anywhere.post-5001-0-63356200-1421261869_thumb.jpg

I have the Frontera on a classic policy with footman James and it's only 20 years old. Why would they say a corsa of similar age is different?

I think earlier 2.2s suffered with some form of spazzification in the oil circulation department and there was an oil way mod for them. I expect they're the least popular as engine size (thus possibly road tax and fuel) will be more and the autobox won't help.

One of my cats moved in with the neighbours about five years ago.  He was always a bit of an attention seeker and I don't think he liked me being out at work all day.  He still comes in for an occasional bite to eat though, the cheeky fucker.

cms's first car, which he still has, is a Vauxhall. It's a V thing, unless it's a Volkswagen.

mk2s are ace but

Isn't it the 2.2 that if you slightly over torque one of the plugs it cracks the head or something daft?

Seriously, a pa in third at 5mph will pull all the way to 90 in the same gear. There was serious torque in the 2.6.

My PB with the 3.3 was the same.  Probably the best spread of torque of any car I've ever driven.  Didn't half go some too, although it did like a drink.

Lightbulbs, domestic. Specifically, the ones that look like an H3 bulb with a globe on them. Lot of shit. They're about 4 quid each and they only last around a month.

Fuckin Tony Blair.

I had a 2.3 and a 2.6 (59 and 61) and commuted between stroud and Ayrshire in the 2.6 every week for three months. Ate the miles at about 22mpg and 75mph. The 2.3 was a three on the tree and the 2.6 was a four on the floor with a pb box.

I recently bought one of those from Poundland after the energy saver in the spare room packed up.  It's made by Osram too, so it's probably a Nightbreaker with a globe around it.  It does a far better job of lighting the room than the energy saver ever did.

One of the main reasons I switched to CFLs was because I was sick of the almost daily click-flash-ping routine. CFLs could blow as well but at least they didn't trip the whole lighting circuit when they did.

It's all about LED lights now, they are sweet. Not long ago they were worse than CFLS, but in the last couple of years they have really come along. Every time a CFL goes dull or packs up in my house, it gets replaced with an LED. Nicer colour, instant on (to full brightness), just as efficient and no flicker. Loads better in security lights too cos they don't mind turning on and off all the time, and they are just as bright when it's really cold out, whereas CFLs are nigh on useless when it's below about 10c, they take an hour to warm up!

Ref GM 2.2 disastrous oil feed/cam chain munchy munchy noises. Use a genuine oil filter and the very best oil of the correct grade, to stave off similar issues.

What is point storms, we've been out since Friday morning day and night cutting trees free of power lines and houses. I am delirious with tiredness.

Got my arse handed to me sparring at my kickboxing class. My own fault for taking on people around half my age.

I am 43 in July - maybe I should take up ty - ping or no can do.

The wind outside (as opposed to the wind inside - silly sod I am :)  ) is gusting up to 90mph apparently. Tis a tad breezy out there and some of that tad breeziness is finding its way inside through various gaps.

It's cold and scary and both dogs are hiding under the duvet keeping warm.

Woe is me and so on.....

Virgin.

Phoned to cancel TV on 8th December, leaving phone and BB connected. 30 days notice so given 7th as disconnect. Also wangled a free Superhub 2 as my SH1 was poo and slow.

Checked online account last week, they've put on a £20 charge for installing a superhub. Erm, nice try but all you did was post it, I installed it myself. Phoned up, queried, they tried to fob me off with "it's an activation fee" but thankfully it was in the call notes that I'd been given it FOC, so they waived the fee. Except they haven't, they've left me with a £78 bill but credited £20 to the month after, just to get the last laugh.

Yesterday, noticed it's after the 7th, and my TV is still working. Phone back, every time I press the buttons to go through the menu it hangs up. Brilliant.

Phone back today, query the disconnect not happening, "oh yeah, I can see you asked for it but nobody actually put it through. You need to speak to disconnections, they have a 15 minute queue, do you want to hold?" Well no, not really but I suppose I'll have to.

Chancers. Oh, and my "£20 broadband and phone" that they offered me to stop me cancelling entirely is actually £21.50 and goes up to £24 next month, more information that they forgot to tell me when I signed up for it!
