I had a similar vintage Subaru once. Yes, this really is how you engage 4wd!

Wasn't that more of a mud n snow/farm yard 4wd rather than "OMG STi Quattro Speeds" system?

Drove her all over the spring and abit of the  summer and parked her up, roll on a few months and when I went back to play with it she was having trouble starting / idling.

I have literally gone through the whole fuel system, injectors ( cost me £300 to refurb!) New fuel regulator, fuel pump, fuel filter , spark plugs , coil , distributer , map sensor!! That's what I have replaced so far!

God knows what's up with it, I actually think it's vacuum line related because now it will only start if one of the lines is unplugged from the manifold

First registered in 1996, must be one of the last. Current running issues aside, this does look like a good, solid one:

This one seems to have had a bad day at the testing station. Especially being failed for having the standard 2003 MB front wing corrosion patina:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/187697171731

"Nearside Front Body panel corroded and likely to cause injury (6.2.1 (a) (i))

Offside Front Body panel corroded and likely to cause injury (6.2.1 (a) (i))"

Bit harsh - seen worse

Full MOT list here
Old one expires 14th November - I'd take it straight to the bridge or, if not super crusty underneath - KwikFit - get the 3 illegal and 1 borderline tyres replaced :-( FFS

Those fails seem proper fussy. That said, I'd rather take it to the crusher than Kwik Fit Up.

If it was really, really clean underneath then I'd maybe consider it but, as it stands, with some MOT left - I'd drive it to the crusher and collect the money.
Chances are he'll end up having to relist it a few times, run out of MOT and lose 50% of that drive in value?
