A Riley Kestrel? That's a new one on me - seen a Riley Hornet but not one of these

I've seen a Wolseley Hornet and a Riley Elf, but never a Riley Hornet. The Wolseley version of the ADO 16 was just called 1100 or 1300.

By the way Kestrel was a name used by Riley in the 1920s and 1930s.

God knows I'm an Austin apologist but that is too far gone and certainly not £950 worth

With that mileage an absolute bargain.

However, an interesting range of cars with abysmal and often plain incorrect adverts has been posted on FB marketplace today. Most of these cars seem to stem from the London Motor Museum which was shut down by the council in 2018 and are now resting in a random field. For example:
Product photo of 1982 Uaz 452

Product photo of 1987 Zimmer Quick silver

Product photo of 1936 Buick Regal

Naturally not 1 but 3 cars have caught my attention despite some optimistic pricing. The sellers have offered to give a little video tour tomorrow, lets see if we can come to an agreement...

@eddyramrodplease buy this !!

Thank you, but No.

-------------------------------------------

£1500 RNM, and four days to go, so that's already over budget and going to run away further.

I positively like a car to look used, but that looks like it was dumped in the Nevada desert in 1985 and resurrected in 2010.

Lowered suspension.

Have you looked at that cross on the hood?

-------------------------------------------

Any one of the above factors would eliminate it, but all four?

Oh and... while I absolutely have always wanted a Cadillac hearse, I don't want to have to live in it, which I guarantee would happen even if it was both perfect and free.  So... no.

Problems, problems, problems Eddie. How about you start giving us some solutions for once?

Solutions cost money, to wit:

Bodywork and respray: On that?  Probably £5k, including labour; quite possibly more.  Not including sourcing and reinstating the rear fender skirts, and eliminating that disastrous cross.  Will be out of action six months, conservatively.  Know anyone you'd trust to do it, within 30 minutes of your house?  Or even 60?  No, me neither.

Suspension: back looks like it's on leaf springs, which probably just means lowering blocks; easy to get rid of.  Front, well who knows what I'd find when I took the wheels off.  Got to budget for at least a pair of coils.  Plus labour.

Tyres: needs a minimum of four Cooper Lifeliner 235/75/15s to replace those town-and-country things.  I mean, those would have been just-about acceptable in 1967, when the UK didn't have access to the correct tyres, but we do now, there's no excuse.  £100 a corner, approx.  Fitted, if lucky.

Wheels: need cleaning up and painting, which is OK, that's something I could do, assuming my stamina held out.  But then it needs a full set of the correct hubcaps, which will be £200 easily.

Divorce and relocation: £fuckno!

Oh and did I mention it's already out of reach?  Funding IS now, and always has been, a massive issue.  £1500 RNM does not translate to "make me a bid."  It translates directly to "Ed can't afford me, fuck off."  Which in turn translates to "Ed will enjoy the Omega, and mourn this hearse from a distance."

And having typed all that, yes I do understand that you may have been joking.  My autism means that I need to answer the question as if you weren't.

Hope one of the three is Chick Hicks there.

I was only teasing. But I would love to see you live your CF dream one day.

Why can't these lazy cunts SAY IN THE FUCKING ADVERT if the MoT is out or not?
(the MoT expired in January and I don't like the rust breaking into the door shuts).

I wouldn't touch a first-gen Sandero with somebody else's bargepole.

Before I bought my 2011 Megane, I looked at a 2014 Sandero 1.5dci. In Aberdeen.

Now, look at how rusty that one is, and it isn't in Aberdeen. Now extrapolate from there.

Yeah. Even the alternator was ginger with rust.

None of the 3 I posted there but a G-body Regal is certainly a car that only gets more valuable over time.

You forgot to list the fact that you'd have to park it in front of your house and at least two of your neighbours' houses.  Which might not make you the most popular person in the street.

I live at number 8.  2,4 and 6 don't have a car between them.  No problem! :)

That’s a Barkas isn’t it? Not a UAZ…
