What about a new spoiler and rear diffuser. Easily reversible when the time comes to sell.

Call that custom!

Don't you recognise a 1990 BX 16TRS when you see one!

Looking at that rear bumper reminds me of one of the house robots off robot wars

Always a great looker.  Base spec wheels look good as well.  Am assuming this one is owned by Kermit the Frog but doesn’t that look brilliant?

I'm going to do the T cutting/ wheel painting / sorting bits gradually, as I have both ADHD and M.E, meaning I have the attention span of a goldfish and I get tired and achy very quickly.

Here was today's action

Before (I realise I'm not going to sort the fuel filler cover with a bit of t cut)

Clean!  Personally I think silver wheels would suit it better.  If you squint it looks like it hasn’t any wheels at all and if they are nicely styled why disguise them?

I agree.

Just need to do one of the following :

1. Hand paint them

2. Mask up as best I can and spray

3. Take one off at a time, let air out a bit and mask and spray properly.

4. Leave them for now.

Option 1 will look shit close up. Option 3 is a pain as the spare is bald, and even then may not come out any better than option 2. Option 4 is no good, they need doing.

Another option is to spray them with clear lacquer, then at least they will be a shiny black...

Mask them up with playing cards while on the car, I've done it tons of times to freshen up steel wheels

I had to let the tyres down to get the cards in here

+1 for the playing cards trick, did that on my mk2 Astra rims - Nissan silver IIRC, came out Ok considering I was about 5 pints in when I started....

I didn't have any playing cards to hand when I last painted some wheels so I just cut a magazine cover into lots of squares to do the same thing, was so much quicker than trying to mask them up!

Rover often lives out on the road now, at least at busier times in the car park to avoid any issues with landlord / neighbours. Having said that, at least 3 other flats have 2 cars...

I drove it 'round the block' today, and I must say, I still prefer the comfort and driving position of the R8 over the Citroën. Plus it is much faster!

In all seriousness though, the only things I can see to do are to paint the wheels silver*, and replace the modern Citroen badge on the back with a silver and black one.

This and this ??

Apparently the badges are correct for that year / model and are probably original. But I don't like them so may remove them altogether

Decided an hour before an important conference call was a good time to start doing stuff.

Tried doing the glow plugs.

Fail. 3 wouldn't budge, even with engine hot and loads of Plusgas. Access isn't as great as it looks, so will have to investigate properly when I have more time.

Next I started the playing card trick on the wheels. That wasn't a good plan. Got part done and they either wouldn't go in or I kept bending them. Decided to roll the car back a bit to relieve the pressure on the tyre /rim and then half of them fell out. ?

I gave up.

Oh, and last night I found out I need new boots on the rear suspension cylinders.

Turned my hand to some artwork (colouring in) instead as less likely to fuck that up.

I think I'm going to get a garage to do the glow plugs, I'm scared of breaking them.

As for the wheels? Don't know. Might do them one at a time, once I find a better spare.

Glowplugs are a pain in the bum, they're often really tight and one of them is always an absolute chore to get out.  If you can get someone else to do it, then do, it's just a happier time all round.  Did the rear boots on mine recently, it's not that bad a job: https://autoshite.com/topic/34202-1987-citroen-bx/?do=findComment&comment=2005663

When you do the wheels, if you're finding the playing card trick doesn't work just use some masking tape (tear short pieces to make the curve easier) and paper and do it the old fashioned way. Either take them off the car and lay them down, or do them one at a time on the car.  Rear ones are easier to do off the car because of the shape of the arches.

I had a silver J reg 1.6 pez Meteor when I were't lad.

A set of 205 GTi 1.9 alloys looked spot on on it. If you can find a set.

I’ve tried bits of card and stuff before for masking but it never seems to work. Brown paper parcel tape is good for quickly masking up tyres I’ve found.

Painting wheels whilst they are still on the car is the automotive equivalent of ironing a shirt whilst wearing it.

I’ve heard another way to paint wheels if the card trick doesnt work for you  - smear vaseline all over the sidewalls before you paint, shoot the wheels, wait for paint to dry, jetwash tyres. Bit ghetto maybe but still.

I investigated why the driver's side window wasn't working, armed with my voltmeter and some plucky determination.

I discovered why one speaker wasn't working - it wasn't plugged in.

Also, the reason why the window motor wasn't working? There isn't one. Just some Wickes drainpipe. Hmm.

BX is great, apart from the obvious dickhead repairs* obviously.

Your Rover is HOT though. I’m struggling to remember when I actually last saw a tourer.

Is that holding the window up?

I believe so. There was another bit of pipe, but it had fallen over.
