Thanks UW.

What were the competition offering in terms of 4wd vans?

ISTR a 4wd Transit, but probably not as capable as this Sherpa.

Looked like BLARG had carved out a great niche with this, and the Freight Rover branding was perfect.

What went wrong?

Vw did the transporter as a 4wd 'syncro' from the t25/t3 too, although from memory only lhd (although available officially through UK vw dealers) and as always, horrendously expensive compared to the competitors

Never seen a 4WD Sherpa but did see a lot of 4WD Transits back in the day - Old Bill and Forestry Commission liked 'em

Having said that - this brings back some Ser 2a/3 Landie vibes - even got the leaf springs in there?  Is there also a LR ladder chassis in there to hold it all together?

Race car is race car backwards.

Austin A35 2 door saloon, BARN FIND, race car replica for restoration. 1958. - Picture 8 of 24

I bought the vehicle in 2018 from a “Messengers-at-Arms and Sheriff Officer”

Ah... So you bought it by, back handing someone some money to get into 16 committee meetings to release the V5. Then bribing the seller to let you buy it.

All that said you have to admire it. It's crap but brilliant at the same time.

You could get the square shape  Talbot Express in 4x4, I’ve only ever seen  1 in real life and it wasn’t this one
