Don't you have to have a CRB check before you're allowed to carry schoolkids anyway? They brought that in here when I was driving taxis 20 years ago.

Yes,that's the point, all taxi and PH drivers have to have what was an enhanced CRB now known as a DBS check.

In this case this guy was turned down due to what came up on his CRB but was appealed by the Mayor as a special case.

What really pisses me off is that about 10 years ago I had to plead to keep my PH licence in front of a committee because I had 9 points for speeding and this raping scumbag just has to get his mate from Mosque to say he's a 'good family man' and all the official safeguards are overridden.

Youve fucked Janice Long? She lives opposite my dad in Birmingham, want me to say hi?

Yes he does. Can you film it?

'Hi Janice, some bloke I talk to on line who pretends to be Keith Chegwin, says he lives in a knicker draw and drives a shit car says he back scuttled you in Delamere Forest one night and wants to know if he can have his sock back.'

WCPGW?

New set of tyres all round 23K ago, n/s/r had a fekkin huge puncture in it and will have to be replaced. Annoying. At least tyre place can match it so I only have to have one.

Good to be driving again, out of practice/lost my nerve though :( - stupid when I think I did about 30K in the 12 months running up to recent op. Sure it'll come back with practice.

How do you make tyres last 23kmileses?

I have to replace mine every year/10,000 miles.

It was mainly motorway miles and all done within last 12 months. I'd expect to get 30-odd thousand/couple of years out of tyres - Citroen BX, very rarely braked hard as it has gears and I can see further than the front of the bonnet :P (I sometimes wonder about other cars/drivers, that's a whole other and MUCH LONGER grump which most people on here could probably match word for word). Perhaps I'm just unreasonable - current set of tyres are only Marshalls - decent, and I've been happy with them, good value for money IMO.

Googled Janice Long. Have been a little sick in my mouth, blehhh.

Another bloody mojo crash.

Todays top tip - if you are in any way interested in cars, dont move to France.

I need 4 wheel studs for a Citroen C2 with alloy wheels to replace the four locknuts I had to butcher off mine.

There are two cities within reasonable driving distance from where I live, and yesterday I did the tour of both of them....every scrapyard, every parts factors, every accessories shop looking for these studs and the result of all this endeavour was a lot of teeth sucking and "could maybe order them" type of responses. If they were open in the first place. August? in the south of France? plenty of businesses literally shut their doors for the entire month.

Even two different main dealers dont stock them. The scrapyards just chuck studs into the metal skips. One invited me to sift through a wheelie bin half full of the fucking things to find the right ones, which I attempted but gave up on as a lost cause.

I am in France, looking for wheel studs for a French car, not an exhaust manifold for a Ferrari in Burkina Faso...

Ordered a set online in the end...twenty Euros for the four! The studs are cheap enough, but add on delivery and it starts to get dear. And thats another fucking grump. Im paying for the 48 hour service, because its that or the 24 hour service at double the cost, but thats a waste of money because no matter which service I pay for since I ordered them on a Friday afternoon, they wont have been arsed to pick the order so it will wait till Monday and they might get sent Tuesday, which means I might get them Thursday, maybe Friday. Thats a fucking week, not 48 hours. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. I order anything its the same story.

Customer service here is fucking non existent - they literally dont understand the concept.

Anything to do with cars is needlessly difficult and expensive.

No wonder everybody has sacked off their old cars and are driving leased Dacia Sandero Stepways these days.

Some bastard has decided to install permanent average speed cameras and a 60mph limit on the A1 through Cambridgeshire. I can't imagine that the scourge won't now spread...

Absolutely nothing. Had a fabulous day and I'm pissed out of my head.

France people holiday in August. All of them, nothing happens in France in August. It would be a great time to invade if you were that way inclined, or arsed. Still like France though.

Aye.

Kinda surprised Adolf didn't just wait a few weeks in 1940.

Cambridgeshire constabulary are complete c*nts when it comes to average speed cameras.  The A14 through Cambs has been bad for years now - other bits still aren't too bad though, you can still get a bit of a wiggle on through Northants if need be.

I am told that SPECS cameras are now in use around Gateshead/Newcastle/Metrocentre area - at 40 mph.

Here's me thinking the previous, 50 limit was dog shit.

Hopefully they will fuck them off, once the work is complete!

Investigated possibly dead rear washer pump in the Avensis earlier.  In trying to get the front wheel off, I now find myself with a snapped wheel stud and a mangled locking nut.  And it turns out I need two washer pumps - the rear one is definitely dead, but both have snapped multiplugs, probably a legacy of the impact.  Oh well.  At least replacements were cheap (£24 a pair delivered).  Then it can go back for its' MOT fail items (rear drop links and subframe bushes) and Mrs W can get another year's motoring out of it.

AA en route to deal with the locking nut (not sure what his reaction will be to the fact I've tried hammering a smaller Luxobarges_R_Us over it already), new stud and nut on order.  Thankfully doesn't look like a difficult job once it all arrives, which I can hopefully do on Tuesday evening.

Also, Mazda exhaust is blowing like a bastard (need to work out where it's coming from) and it puffs out blue smoke on startup - more so since I changed the oil.  Perhaps 5W30 is too thin?  There's also evidence of a leak from the rocker cover.  Also found more rust (who'd have thought?); the offside rear shock absorber is somewhat crumbly on it's casing.  Ho hum.  A pair of secondhand Boges have been ordered, at least the shock is separate from the spring so should be a piece of cake (possibly seized bolts notwithstanding) to change.

AA subcontractor ("we're very busy...") turns up an hour and a half late; getting on for two and a half hours since I made the call. Still, non emergency I suppose. Then turns out he doesn't have a fancy locking nut cracker. He manages to chisel out some kind of sleeve then expects me to provide a sacrificial socket ("I ain't breakin' one of mine again").

Luckily it all comes apart with no damage to socket; new (regular) wheelnut on, just broken stud to replace. The remaining locking nuts will be binned and replaced with regular jobs shortly.

First world problems and all that but I don't feel I've had good value from my £130/yr membership fee.

You forgot to mention the very annoying finger nail picking so called 'self made' millionaire, Deborah Meaden, who in reality, inherited her parents holiday camp business.

I quite like her :(   I think it's that Hoppen bint that annoys me the most.

I'm not sure if I'd shag that Hoppen bird, I mean, she is getting on a bit but meh.
