Possibly the most eighties thing you'll see this week, never heard of this particular model.

I've had a few of these in the past and they are great fun to drive. 129bhp  and good for 130mph if you get a good 'un. They just love to rev. VLSD as standard too. Not quite as reliable as other 80's Nissans and do require looking after as they are not tolerant of neglect. Burst hoses and cooked engines are an issue.

FFS The money in my pocket is going to DW tomorrow and you lot are showing me a 205 half a mile away for pocket money (at the garage that MOTed my last one).  Are you trying to turn me into Wuv?

My old Herald!

Doesn't seem to have changed much, although it's done nearly 7,000 miles. Still has the leather gear lever gaitor from my sister's Escort, and the washer bottle made from a Dolmio jar!

Re. Conrad's old Herald, is the drivers door actually shut in the photos? Surely a door can't fit that badly, but look at the window frame!

On a Herald / Spitfire / GT6 etc, everything fits that badly.

This one looks as neat as they get in the advert pictures.

Hard not to think that   "Where shall we put the petrol tank?"   should have a better answer than   "In the boot."

Perhaps it's just I'm getting old , but there's something quite appealing about that Zephyr having a 1.8 zetec with an auto box. Smooth, economical , reliable cruiser. It would still be faster than even a Zodiac was when it was new. With a V8, there's always the danger of it sounding like a Hot Rod but getting embarrassed by a 2.0 tdi euro box at the lights, the chrome 3 spokes would have to go though.

That's where it is located in Britain's most coveted classic car of all times, the Ford Escort MKII.

FiL [ex] had a war veterans free Popular. Always ran full to neck = massively heavy.

Under boot hinge, right where the tank bolted to the pressed out Web/Strengthener he got a fatigue crack, which 'creaked' very annoyingly.

I pointed it out to him.

Dweeb

The door's not shut, they're frameless and the window is quite flexible. But SornMe is right that panel fit is terrible on most of them. If the doors stick out at the bottom (very common) that's the body spreading out a bit. The way to fix it is to take the roof off, tie the seatbelt mounts together across the car with ratchet straps or similar and then tighten them until the car is a bit narrower at the top. As terrifying as it sounds!

If the car's been taken off its chassis, then it's an incredibly difficult job to get the three chunks of the body all aligned perfectly.

I would leave it as it is  apart from perhaps the colour

Early boggo Xantia - probably a bit ambitiously priced, but unusual to see one this old these days.
