Outstanding result there, well done.

I can't take credit,  that goes to my friend.

I'm glad it got sorted before taking it to the garage, who knows how many things they will have replaced and not got to the problem

You'll know you have really dodgy boost seals when there's a cloud of smoke like a battleship coming out of the back and you get surging from the turbo.

It's actually quite entertaining.

Isn't that the point where diesel engine runaway starts becoming a real potential danger?

Don't honestly know.  I got it fixed straight away.  Safety third.

That Volvo 760 is fantastic.  I'd love to see more of that.

More will come, I guess it's just quietly and competently being a functional car in the background...

And there still aren't many places to go yet either.  But I'll get a picture next time we do anything.

Our exercise today.

I was followed by one terrible driver. On the straight and down hill,  right up my arse. This was a national speed limit with averaging cameras and I was sticking to 60. However, in the up hills I was booting it up the hills (again sticking to 60) and dick face behind suddenly found out how to follow at a distance.

Other than that the car got a good exercise. Boy fell asleep so humans not so much exercise.

Just for more Volvo content, here's a few pics from today,  ferrying the kids and calling in at a place where I got a photo with the old 440 last year just to get a matching pic with the 740. Steady and reliable old thing, the Volvo.

I realised I had not posted the previous 440 pic here, so here it is along with the 740 pic...

Service day, including pollen filter. I've never bothered with pollen filters before but after the blower resistor on what's now @Sunny Jim's BMW and after advice indirectly from @dollywobblerrecently though his YouTube channel I figured it's probably worth doing.

Turns out it's easy in this, didn't stop me trying to unscrew the computer box first though while looking for it.

I had a helper for the pollen and intake air filters.

Now for the rest of the filters.

To be fair that doesn't look too bad - no leaves, twigs or small animals.

Yes it looks reasonable. There were a couple of tiny leaves, bit of dust but the air flow would have been good.

Still,  good to get it done.

Done!

Even though the local AS meet is postponed for better rules and better weather I managed to meet another shitter for a permissible 'walk'; read chatting in the car park of the Sportmans, now closed and deserted apart from a dog.

@brownnovagreat to see you as always and nice to see your new mx5!

I was bloody soaked when I got back in the car!! But yes, two households permitted, any distance within Wales, so we took advantage of that to meet up and drive half the evo triangle... in was glad of my hard top!

Good to see you Tim and your lovely Volvo!

And the dog was just there barking at cars... presuming it belonged to the pub!

Nice filter! And we each got a pic of each other taking a picture behind the cars 😂

I was soaking, my face hurt with wind burn too when I got back in the car.

Despite the kids steaming up the side windows and me being somewhat soggy the good old Volvo windscreen refused to steam up. Good car, it is.

I had forgotten that I ordered headlight wiper fittings, they turned up today!

Next problem is that I only have one wiper blade and the rubber in it is shit. I can live with shit rubber, but I will need another wiper blade.

But for now, improvement!20210409_122505.thumb.jpg.78e17c032549beb29c93d364038f871a.jpg

I remember my dad clearing the screen on his 240 before we set off on a journey one time and how noisy the headlight wipers were if you were stood outside the car! It was quite a performance.

Doing really well. I've sorted the drainage channel problem and given her a big boy service and it's running like a dream!

Amazing!

I was thinking of you and the leak during the winter rain we had.

I'm glad you've got it sorted 👍
