A school friends Dad had an Ital, the rearside passenger door fell off in Tottenham when he was giving us a lift home, so he parked it up and just left it, it was so rusty and it was only no more than 5-6 years old, he bought an old Merc off my car dealer uncle instead.

That's nice, apart from the rust.

Did the early ones have an umbrella gearstick a la 2cv?

I seem to remember the floor shifter being an optional extra but I may have misremembered

1967? No wonder it hasn't been driven much, by that time Hughes rarely ventured out of his room.

According to Wiki the production of the Daimler DS420 did not start until 1968.

The same is on AR on line.

DAIHATSU CHARADE 1.0 PETROL 03 REG 5 DOOR MOT NOVEMBER 23RD TAX £35 YEAR LOW INSURANCE 50+MPG £595

86

I love these things, a mate had one and it was an amazingly cheap and efficient mode of transport. Lowest tax band, boringly reliable, an easy 20+ kms per litre of fuel. His was a Kyoto, bASe spec with unpainted bumpers and without wheeltrims, but which sadly appears to have been unavailable for the British market.

Would.
