Austin 1300 (ADO 16) Estate. Actual garage Find. Edinburgh. Taken away.

OK, story with this is one of my work colleagues bought a flat which belonged to an elderly member of his family after they passed away a few years ago. It came with a garage but the doors had been blocked many years previously. He knew there was a car inside but that was all. He's not a car person so had no interest.

Fast forward to last weekend and he's finally managed to get the garage open and found this.

Now, it looks pretty fucked to me and is likely only good for parts. Or a maniac.

He doesn't want money for it, although a donation to a charity of his choosing would be accepted. He wants it gone though, and gone complete.

If you want spares then you take the whole thing! There's also a spare 1100 engine there too which needs to go with it.

PM me and I'll put you in touch.

Don't all rush at once :)

Blimey that looks crispy. I would say the 1275 engine should be good for £400+ if its not seized though, and hydro displacers are always sought after

The ideal lockdown project for those of you who want to learn how to weld and are exploring sadism.

One of the last registered and five left apparently.

If no one on  here takes it on, there's facebook group where I would expect it to find a new home.

Edited, six left maybe.

You searched for NSF57M

Worth picking up for the engines alone if you live local.

If you are distant the engine may be the only thing on your trailer when you arrive home.

It’s never going to see the road again, think that’s a given but some guy restoring another 1300 would probably be all over it for those bits on it. Puzzled why it was blocked up in the garage instead of just selling it at the time or whatever?

going to be fun finding anything solid to winch it out and onto a trailer, dismantle on site and put the rust into a wheely bin, assume the garage will be getting dispose of as it looks as rotten as the car

A friend of mine (non shiter) has expressed an interest.

Plan is to get it rolling and drag it back to his unit to see if we can get it running and assess it. But, we suspect it's a breaker. I'll keep folk updated.

ColdWarMotors "will it run?"

*sadly not 6 (...or 8. cyls)  ;)

That could be saveable, depends on the underside. Might have been parked away due to a dead engine and it's just got wet from above. If so, then possibly not too bad for repair.

Admittedly that floor doesn't look great though.

There seems to be a never ending supply of ADO16s being pulled out of peoples garages and barns 😄

Unfortunately as time goes on, the condition is getting worse of them. :(😟

It would be an epic collection thread!

Hopefully the radio still works so you could blare out some tunes while smoking a cigar on the way home.

What a sexy little estate, this (well the follow on thread hopefully!) could be epic.

It needs to be bought by some young punk with acne and then it slowly begins fixing itself on the drive home, all the while Rock n roll tunes blare from the single speaker...

If I had any sane way of getting it to me, I'd give it a go. It would be worth learning to weld for this.

I would suggest taking a tree branch to give it a damned good thrashing!

My money would be on the branch!

@SiC gave it a good go.

Then bought one that was finished.

You'll be getting no rock'n'roll out of that Hitachi, even if it does work. Five Live, Radio 4 LW and a handful of BBC local radio stations and that's about yer lot!

I would but I'm fresh out of acne cream and my wife's tolerance for shit on the drive has already been exceeded.

It looks like a timber structure- assuming it’s water tight that’s supposed* to be pretty good at “breathing” but it seems to have been doing more inhaling than exhaling.

This sounds like one of the most crap bits of clickbait ever. "Man breaks lock off garage door and can't believe what he finds"

Oh, it's a fucked Austin 1100.
