The grumpy thread

I am very much part of the b-team in that place - always have my mistakes pointed out publicly or blamed for things that aren't even my fault whereas if anyone else does something wrong it's overlooked. I'm totally done with the place and would be very happy if they told me not to bother coming in the next morning

Posted

Leave.

It's the only answer. I'm not being flippant here, this is serious advice from someone who's been there and still carries the scars. Life is too short, and you spend far too much of it at work, to be unhappy. Go. Even if it takes you a while to get something else, and I'm fully aware of that possibility, it's worth it. Yes, you'll have to adjust your lifestyle, hell, I lived in a scrap caravan for 4 months! But it's better than staying and just getting angrier and more downtrodden. Leave. Now. Seriously. You'll feel so much better so quickly.

Problem is that if I leave of my own accord I can't claim JSA whilst trying to find something else. Big part of me thinks I'll just end up doing something equally shit and low paid, just in a different office

Posted

Yep, I understand. I do know it isn't simple. Only you can judge how much adjustment you need, or will be able, to do in terms of adjusting your outgoings. The JSA issue is iniquitous and unjust. However, you do absolutely have to look after your own mental health. If it means going after other shit-level jobs, well ok, I've done that enough, I'm in one now! As long as you can make your life fit around it, you'll survive. Same job, different place? That means a different set of people, hopefully some you will be able to work with! You're clearly not getting that where you are so you really don't have anything to lose emotionally. Good luck.

Yo, good luck with whatever you decide NC. I do know that workplaces can be shit places to spend time in. I'd agree with what Eddy says, spending time in a place like that can and probably will drive you mad. Life does throw some right shit at you sometimes, so its best to know be prepared and have a relaxed mind about it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

My grump - This knocking noise on the Rover is getting worse. I'm almost certain its coming from the front brakes. I've just parted with £367 to get the bloody thing through the MOT but I reckon Steve's MOT man was a picky bastard. The car was Ok when I took it there, I should have taken it my old garage man. :|

It'll be going back to Steve to rectify this problem soon, but this means I can't take it with me to Telford in the weekend

Re Post Office.

Price changes only affect retail 'over the counter' customers and business customers are paying pretty much what they did previously. Now that the Post Office and Royal Mail are seperate entities I guess its all about making it ready for privatisation...

Interestingly I can now post the same parcel to anywhere in Europe for less than the same parcel costs to post to the UK though. Can't get my head around that really.

For couriers I'd +1 on Interparcels economy service which is UPS. Always very good.

Yodel should be avoided at all costs.

bathroom break

To be fair, having a bath at work is taking the piss a bit.

Sort of a grump and grin all inn one, but the grump is winning so.....

I've sold the 306. Hassle free sale on Gumtree to a young lad from Huddersfield, who came down this morning and paid up after a check over and test drive. That should be a grin, I hear you say, and you'd be right. But.....

I now have no car. I really want retro80sboy's 106 XSi, but I couldn't get down there today, I'm working tomorrow, and he's working Monday till gone 5. No great shakes, I know, but seeing as I'm relying on Our Maud to take me there, which means dragging the kids along, it's proving to be something of a ballache.

I know, it's only Wrexham, but it's an hour and a half each way, and Mrs S isn't full of patience at present, which is also making me grumpy.

Meh.

How about Retrogeezer's Bluebird? Seems like a hell of a lot of car for the money!

Posted

Sporty - can't you catch the train down to Wrexham? It'd save putting the Mrs out.

The train ticket may be worth it for marital harmony ;)

Posted

Can I help anywhere, Chris? I could (possibly) bike it to Wrexham, lob the bike into the 106 and drive it back here at least. Time/weather/missus not wanting to go somewhere permitting it may be do-able tomorrow.

It's loads of car for the money, but it's just not "me". The main reason for selling the 306 was this 106, which is what's also making me grumpy bacause I've got that nagging voice telling me I should have kept the 306 for the easy life.

Posted

Thanks, Billy, that's a top offer. I'm going to look into the train, to be honest, as Skattrd says. The ticket's not much different to the cost of petrol there and back, so it's probably the best way. Knowing my luck, it'll be a million miles from the nearest station!

Posted

I don't think Rob is that far from the station mate, we went there in Pete's Jag to get the 309 for Mini-Mad once. When are you planning on going anyhow? I'm free most of tomorrow and probably Monday afternoon after about 2.00, even if you just get to Chester I could pick you up and take you to Rob's.

Posted

Looks like I've got it sorted! Going by train, probably after work tomorrow. It's a bit late, seeing as I don't finish until 8pm, so I won't get to Wrexham until nearly 10.30, but Rob has said he's ok with that, so it means I'll have Monday free, and won't need a lift home from work.

Sorted, grump dome. Back to normal.

Dremel 3000 in B&Q reduced to £29.00, none left so went to another one, none there either, next one had some but at the original price and wouldn't entertain selling them at the same price as the other branches.

And another minus for none of them selling the "wires" for the strimmer I bought from them, so I'm resorting to cutting line into pieces instead.

Posted

I had a right war with B+Q to buy a power drill while it was on special offer, 'out of stock' etc etc, I won in the end though!!! Got quite a decent bosch hammer drill for £30.

Posted

If it's a really good offer they'll probably only get about 10 per store. And the staff get first dibs.

Who's admin on the Autoshite FB page?. Two massive shiny bellends have joined up after getting the boot from the Scrapyard finds group and have already started spamming posts saying how shit cars are, (A Renault 11 in this example). One owns a OFAH's yellow Reliant Supervan, need i say any more?.

No! That tells us exactly what sort of massive throbbing bell end you're dealing with.

Oooh, a sporting event! I'm off to FB for a look.....

What do you mean? Sounds pretty wacky and original to me. I bet he's a right laugh!

No, I think he's just shown me his whole hand..... and in it, is a picture of a cunt.

An eBay seller being a turd: I want to buy their car (or to be exact, my son does) and have gone to some trouble to make it happen, not the least of which was our very own Barrett going out of his way to look at the car and ring me up with a brilliant report on it.

I've got a Shipley bloke on stand by with a great quote and can get the whole bleeding shebang set up in a flash and the seller is playing silly buggers

I hate to say it, but they are probably the kind of lowlife fuckwits we're going to have all over this forum once new people can join again...

Undoubtedly. Whoever ends up with the job of admin is going to be pretty busy for the first few weeks I reckon.

Sellers who put 'no dreamers' in their adverts, what a bunch of knobs.

I don't mean people who offer scrap prices for any car no matter what it is or the condition its in, those guys are tools. But I find it annoying to see that written in adverts by sellers as a sort of 'pre-emptive strike' when the car they are trying to shift is already comically over-priced by these chancers.

They know in their bones that realistically the price they are asking is a joke and they do it to cow any purchaser out of bringing them back to earth.

No dreamers? GTF!

Posted

I often put 'no dreamers', its as useful as 'no timewasters' and 'no halfwits', if you don't put it you're leaving yourself wide open to even more thick fuckers ringing up than usual. If you put it I reckon some folk do ask themselves if they are a dreamer and conclude that they are one, and so give it a miss.
