These early-ish Mk3 Capri fairly basic spec models are class. Hope it gets left standard and goes back on the road.

Daihatsu Person of Short Stature II, £3k.

This one's an auto so you get half a passenger seat, as opposed to none at all in the manual version.

£12k in Cornwall. But my fave colour/interior spec. Even with the original fuel cap.

Did the UK ever have a 1.1 GL?
I had a 1978 1.3GL and thought that was as smol as GLs came here.

Mind you - that one is in much better condition than mine when I sold it (in 1983) :-)

I don't think so, but sure @adw1977 or someone else will confirm!

(don't think our GL's got interior mirror control either?)

Mine didn't. It did have a push button radio (that French one has a blank plate) and the analogue clock. My mate had the Ghia from the same year (whoooo) and he had a cassette tape (double whooo) and chrome wheel trims. Both had that beige seat cloth and both had the top of the back seat rot out where the sun was on it through the back windscreen.
They were OK cars tbh. Mine needed sills welding at four years old but, other than that, never spent much on it.

Glad he binned the 'BBS Rims' as they (imho) really look shite on that car.
Other than that - is this a realistic price for a semi-borked VW? (Honest question as I have no idea myself)

No 1.3/1.6 in GL trim remote mirror was Ghia.

The vans were Thames never ford (utilibreak you might be thinking of ) was i think one of this type conversion. The number varied for rhd/LHD & eng/weight spec too.

Interior controlled mirror was never standard on GL but was a factory fitted option, even on a lowly Popular Plus.

There was never a 1.1 GL in the UK.

Markets like Greece and Italy with tax advantages for small engines probably got higher spec 1.1s, in fact there were 1.0 Escorts in some places.

Yup, Thames 5 cwt or 7 cwt vans. I knew Anglia wasn't right for them.

It’s a pity their reputation is not better.

I so want a Clubman to turn into a Clubvan but I hear too many horror stories.

HFM?  I thought the only reason people bought 4 doors and LHD was because they can’t afford what they really want. £12000 is mental for what will always be not quite the car of your dreams.  And no, we didn’t get 1100 GL’s in the civilised World. But then Jonny Foreigners could get 1100 Cortina's too, in some markets due to punitive tax systems.
