The grumpy thread

Also: Irish solicitors and legal system. I'm expecting a legacy which three months ago was "due in 6-8 weeks." Nobody can tell me when I'm going to see this money, which is quite a bummer as I'm relying on it to pay for our move. Which is little more than a week away now.

The money's resting in their account, in a Father Ted-esque way.

Phone the cunts and give them a bollocking.

just phone and ask what rate of interest they are giving you for 'storing' your money

They were waiting for month end, to gain interest on THEIR account contents, you'll see.

Give me their address, and I'll burn them out.

I'm grumpy because I dropped a Panasonic Toughbook HiCap battery on my foot and my little toe is now nearly the size of my big toe, and painful as hell. So here's a top tip: don't try to drink a can of beer, smoke a tab, move said battery and talk on the phone at the same time.

My new PC arrived - hooray! Just found out my copy of XP is an upgrade disk and not a full OS, so can't install it - ballsacks!

Natwest are still getting on my tits.

OK, scotch cunts - if you want to change your terms & conditions without telling me, I'm following your rules to the absolute minimum.

You want 3 transactions a month? Fine. That'll be three separate visits to the Co-Op for a 21 p banana each time. Your rules, not mine. Your rules, that you changed and didn't tell me. Your rules, that you changed, didn't tell me and then fined me for. Your rules, that you changed, didn't tell me, and refused to admit liability when your computer took £50 of my money and refused point blank to give back.

Etc, etc and so forth. Enjoy it while it lasts - your retention figures for graduates must be UTTER SHIT.

Should have bought a Ram diesel :)

Still might struggle to break double digits however when you consider the same engine also powers these...

Usually you can do a full install from an upgrade disk. You just need to show it that you have a valid disk from a previous version that is on the upgrade path to do it.

I have a hideous throat infection that makes me sound like Hillary Devey and really fucking hurts, to the point where I did not sleep at all last night. I'm off work because my job is 95% talking. I'm just really hoping to feel better tomorrow. Being at home, feeling shit and not making money or managing anything particularly constructive is really dull.

Which flavour is it?

I've the original discs for some versions, can pop one in the Post tomorrow.

Any chance of the rest of September being an e-petition free month? Thanks.

You could always start an e-petition to campaign for it.

We had one. It broke a lot.

Usually my truck averages 17-19 mpg but I've been doing a lot of sitting about in traffic and short journey stuff. That eats into the mileage.

Considering it farts along on 4 sounding like an old Saab at 40 quite happily returning about 27-33 mpg.. It's not so bad. Just short trips bite.

Much better than the previous Ford Expedition which struggled to get over 11mpg.

Weirdly that wasn't even the biggest SUV Ford made. Presenting exhibit A, the Ford Excursion:

...and the ultimate in Bush-era profligacy, the International CXT:

The exhaust on my van had a 10" long bit of 2.5" pipe coming out of the back box which fed into a 3.5" fancypants tailpipe which looked a bit gash. I cut it off just where it went into the 3.5" bit hoping it would make the exhaust a bit quieter like removing the horn off a megaphone. It's done exactly the opposite and now the van has gone from being pretty fucking noisy to absolutely bloody ridiculous. bah.

The FTL has just wasted an entire roll of film by jamming its advance spool up. The viewfinder's covered in some kind of foam from the body that I can't remove. It may be time to give the Real Camera Company a call and see if they can rescue it from the knacker's yard - otherwise I'll take the f/1.4 lens off it, sell the body for spares and concentrate on the other two 35mm cameras I have lying around. The lens will probably be sold too as it fouls the Kood when I put it on my D60. I can't run it wide open either as the rear glass is larger than the diameter of the adaptor. If the body's scrap and the lens won't fit on my Nikon, I might as well get some money back from it all. F/1.4 M42 lenses do rather well on eBay, and FTL kit doesn't show up very often.

That said, the OM-1 isn't doing well either. It's shredded some of the expired Svema 100 I picked up off eBay. It may well have to be separated from the camera in a dark bag - I just hope the majority of the shots are still intact.

That leaves the loft-fresh EE2 to run without damaging the film I have left. Getting B&W film processed is a palarver - I'm still waiting on the shots from the Lucky 100 I took to come back from Germany.

Two new tyres for my van today, £194.00 - where's the "bummed" smilie.

Throw in £50.00 of diesel that might last me 3 days, phone bill, water rates that's a comfy £400.00 down the shitter in one day.

£109 in fees to Ebay for last month, already owe them £118 for this month...

16" buggers, the cheapo Linglong's were not much cheaper and the Michelin's are best not mentioned.

the very cheapest Nankang on Mytyres are £70.00 in that size.

As soon as I've some stuff cleared I'm storing for someone it's had it, I love it to bits but it's too thirsty to just tool about in when it's not earning money. :(
