A base spec 440! Phwoah!

If this a temporary car and you decide to roffle it, I'd have half a dozen tickets.

Excellent excellent excellent!!!!!!

Good buy! Always had a soft spot for these, they’re just so completely uncool that they’re cool.

 Good buy that man!

Not out of the question at all! It's so I can keep my gardening business and my musician business going while my E46 estate gets fixed.

If I hired a gardener and he turned up in that wonderful vehicle I’d be very very impressed.

Hmm... how far do you travel for gardening work...

It's so base spec I don't even got split folding rear seats. That's going to be an issue.

It's not as long in the rear as I'd hoped but reckon it'll do.

There are dints and rust spots but on the whole it's in fine fettle. Months MOT, 78k miles. Winner!

Home now. Here are some more pics, including a failed attempt at a Woollard. So crap it might just be good, like my new 440.

This isn't my first Dutch VolRenBishi, I had a very wonderful Carisma hatchback diesel not too long ago.

Well bought!

It seems that  Woolards are easier to do if you have someone else to hold the camera (or a selfie stick).

Also, my new 440 drives really really well! Didn't miss a beat, feels light, responsive and planted. Not horrendous amounts of body roll.

Pleased.

Also there is plenty of junk in the car from previous owner! Bonus!

Oh and one more thing, I stopped at a pez with hand car wash and the guy came straight out to me and wanted to know about it, and offered to buy it off me the and then for the cash I paid for it.

Wow! I've fancied a Volvo 400 series for quite some time. They seem to fall under the radar of 'cla**ic status'. Nice one @Tim_E . Gets my seal of approval. :)

Glad you enjoyed it, I enjoyed making the thread, it made the mission so much more fun than it already was!

That's just about as good as it gets, the perfect car. Take my hat off to you for being so lucky,  top bombing.

But enough about following the Vectra, the Volvo looks a treat. Well bought.

Mine was the same. The car never boasted it was anything other than an absolutely adequate AN CAR. It was a 1.8 GL in more decadent GL trim, so I had electric front windows and a couple of switches where those amazing blanking plates are on yours.

Ooh that's loverly, proper Granddad spec. In fact about the same as my wife's late Granddad's 440.
