I still don't understand why anyone deals directly with BT.

Posted

Recently ditched BT for plusnet after they refused to negotiate anything resembling a decent deal, which actually ended in the BT salesman suggesting I go to plusnet because they can't touch them on price - so I did.

I've also found that Sky are extremely willing to negotiate these days, even with existing customers.  1st year I was getting the full package with them for 75% discount as a returning customer, which worked out about £24 a month, when this expired I phoned up to cancel and they did me the same deal but minus the sports - which I never watch anyway, for £22 a month.  This expired again last November so I phoned up to cancel, figuring there was no way they would repeat it for a 3rd year running, it took a bit more persistence this time but they did me another deal for £24 a month, again everything besides sports.

I will go back to BT though once plusnet is up, because their new customer discounts and cashback\top cashback offers are pretty unbeatable, its just existing customers who get rogered

I had a great service from BT for about 3 years, not spoiled by a house move, then it went down and they fucked it right up. Had to winge on Facebook to get them to cancel after two months of bollocks.

Why is it seemingly so difficult for those who carry out roadworks to figure out that in the morning rush hour there will be more traffic going into town than coming out, and vice versa in the evening, and adjust the timing of the traffic lights accordingly?  Once again this morning they were digging up the road on my route into work (UK Power Network this time), and there was a 2-mile queue of traffic Norwich-bound (which I was able to bypass 2/3 of by going down some back roads, but still held me up for a good ten minutes), and a grand total of seven cars waiting at the lights going the other way.  Doubtless I'll have the reverse problem on my way home.

It really cannot be rocket science.  Am I missing something, or are these people just as thick as pigshit?

We had this by my work yesterday, 8 mile queue coming in, 3 cars going out. One irate chap got out and 'had a word' with the roadwork blokes and the light sequence was hastily changed apparently.

Id already gone with my route c which takes me through Dibley and out further up the motorway

How did you know ?

Have I missed a thread somewhere ?

Is it the same as mine* ? If it is, how the feck do you turn the heating on ?

Pics ?

Same thing in Warrington this morning , one lane coned off on the A49 1st roundabout off the M62 with traffic coming at it from 4 directions

I must've driven past 600 cars trying to get into Warrington on one road and going nowhere because the lights are on green for 7 SECONDS !!!

Proper first world grump, late back from work but find a parcel waiting. I am expecting a couple of guitar pedals after a swap with GM on here, not expecting them today so thought woohoo! Fun time tonight, only to find it’s actually a tap I had forgotten I had ordered.

Saturday I spent many long days (or so it seemed) on the phone to BT, sorting out deals etc and while I was on I asked to be transferred to the repairs and maintenance section. In the blink of an eye, I was on the  'sub-continent' instead of darkest Yorkshire where I spoke to a lovely chap who did alarming things to my TV by remote control. Having done the same, he declared my 'Youview' box to be fooked and a new one will be with you by Monday.

All jolly good and great apart from the fact that it didn't arrive yesterday nor this morning so I called them and spoke to a chap in the very deepest Yorkshire who sounded like he was in the same room as me with the LOUDEST VOICE EVER! Turns out that because I was doing two things with BT at the same time, they canceled the new box, for some reason totally unknown to me, the chap I was speaking to and common sense, in general, it seems BT cannot handle two operations at the same time but with different departments.

Rubbish

Said it on here before, but BT can't even handle one thing at once, let alone 2.

Any confusion at their end = complete cancellation of services with no reason given.

Attempts to get a reason = hours on the phone being passed to entirely made up departments, all staffed by someone called Steven.

And the end result is always them not having a clue, you not getting your services and having to go to another company, who oddly have no bother providing what every Steven in the universe combined couldn't get their head around.

Who was it bloody ages ago that had a copper cut them up then give them grief for it?

Came out of Northern Powerhouse behind Conelrad in his Mini. For some reason there's police everywhere, despite there being hardly any other cars about. I get a mile or so down the road, and I see a police 3 series ahead of Conrad light up and head off, shortly after it pulled someone over. I notice a pair of headlights in my mirrors moving altogether too quickly, move in a bit to let them pass. The car rocks a bit and something cuts me up at a rate of knots, a knee-jerk reaction causes me to tap the horn, to try and warn Conrad, and also, because oi!, as I see it's another copper. With the blue lights off FFS.

I notice three coppers have pulled over a fella in a black Merc. After I pass them the copper from before (presumably) drives up, pulls me over and tells me I'm misusing the horn, okay maybe that's fair enough, I didn't argue or anything, but why the hell didn't he have his blues on? He then went on about me interfering with his job (he says, taking time out from a traffic stop to have a go at me for something minor?) and something about taxpayer money before letting me go.

tl;dr police car cuts me up at speed with no lights or siren, criticises me for using the horn to warn another driver of a potential hazard?

Yeah, I thought you would, nothing came of it. I managed to catch up to JM and gave him a thumbs up before I split off the A57.

Wait a minute, aren’t YOU supposed to accuse HIM of wasting taxpayer money by stopping you? Did you even remember to tell him that you pay his wages?

Yeah, I was briefly toying with the idea to pull over as well when I saw you stopped to come to your rescue.

Then I thought it's enough if one gets shot dead and reconsidered.

In the old days he'd have handcuffed himself, then 'fallen down the stairs' at the nick.

AFAIK nobody else will provide service on my FTTP - is that not true?

Just out of curiosity, he didn’t have a welsh accent, did he?

Both Zen and AAISP will deal with BT and supply FTTP.

I need to order some Saab Opal Green paint and went to an eBay supplier in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. They claim to be able to mix any colour to code, which I supplied.I got a dispatch confirmation, then later they start saying that the paint is too difficult to mix. When I asked what that meant they said the colour is discontinued. How can any mixed paint colour be discontinued? And why mark the stuff as dispatched before they've even tried to mix it?

I've supplied them with the Dupont code for the shade, but if that doesn't work they'll get some one star feedback.

Fair play, I didn’t know that. Should be useful when I come out of contract!

Zen currently £15 a month more than BT mind!

My guess, your colour has an unusual pigment in it which they either don't have or have run out of and can't / won't order a bottle just to put two drops in your order and sit on a shelf until it dries out.

Can you tell I used to work for a place that mixed paint?

Ghosty he could have booked you for sounding the horn in a built up area during prohibited hours. You got away lightly there.

Depends how much you value your time

It’s only prohibited for reasons other than warning others of your presence surely

No, that's the only reason you can use a horn in the daylight.

Once after dusk, it's flashing lights or do not collect £200
