I've hit a bit of a stumbling block with this at the moment, last week dad came over and we rebuilt the brakes, bleed them, got them working nice etc but unfortunately wasn't able to MOT it in time for my East Coast Retros meet on the Saturday which I had been aiming for, that evening though I got the car insured and took it for a quick short drive on a private road, it didn't pull away very cleanly, kinda bogged down and then shot off like a rocket!

I'm not too fussed about that yet though as it's probably stale fuel and I still need to do the plugs but the main issue was when I came to brake the brakes turned to shit! The pedal went down and started vibrating and making a electrical sound and when I did manage to stop it they really struggled to hold the car still on the brakes whilst in drive.

I opened the bonnet and the brake fluid reservoir had filled itself right up to the top strangely but there's no leaks anywhere? I'm yet to investigate it as I'm baffled but would that indicate a issue with the master cylinder or maybe the ABS pump?

To me it sounds like the fluid may have pushed past a tired seal and can't get back? 

My Sierra buzzes until the abs light goes off. 

May be time for a specialist to take a look because

A: You can't cut corners when it comes to brakes. 

B: This car should be worth a reasonable amount fixed, but not so much with no brakes 

?You could waste loads of time and money taking amateur advice from idiots like me on the Internet.

Ha! Well I can't quite remember but I think the orange ABS light came on after I lost the pressure and the pedal pulsated like it would if the ABS was coming on, your theory about a knackered seal would be right but it's not something I've ever experienced before but wondered if anyone else had.

I doubt there are many Granada ABS specialists about though...

Sorry, I'm been pretty crap with this one, after the initial progress life got in the way as always as did Christmas so it got put on the back burner for a while. 

The brake situation was sorted in the end by a second hand brake unit off ebay for £40, this was after someone on Facebook tried to sell me one for £150 and then got all arsey when I said they are available for cheaper on Ebay. Thankfully after fitting it the brakes bleed straight up and worked perfectly again.

So with this hurdle out the way I then went to change the fuel filter put managed to bollocks that up by not fitting the washers right and it pissing fuel everywhere and then having a right mare with carparts4you and eurocarparts with buying a replacement filter which came with new washers (I damaged the old washers) anyway, I eventually got one of the local motor factors that actually had the washers with it like it should and managed to get that to seal correctly, then I had a problem with the car boiling up when it got warm, even after flushing it all through. 

Another £60 was spent on a new water pump and some new belts and I stripped it all down today with my dad expecting it to be the head gasket, I was relieved when I found the inside of the water pump was completely blocked with crystallised anti freeze! Once I poked it all out of the water well gallons of water poured out the block!

So a few hours later and it all back together and its now running perfect, I took it for a cheeky blast up the road and it drives bloody lovely! It goes like a train and changes gear so smoothly, considering its still running on 10 year old fuel its great! 

The plan is to try and get it booked in for a MOT tomorrow, exciting times!

Thats the problem I had, I didn't clean the face of the banjo well enough and when I tightened them up it dented the washer not sealing it properly and it pissed out when I started it! 

Tried using some new washers but I think they were too thick so they didn't seal and ended up spending ages having to look for a new filter just for the washers!

Oh and a few other observations i noticed today, both front and rear heated windows still work as well as the heated drivers seat and the rear wiper works when you put the car in reverse with the front wipers on like a much newer car, i was amazed by that for a 31 year old car!

Thanks, I really don't know what it's worth if I'm honest, prices are all over the show for them, some are £500, others are £5000 (admittedly not selling mind) I know what it owes me though, at a rough guess probably around £1500? I don't know if that's expensive or not?.

To be fair I think you'd be selling yourself a bit short at that price
