The pricing is truly mental. My brother runs a 2014 almost 200 bhp Golf GTD which costs £20 annually, despite being a performance derv. 

Down the road from us, a 2006 3 litre derv Ssanyong Rodius has been laid up slowly rotting away for the last five years. I assume it's partly due to the fact that annual rfl is currently coming in at an eye-watering £735. 

My brother also owns a 2008 4L V8 BMW M3 coupe. That's £760 annually, but considering what's under the bonnet, it's almost worth it.

That is about the most IOW modern I could imagine. I remember loads of Rivas hanging on until the early naughties when they had all but disappeared from the mainland.

It looks to be very clean body wise. It would make sense get that and burst the Ledbury to save it.

The senseless part isn't the pricing though.

 

The senseless part is that it's just a tax on the official fuel economy figure. It doesn't take into account the amount the car is used, unlike taxes on fuel.

Why tax the official fuel economy figure? If a car with low mpg is barely used, it'll use far less fuel overall than one with high mpg that does 50,000 miles per year.
